Chapter 532 Wufeng (Two Chapters Combined)
Xiang Qingde was stunned.
He watched as Xiang Beifei was knocked down time and again, yet each time he got back up. The child was so strong, simply to figure things out.
This perseverance astonished him.
Xiang Qingde didn't know what Xiang Beifei had experienced in the past, nor what had sustained Xiang Beifei to this point, but now he understood what his grandson had endured over the years.
The spiritual power in the air conjured a terrifying aura, crashing over as Xiang Beifei's fist came at him once more.
Xiang Qingde's hand stopped mid-air, and this time he did not block the incoming punch, allowing Xiang Beifei's fist to fall toward his face.
Even though he could have blocked the punch, he still gave up.
Perhaps out of guilt or owing a debt, he hoped to make amends, even if it meant taking a punch from his own grandson.
At least it could let the child vent the resentment in his heart.
But Xiang Beifei's fist stopped an inch from Xiang Qingde's face.
He didn't strike, simply looked at Xiang Qingde coldly.
He could let go yet also restrain himself.
Xiang Qingde sighed and asked, "Why didn't you strike?"
Xiang Beifei withdrew his hand, gasping for breath, his chest heaving.
There were some people he would never harm.
Like the old man before him.
Even if it was only a consciousness from over thirty years ago, he had always been in close contact with this old man.
"I came here to find an answer."
There are many ways to let off steam, but this way, he would not do it.
"I'm sorry," Xiang Qingde said, "I didn't know you went through so much."
"I don't need an apology, I just want an explanation," Xiang Beifei said in a low voice, "Why do I have two memories?"
Xiang Qingde shook his head slightly, "I am a consciousness of the past, existing before you were born, unable to determine what I did to you afterward. I just realized from the fact that you didn't have a system that you would have two memories."
"Why?"
"I can't answer that question. I'm not a complete person, just a consciousness left here to inspect the alien races that sneak in. I can't give you an answer," Xiang Qingde stated.
Xiang Beifei pursed his lips.
A residual consciousness, existing only for a specific purpose, wouldn't have the original owner's complete memories and thus couldn't explain many things. Xiang Beifei already figured this out from the Pioneer Stone left by Xiang Tianxing.
"I thought I was a transmigrator," Xiang Beifei said softly, "coming from another world to the Jiuzhou continent, replacing another person named Xiang Beifei."
"You didn't replace him, you are him," Xiang Qingde stated.
Xiang Beifei clenched his fists, "How is that possible?"
Xiang Qingde shook his head, "I don't know yet, but the other me should understand."
Xiang Beifei fell silent.
He recalled the old man with memory loss and the system interface filled with static, feeling an unpleasant sensation within.
What did that old man do? Divide himself into two people?
He felt as if he was treated like an experimental subject, becoming unnatural in his existence.
Yet he couldn't hate it.
Because without the system, he was nearly invincible on the Jiuzhou continent. He could overpower all the System Awakeners. Even Lady Qiu and Zhu Yiji, those masters of the Heavenly Connection realm, suffered greatly in front of him.
This ability was like a gift from his grandfather.
It was the strongest and most perfect protection his grandfather had given him.
"I will figure this out," Xiang Beifei took a deep breath, slowly calming his emotions, and said softly, "No matter what tries to stop me, I will keep going."
His ability was invincible in Jiuzhou, but Jiuzhou was like a cage, restraining everyone. He wanted to break free from this cage and understand what this world truly meant.
Xiang Qingde sighed again.
He walked towards Xiang Beifei, looking at his grandson as though he had much to say, but he held back.
After a long pause, he said, "Tianxing told me I lost my memory. That means you didn't learn my cultivation technique, right?"
"Nobody taught me."
"I'll teach you."
Xiang Qingde looked at Xiaohei, and with a wave of his hand, something suddenly sprang from Xiaohei.
It was a kitchen knife!
The object that had jumped out of Xiang Qingde's system interface initially, but the amnesiac Xiang Qingde didn't take it seriously, simply using it as a common kitchen knife, day in and day out for cooking.
Xiang Beifei had always kept this kitchen knife with Xiaohei.
The knife looked ordinary, barely a foot long, with a wooden handle and an iron blade, unremarkable in appearance. But Xiang Beifei was well aware of the knife's uniqueness; although it came from his grandfather's system interface, it wasn't a system item. It didn't sustain any spiritual power, even Xiang Beifei's spiritual power couldn't penetrate it.
Xiang Qingde caressed the kitchen knife, a wistful expression on his face, "Is it already broken?"
"Broken?"
"This is a stone sword."
Xiang Qingde ran his finger over the knife, gave it a light flick, and the blade emitted a crisp tremor, vibrating intensely.
Crack!
The wooden handle broke apart, and the blade started to warp. In the blink of an eye, it turned into a stone sword, with a blade no longer than a foot.
Both the hilt and the blade were very rough, as if someone had attempted to carve a sword out of stone but only managed to shape the raw form, too lazy to polish or finish it.
"What happened that caused such a stone sword to break?" Xiang Qingde's expression was somewhat gloomy.
