Chapter 9: The great Hero that sacrifice himself
---
In battle simulation, Chaldea
The next day Charles is standing in The simulated flower garden was serene, filled with the soft hues of blue blooms swaying gently in an artificial breeze. Charles stood amidst the tranquility, letting his eyes wander across the field of flowers. His hand brushed against the petals of a nearby blossom as if lost in thought. Blue flowers—they were his favorite. Somehow, being surrounded by them brought him a strange sense of calmness.
But his moment of peace didn't last long. Charles scratched his head and turned his gaze to the person standing a few steps away.
It was Child Gilgamesh, the younger and more approachable version of the arrogant King of Heroes.
His golden hair and Red eyes gleamed under the simulated sunlight, his small figure seemingly out of place in such a picturesque scene. Charles tilted his head, narrowing his eyes slightly in confusion.
'Why's he here?'
Charles wondered, but instead of dwelling on it, he let out an audible sigh. His curiosity finally got the better of him as he glanced back at the blonde boy.
"So... Why are you following me here?"
Charles asked, his tone a mix of annoyance and genuine curiosity.
Gilgamesh tilted his head playfully, a soft smile gracing his youthful face.
"Hehe, I was bored."
he admitted, his voice carrying a light and casual tone.
"And then I saw you walking toward the battle simulation. So I thought... Why not see what you're up to?"
Charles blinked at the unexpected answer.
'That's it?'
He rolled his eyes, shaking his head in mild exasperation.
"I see... Fine, do whatever you want, just don't annoy me,"
he muttered, trying to brush off the boy's presence.
Gilgamesh chuckled softly, clearly amused by Charles' reaction.
"You're an interesting one, Charles. I don't need to annoy you to have fun."
Charles raised an eyebrow at him but decided not to argue further. Instead, he turned his attention back to the field of flowers, letting Gilgamesh's words drift into the background.
But then an idea struck Charles, his expression shifting into one of determination. He wanted to try something—something he'd been pondering over since the night before.
Raising his hand forward, Charles spoke the name of his Noble Phantasm in a low voice, almost like a whisper to himself:
"The Valor of Conquest."
The atmosphere around him shifted instantly. A radiant aura surrounded his small frame as mana surged through him. Before him, a shimmering golden light began to take shape, materializing into a sword.
It wasn't just any sword—it was one of his prototype creations, an imitation of the legendary Excalibur wielded by Artoria Pendragon. Though it lacked the divine essence of the original, it still carried a regal air, its craftsmanship resembling a kingly weapon in every way.
Charles gripped the sword with both hands, his stance firm as he attempted to mimic the way Artoria wielded her blade. He raised the sword to head level, his eyes narrowing in concentration.
Gilgamesh watched silently, his playful demeanor giving way to quiet observation. He leaned back slightly, folding his arms across his chest as a small smile played on his lips.
Charles closed his eyes, focusing his mana into the sword. He wasn't trying to unleash its full potential—he knew that much was beyond his capability. But what if he could imitate Artoria's Noble Phantasm? Even if it wouldn't be as powerful as the original, it could still be something remarkable.
The thought had lingered in his mind since the previous night, when he had daydreamed about wielding a Noble Phantasm as powerful as Artoria's. He'd even tried activating a similar technique in his room, only to fail repeatedly.
But failure only fueled his curiosity.
'Maybe...'
Charles thought.
'Even if it's not the real thing, maybe I can still make it strong enough.'
He tightened his grip on the sword, focusing harder as the blade began to glow faintly, a soft golden light emanating from its edge.
Gilgamesh tilted his head, the soft smile on his face widening slightly.
"Interesting,"
he murmured to himself, his voice carrying a hint of amusement.
"So, you seek to replicate the light of Excalibur. A bold ambition for one so young."
Charles ignored the comment, his concentration unshaken. The glow of the sword intensified, flickering like a candle flame in the wind. It wasn't perfect—far from it—but it was a start.
With a sudden motion, Charles swung the sword downward, releasing a faint burst of golden energy. The wave of mana cut through the air, dispersing harmlessly into the flower field.
Charles staggered slightly, his breath uneven as he lowered the sword. He glanced at the blade, a mixture of disappointment and pride in his eyes.
'Not bad... but still not enough.'
Gilgamesh clapped his hands softly, his smirk sharp and amused.
"Not bad, Charles. Though you still have a long way to go before you can match the true King of Knights."
Charles shot him a tired glare.
"Yeah, yeah. I wasn't trying to match her, Goldie. I'm just... experimenting."
"Experimenting, hm?"
Gilgamesh mused, his tone playful again.
