Chapter 524: Skeleton Formation
At first, the Purple Fire Skeleton was pointing at the pile of bones, the flames in its eye sockets flickering constantly. Then, it pointed at its own bones as if to show its companions that its bones were from that same pile.
The other skeletons, too, flickered the flames in their eye sockets in response, engaging in some unknown discussion. They all seemed eager to rush for the bones, but at that moment, one relatively tall skeleton stopped them.
This skeleton was taller than all others, with strangely shaped bones that were milky white and smooth, as if crafted from an art piece. The flames in its eye sockets were white and incredibly bright, seeming almost about to burst out of the sockets.
Among the group of skeletons, this one appeared to be the most rational and was not continuously flailing about like the others. The White Flame Skeleton seemed to be the leader of this troupe; it motioned with its hand and all the other skeletons quietened down.
The White Flame Skeleton closely examined the pile of human bones and cautiously surveyed the surroundings, evaluating the terrain of the valley and the great eagle that had just flown away, as if assessing something.
After a while, it shook its head, indicating to the others not to approach the pile of human bones. The other skeletons looked perplexed, desperately gesturing, the flames in their eye sockets even making a whooshing sound.
Yet the White Flame Skeleton still insisted everyone back away, appearing to have detected something.
Meanwhile, atop the valley, Brain Deficient narrowed his eyes, "What keen senses!"
But then he sneered, "However, since you're here, leaving won't be so easy!"
He waved his hand!
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
The Ghost Whiskers of Remnant Visage hidden in the forest immediately sprang out. The black tendrils, like venomous snakes winding through the dense woods, moved along the branches, soared into the sky, and enveloped the valley from above!
All the skeletons began shaking their heads and looking around at the black tendrils, immediately huddling together. The skeletons had no expressions, but the frequency of the flames flickering in their eye sockets became extremely unstable, as if they were astounded by the sudden change.
"Drawing you out wasn't easy!"
Brain Deficient's figure appeared midair, looking coldly at the group of skeletons trapped like turtles in a jar.
The leading skeleton looked grimly at Brain Deficient, suddenly clutching its hand bones tightly, the white flames in its eye sockets almost shooting up a foot high, emitting a howling sound.
Brain Deficient said, "I hate communicating with you, your despicable species. Just quietly submit beneath our feet!"
Whoosh! Whoosh!
More and more black tendrils started to whip around in the air, rushing towards the skeletons.
The White Flame Skeleton stood at the forefront, the white flames in its eye sockets suddenly spurted out, radiating intense heat. These white flames, like lava, penetrated through the ribcage, flowing into every crevice of the skeleton's bones, enveloping its bony framework tightly like white fiery meridians.
Hoo! Hoo!
Not just the White Flame Skeleton, but other skeletons' flames also began spurting out, albeit with varying temperatures, seemingly using these temperature differences as a measure of their own strength. Clearly, the White Flame Skeleton's flames were the hottest.
The White Flame Skeleton watched the oncoming black tendrils, white flames covering its bony hand, chopping down at the black tendrils!
Whiz! Whiz!
The white flames on the White Flame Skeleton's bony hand condensed into sharp blades, the fearsome high temperature directly slicing through the black tendrils!
The skeletons were also enveloped in flames of various colors; they, like the White Flame Skeletons, fought by using the flames that flowed from their eye sockets.
Although this group of skeletons looked somewhat comical, they were clearly well-trained. As they dodged swiftly, one palm strike followed another with exquisite timing, each palm wind crisp and decisive, shattering all the incoming black tendrils!
Xiang Beifei watched these skeletons from a distance, astonished. The technique of their palm strikes was very familiar to him; every strike was incredibly deft. Not only that, each skeleton seemed well-practiced, their dodging movements, lifting legs, throwing punches, chopping, and turning...
There was a method to their movements, power correctly concentrated into each punch, solid and genuine, without any superfluous flair.
If he hadn't seen their skeletal bodies, Xiang Beifei might have thought these techniques were performed by humans.
However, the black tendrils were far too numerous, countless of them converging to form a dense mass, almost obscuring the sky, and pushing the skeletons to their limits.
At that moment, the White Flame Skeleton waved his hand, and the flames on his body burst forth fiercely!
"Gather!"
A sharp, muffled sound exploded like a blast of flames, similar to the sounding of a horn, prompting all skeletons to swiftly get into action.
Clank! Clank! Clank!
All the skeletons pulled out two ribs from their rib cages and clutched them in their hands to use as weapons!
Immediately, each skeleton gathered around the White Flame Skeleton, forming a formation around him as the nucleus, with some even jumping atop other skeletons. The group of skeletons moved as if marshalling in battle, the flames on each skeleton connecting together.
When the black tendrils attacked, the entire formation merged like a Bagua, the various bone-bladed flames instantly blocking all the incoming black tendrils.
"Skeleton Bagua Formation?"
Xiang Beifei was quite amazed.
These skeletons, appearing as if they had undergone professional training, presented a defense formation centered on the Bagua with extremely strong defensive power. Whenever black tendrils approached from all directions, they were slashed apart by the skeletons stationed at the outermost layer!
Even the tendrils pressing down from above were blocked, as there were specific skeletons within the Bagua dedicated to dealing with the overhead black tendrils.
The flames from each skeleton merged together, creating an aura that made it impossible for the black tendrils to approach!
"Arrow!"
The White Flame Skeleton, acting as the commander, let out another sharp blast of flame, subtly different from the earlier sounds.
Xiang Beifei wondered if he was delusional, but for a moment, the sound of the flames bursting from the White Flame Skeleton seemed to change into the tone of "Arrow."
As soon as the sound of the explosion passed, the entire formation rapidly shifted, beginning from a Bagua and quickly transforming into the shape of an arrow. The front of the formation, shaped like a triangle, began charging towards the valley exterior!
"Is this the Arrowfront Formation?"
Xiang Beifei appeared astounded, recognizing this formation used to repel beast tides, as a pioneer himself.
