what if, you're get summoned as a servant in Chaldea

Chapter 1: Get summoned as servant

Charles sighed heavily, his frustration evident as he slumped against the chair in his room. The dim light of his screen reflected the despair of his predicament—nearly all the Saint Quartz he had painstakingly hoarded over the past month had vanished in a flurry of failed summons.

"Ah, what a pity," he muttered, his voice tinged with bitterness. "There's truly no hope for this ridiculous game."

His remaining Saint Quartz totaled just 30, barely enough for one last desperate 10-pull attempt. He grumbled to himself, calculating the odds.

"Two hundred pulls... the probability should be in my favor. A five-star servant... it's about time."

He took a deep breath, his resolve tightening. Despite the stinging sense of loss, a flicker of hope remained as he tapped the summon button.

The blue summoning circle began to spin, but this time, a vibrant rainbow light emerged, catching Charles' breath.

"Finally!" he whispered, leaning forward in anticipation.

The light coalesced, revealing a golden card. The image of a knight holding a sword adorned its face. His heart raced as he thought, 'Is this a Saber-class servant?'

When the card flipped, a striking image appeared—a young boy with long white hair cascading down his back, dressed in regal attire. A gleaming crown adorned his head, and at his side rested a sword reminiscent of Excalibur, though its white hilt made it uniquely distinct.

Charles' excitement turned to intrigue. The boy's appearance was both noble and enigmatic, his youthful smile radiating a mix of innocence and confidence.

The servant's introductory text appeared on the screen.

"Greetings, Master. I am Charles I. Hehe, Master, I hope you won't look down on me just because of my appearance."

The voice accompanying the text was youthful and charming, though surprisingly calm for a child.

Charles chuckled. "Charles I, huh? A servant with the same name as me? How fascinating."

He clicked on the servant's icon to pull up detailed stats. His curiosity deepened as he read through the information.

Charles nodded in approval. "Not bad... definitely unique. Though he's no Artoria, I can see his potential."

Before he could savor his victory, a loud cracking noise echoed above him. His heart sank as he glanced up—just in time to see the ceiling collapse.

In the dimly lit summoning chamber of Chaldea, Ritsuka Fujimaru stood beside a glowing summoning circle. Mash Kyrielight, her pink hair framing her concerned face, watched nervously as he completed the chant.

"Hear my plea, my will shapes your form,

And your blade forges my destiny. If you heed the Grail's call,

And adhere to my will and wisdom, then respond to my summoning!"

The circle pulsed with radiant blue light, spinning faster and faster until a figure began to materialize within its core.

When the light faded, a young boy stood in the center of the summoning circle. His long white hair shimmered under the chamber's lights, and his blue eyes sparkled with curiosity. A sword with a white hilt rested at his side, complementing his regal attire and crown.

Charles blinked, disoriented by the sudden change of scenery. The summoning circle beneath his feet and the unfamiliar room around him were stark contrasts to the game screen he had stared at moments ago.

"...Where am I?" he muttered.

Ritsuka stepped forward, smiling warmly. "Welcome to Chaldea. I'm Ritsuka Fujimaru, your Master. It's a pleasure to meet you. I hope we can get along."

Mash nodded politely. "It's an honor to have you here."

Charles' eyes widened as realization struck him. This wasn't a typical reincarnation scenario from the novels he loved—this was Chaldea, the heart of the Fate/Grand Order world.

"I've... been summoned?" he murmured, half in disbelief.

"Yes," Ritsuka confirmed, offering a hand. "You're now part of Chaldea. Let's work together to protect humanity."

Charles hesitated, then reached out to shake Ritsuka's hand. "Well, this is unexpected," he muttered with a wry smile. "But if this is where fate has brought me, I suppose I'll make the best of it."

'It's surprising… Who would have thought I'd be summoned as a Servant right after I died?'

Charles mused to himself, still trying to process the absurdity of the situation. What made it even stranger was the knowledge that seemed to have integrated into his mind upon arrival. He instinctively understood his new identity, abilities, and Noble Phantasm, as well as how to wield them.

It was as though he had merged with another being—a Servant. Despite not understanding how this had happened, he decided not to dwell on it too much.