"Well, I'll give you credit for daring to attempt it. Most wouldn't even think of imitating a blade as iconic as Excalibur."
Charles let out a sigh, leaning the sword against his shoulder as he turned to face the younger King of Heroes.
"So, what? Are you just here to critique me, or are you gonna show off your own skills too?"
Gilgamesh chuckled, his golden eyes glinting mischievously.
"Oh, I don't need to prove myself. But watching you struggle is... entertaining."
Charles rolled his eyes again, though he couldn't help but smirk slightly.
"You're impossible, Goldie."
"And yet you tolerate me,"
Gilgamesh replied smoothly, his smirk widening.
---
The simulated garden was quiet, save for the occasional sound of flowers rustling in the artificial breeze. Charles stood in its center, gripping the shimmering prototype sword formed from his Noble Phantasm, The Valor of Conques. He let out a soft sigh, his eyes narrowing slightly as he focused on his experiment.
Gilgamesh, the younger version of the King of Heroes, leaned casually against a tree nearby, his golden eyes glinting with curiosity as he watched.
Charles tried to ignore him, rolling his eyes at Gilgamesh's smug demeanor.
"If you're just going to stand there, at least be quiet,"
Charles muttered, waving his hand dismissively.
Gilgamesh smirked but said nothing for now, opting instead to watch what Charles would do next.
Taking a deep breath, Charles thought about another hero—one who had always fascinated him, both in the stories of his past life and in this world.
Arash Kamangir.
A great hero of Persia, Arash was an Archer-class Servant renowned for his ultimate shot, Stella, a self-sacrificing Noble Phantasm that ended a war between two nations.
In his previous life, Charles had often relied on Arash in the game, add him in front line use his Np to clear the first wave of enemies with his devastatingly powerful attack. Now, in this world, he then wondered.
'Could I imitate that shot? Could I replicate Stella with my Noble Phantasm?'
Gripping his sword tightly, Charles activated his Noble Phantasm again.
"The Valor of Conquest!"
The radiant aura surrounding him intensified, and the sword in his hands began to shift and reshape. It melted into golden light before reforming into a bow, its design intricate and awe-inspiring.
The bow was slender yet powerful, crafted in elegant curves with glowing golden and silver patterns etched along its surface. Its limbs stretched wide, and at its center was an embedded blue gemstone that pulsed faintly with energy. The bowstring shimmered like starlight, taut and ready to channel immense power.
Gilgamesh's eyes widened slightly as he watched the transformation. For a moment, he was stunned, his usually composed demeanor giving way to genuine curiosity.
"Interesting..."
he murmured softly, stepping closer to get a better look.
"What is that bow? I've never seen it before."
Charles glanced at him briefly, tilting his head as if deciding how much to explain.
"This is the bow that Arash Kamangir used during his lifetime."
he replied in a nonchalant tone, as though it were obvious.
Gilgamesh frowned, the name unfamiliar to him.
"Arash Kamangir? Who is that?"
Charles sighed, clearly wanting to focus on his experiment but unwilling to leave Gilgamesh's curiosity unanswered.
"A great hero from Persia,"
he said, his voice tinged with admiration.
"He ended a war between two nations with a single shot from his bow, sacrificing his life to bring peace."
Gilgamesh tapped his chin thoughtfully, nodding slowly.
"I see... a hero of great sacrifice, then. But why would you try to imitate him?"
"Because I want."
Charles replied bluntly.
"I'm curious if I can replicate something like Stella—even if it's not as powerful as the original."
Gilgamesh tilted his head, studying Charles closely.
"But... how do you even know about him? I've never heard of this Arash in Chaldea."
The question caught Charles off guard. He hesitated, quickly thinking of an answer that wouldn't reveal his secret as a transmigrator.
"He comes from an era earlier than mine."
Charles said, his tone steady.
Gilgamesh raised an eyebrow but seemed satisfied with the answer.
"Ah, so you learned of him from some old tale or storybook, then?"
Charles nodded quickly.
"Yeah, you could say that."
Then, eager to move on, he waved a hand at Gilgamesh.
"Now stop bothering me. I need to focus."
Gilgamesh chuckled, raising his hands in mock surrender.
"Fine, fine. I'll let you play with your little experiment. But don't disappoint me, Charles."
With Gilgamesh finally quiet, Charles turned his attention back to the bow in his hands. He raised it, feeling the weight and balance. It wasn't perfect—just a prototype formed from his Noble Phantasm. Still, the craftsmanship of the weapon made him feel as though he was holding something truly legendary.
