Chapter 11: Chapter 11 Acceptance

Jinx to husband?
Wang Xiaoshuai was shocked. He had never expected there to be such an inner story.
It took him a long time to recover, then with confusion, he asked, "Grandpa, don't you know how to read faces? Why didn't you stop Brother Dashan from marrying Yufen back then?"
"You think I didn't want to? But Yufen's case is indeed special, even I could not tell," the old rogue said with a complex expression, then he sighed heavily, "So Xiaoshuai, Grandpa really doesn't want to see you have an accident because you married Yufen."
"If you were gone too, our Wang family would be completely without descendants. What would be the point of me living then?"
Wang Xiaoshuai was not satisfied with this answer and pressed urgently, "Grandpa, you've said so much but haven't explained how exactly Yufen jinxes her husbands. You must make it clear to me today!"
The old rogue had never expected Wang Xiaoshuai to be so persistent. Facing his grandson's determined gaze, he said with a headache, "It's not that I don't want to tell you, it's just that this matter concerns Yufen's privacy. Unless she tells you herself, I absolutely cannot say."
"Xiaoshuai, don't you trust Grandpa? I would harm anyone but not you, understand?"
Feeling the helplessness in the old rogue's eyes, Wang Xiaoshuai, although curious, knew he would not get any answers by asking further.
Thus, he had no choice but to suppress his curiosity and said with a dejected tone, "I understand, Grandpa. You and the matchmaker go ahead and pick a date. I'll follow your arrangements."
"Good!"
Seeing Wang Xiaoshuai finally agree, the old rogue finally felt a weight lift from his heart.
Then, he went into the courtyard with Wang Xiaoshuai to discuss the details of the marriage with the matchmaker and Luo Peilan.
Initially, Wang Xiaoshuai managed to restrain himself because he could see that Luo Peilan genuinely liked him; after all, a person's eyes don't lie.
But when he heard that the marriage registration was going to take place in just a few days, he realized he truly couldn't fool himself.
Just as he was about to say something, he saw Li Yufen sashay into the courtyard with a smile on her face, saying:
"Matchmaker, Sister Peilan, have you come? How's my little brother-in-law, is he acceptable?"
"Sister Yufen, please take a seat," said Wang Xiaoshuai, getting up and greeting her with a smile as Li Yufen approached.
Li Yufen wasn't pretentious; she had already heard from the blabby matchmaker that they were picking a wedding date for Wang Xiaoshuai and Luo Peilan.
So as soon as she sat down, she said with a smile, "That's wonderful, Sister Peilan, we're going to be one family now!"
After a pause, she turned to Wang Xiaoshuai and said, "Xiaoshuai, as your sister-in-law, I have a few reminders for you. You know my maternal home is in Chentang Village; I've known Sister Peilan since we were young, so I understand her very well."
"You're lucky to marry Sister Peilan. She's not only beautiful but also kind and caring. If you two get married, you have to work hard to earn money, and stop being so unreliable, got it?"
"Also, later, I'll give you the medical books your brother left behind. I hope you won't let us down and will make our Wang family's medical skills shine!"
In Wang Xiaoshuai's memory, Li Yufen was always quiet and introverted.
This was the first time he had seen Li Yufen talk so much at once to him and he was momentarily flattered.
He certainly knew Yufen wanted the best for him, so after listening, he nodded and said, "Don't worry, Sister Yufen, I will definitely work hard from now on and will not cause you any more worry!"
"Alright, with your word, I am relieved. You continue chatting, I'll go cook." Li Yufen stood up and headed for the kitchen.
After the meal, when Wang Xiaoshuai saw the old rogue discussing marriage matters with the matchmaker and Luo Peilan again, he sneaked off to the kitchen and said to Li Yufen, who was washing dishes with a giggling smile:
"Sister Yufen, stop washing for now. I'll do it later. Take me to get the medical books..."