Taking a deep breath, he carefully observed his surroundings. The sterile, futuristic room was unmistakably Chaldea. It looked eerily similar to the one depicted in the Fate/Grand Order game he used to play, though the finer details were more intricate than any game graphic could capture.

While Charles was lost in thought, Ritsuka Fujimaru, the Master who had summoned him, leaned toward the pink-haired girl standing beside him and whispered, "Hey, Mash, do you know anything about this Servant's identity?"

Mash's cheeks turned slightly red, startled by the sudden question. She quickly recovered and whispered back, "Um, unfortunately, I don't know much about him, senior. But…"

Ritsuka raised an eyebrow, curious. "But what?"

Mash hesitated for a moment before continuing, her voice low. "Judging by his attire and the crown, he's highly likely to be a king from some kingdom."

"A king, huh? That's interesting," Ritsuka mused, turning his attention back to the boy in front of him.

Feeling the weight of their gazes, Charles snapped out of his thoughts and realized he needed to introduce himself. He smiled naturally, clearing his throat before speaking.

"Master, I am Charles I, a Saber-class pseudo-servant. It's a pleasure to meet you."

As the words left his lips, he was momentarily startled by his own voice—light, youthful, and fitting for his appearance. It was exactly as he remembered Charles I sounding in the game.

Ritsuka's smile widened, pleased with the formal introduction.

"Welcome to Chaldea," Ritsuka said warmly. "Let me explain where you are. Chaldea is a secret organization dedicated to protecting humanity from extinction."

Charles nodded, feigning curiosity even though he already knew this. "Interesting… Are there other Servants here besides me?"

"Yes," Ritsuka replied. "Currently, there are about 20 Servants active in Chaldea."

"Quite a lot, huh?" Charles remarked, though inwardly, he was a bit disappointed. In his previous life, he had amassed over 50 Servants in the game.

"And how do you protect humanity from extinction?" he asked, tilting his head.

Ritsuka paused briefly before answering. "Humanity is threatened by anomalies called Singularities—distortions in human history caused by someone tampering with the past. Our job is to enter these Singularities, resolve the anomalies, and recover the Holy Grail, which is usually the cause of the distortion."

"I see…" Charles said, a hint of relief washing over him. He was thankful they weren't dealing with Lostbelts yet.

"So," he asked curiously, "how many Singularities are there?"

"There are seven in total, and we've already resolved three of them," Ritsuka explained.

Charles raised an eyebrow, surprised but impressed. 'Three already? That's faster than I expected. I suppose it makes sense with 20 Servants on hand.'

Before the conversation could continue, a holographic image of a woman resembling the Mona Lisa materialized from Ritsuka's wrist communicator.

"Pardon the interruption, but Singularity number four's location has just been confirmed by the research team," the woman announced.

"Oh, if that's the case…" Ritsuka turned to Charles. "You can take this time to explore Chaldea on your own. You might meet some of the other Servants, and they'll help you get settled."

With that, he turned to Mash. "Let's go."

"Yes, senior!" Mash responded, following him as they hurried out of the summoning chamber.

Charles was left standing alone, blinking in mild disbelief.

"...Huh." He chuckled softly, finding the situation amusing. He had just been summoned, and his Master had already run off to another mission.

Lying down on the cold, metallic floor, he stared at the ceiling, letting his crown fall off without a care. His thoughts swirled. Should he feel grateful for this new chance at life? Or resentful that he'd been whisked away so suddenly, with no say in the matter?

"I don't know who's responsible for this…" he muttered. "But if I ever find out, I might just punch them."

For now, he decided to wait, letting his thoughts settle as he prepared to explore this strange new reality.

Non-Canon Conversation

Author: (Okay, okay, I know that wasn't the most detailed prologue…)

Charles: "Right. You're such a lazy ass. I didn't even get a proper introduction!" His face flushed with irritation.

Author: (Hey, at least one of your wishes came true)

Charles: "Meh, whatever." He rolled his eyes and crossed his arms, pouting like a child.

Author: (chuckles and ruffles his hair)

Charles: "What are you doing, dumbass?!" he shouted, clearly embarrassed, as he swatted the hand away.