Drawing the shimmering string, he began to channel his mana into the bow. The gemstone at its center glowed brighter, pulsating with a steady rhythm. The energy around him thickened, swirling like a gentle wind as he visualized the shot he wanted to create.
"Let's see how close I can get to the real thing..."
Charles muttered to himself, a small grin forming.
As he aimed into the distance, the bow began to glow brighter, its light illuminating the field of blue flowers. The sheer presence of the weapon made the air hum with anticipation, as if even the simulation itself could sense the magnitude of what was to come.
And Gilgamesh, watching silently from the side, couldn't help but smile.
"This one might be more interesting than I thought."
Charles stood firm, his hand trembling slightly as he drew the glowing bowstring. The arrow that formed on the string wasn't ordinary—it pulsed with intense energy, glimmering with white light that seemed to pierce through the simulated sky itself. The power it radiated was almost overwhelming, but Charles didn't falter.
"Stella..."
He muttered the name softly at first, then louder, his voice filled with determination.
"STELLA!!!"
Releasing the string, the arrow shot forward with incredible speed, streaking into the sky like a comet. The entire garden was bathed in its radiant light, the simulated flowers swaying violently as the air around them surged with mana. The arrow climbed higher and higher, becoming a dazzling beacon against the artificial heavens.
And then, it began to fall.
The arrow descended with the grace of a shooting star, its light growing brighter as it neared its target.
When it struck the ground in the distance, a deafening explosion erupted, shaking the entire simulation.
The blue flowers near the epicenter were swept away by the shockwave, and a golden burst of energy spread outward like ripples in a pond, leaving a glowing crater behind.
Charles watched in awe as the aftermath unfolded. But the moment of triumph was short-lived.
A wave of exhaustion hit him like a crashing tide. His legs gave way beneath him, and he collapsed backward onto the soft bed of flowers. The weight of his body seemed to vanish, as though he were floating on air. His limbs felt numb, and his breathing was shallow, but his lips curled into a small, satisfied smile.
From his vantage point on the ground, he could still see the faint glow of the arrow's impact in the distance. The sight filled him with a strange mixture of pride and wonder.
'So this is what it feels like...'
he thought.
'To use a shot that powerful...'
Nearby, Gilgamesh had been watching the entire scene with wide eyes. For the first time in a long while, he was genuinely impressed. The boy-king stepped closer, his golden gaze flickering with amusement as he looked down at the collapsed Charles.
"You really went all out, didn't you?"
Gilgamesh said, his tone carrying a mix of mockery and genuine respect.
"You may not be Arash, but that imitation was... decent."
Charles tried to respond but could only manage a weak chuckle.
"Yeah... decent,"
he muttered, his voice faint but tinged with humor.
Gilgamesh crouched beside him, tilting his head curiously.
"You're lucky this is just a simulation. If this had been real, your life force might've gone with that arrow."
Charles groaned softly, closing his eyes as he tried to catch his breath.
"Noted... no second attempts..."
Gilgamesh smirked, sitting cross-legged next to him.
"Still, I have to admit, Charles, that was entertaining. Your mana control is... surprisingly refined for someone so childish."
"Geez, thanks,"
Charles muttered, rolling his eyes weakly.
For a few moments, the two boys sat in silence, the simulated wind rustling the remaining flowers around them. Despite his exhaustion, Charles felt a strange sense of accomplishment.
Gilgamesh finally broke the silence.
"So... what will you try next?"
Charles let out a tired laugh, his eyes still closed.
"Next? I'm taking a nap. You can handle the next experiment on your own, Goldie."
Gilgamesh chuckled softly.
"Fair enough. But don't think this is the last time I'll test you, Charles. You've caught my interest."
Charles groaned in mock protest, but a small smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
'Caught his interest, huh?'
he thought as the simulated sky dimmed overhead.
"Well, that's a problem for another day,"

Author:Haha I know the idea of Charles can imitating other noble phantasm is Crazy, But he could only imitate a noble phantasm he understands and Saw it many times.
Since he was a transmigrator, of course he knew a lot of Np. But that not mean he can entirely imitating any Np. Remember you're must be understanding how it's work.
And he just can used the Np type weapon
For now, the prototype weapons that he can imitate the Np are Excalibur and also Arash bow.
Since he himself also used Arash as a cleanser for the first wave of enemy in the game, so of course he understands Arash's Noble Phantasm.
Btw about the bow appearance I'm just likely to Imagine that appearance. Since I'm searching in Google and found no explanation about the bow appearance.
So if you're have better explanation about it's appearance pls tell me so I can edited it.
I also want to add a POV about what happened in Singularity 4.
