What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?

Phew… We made it through the Warp Gate…

Now all we have to do is--

A flash of light appeared behind us and the snake Leviathan appeared, looking more pissed than before.

Ah fuck.

"Ries! Move the ship, now!"

Our ship accelerated almost immediately as our engines went into overdrive, shooting us away from the giant creature.

We quickly switched to Travel Drives and the ship shot even faster through space.

The Leviathan slowly moved further and further back, until light emanated from it and it blinked forward, catching up to us in an instant.

It tried to snap at us but because it needed to slow down to open its mouth, by the time it snapped its mouth closed, we had already boosted out of its range.

That didn't mean we were safe however, as the moment this Leviathan figures out it could just blink in front of us instead of behind us, we would be screwed.

Amber leapt to her feet, "I'm launching! Prepare to open the hangar!"

I spun around in shock, "Amber?! What are you doing?!"

"Getting its attention!!" She cried out, flying out through the door before I could stop her.

I wanted to run after her but I had to force myself to agree that this was a better choice than just banking on the possibility that the Leviathan never tries to warp in front of us.

Having two ships distracting it would give us all a higher percentage chance of survival.

I gritted my teeth and sat back down in my chair, "Lea! Prepare to fire weapons to cover Amber when she launches from the ship! Mara! Ries! Get ready for evasive manoeuvres! Mara! See if you can get in contact with those pirates and ask if they have a plan to deal with this!"

The girls all voice out their affirmatives and I could only pray that nothing else happens.

The Leviathan tried warping to us again but once more, we managed to speed out of its mouth before it could snap us up.

Right then, my Codex started ringing and I looked down to see it was from the Pirate Lord whom I had registered as a contact earlier in case we needed to converse.

I answered the call and glared at him, "What?!"

He seemed a little stunned, "Well, no need to get so riled up, I was just checking what's going on since one of your crew just sprinted past me looking like the ship was going to explode or something."

"Didn't you already hear? We're being chased by the Leviathan right now! Haven't you called your men yet?!"

"What?! No! I err… I wasn't paying attention!"

Shit… He was asleep the whole entire time?! We have been accelerating and shooting our guns for a while you know?! Just how deep of a sleeper are you?!

"Well now you know! I got my comms officer trying to contact your guys right now so tell them to at least try to support us or something or all of us are going to end up in that Leviathan's stomach!!" I yelled.

"Who do you think--"

"Do it now!!"

I didn't wait to see if he obeyed since I saw Amber's call notification coming from the other side of the console.

"Ship is ready to drop, Tera!"

An idea came to me.

"Everyone, get ready! Ries, drop us out of Travel speeds and I'll be taking over manual control for a moment!"

"Aye, Boss!!"

The space around us came back into focus as Ries shut off our Travel Drives.

I made sure to turn off the ship's Inertia Drives so that we could still maintain our direction of travel while I activated the side thrusters at the same time, turning our ship so that the broadside was facing the Leviathan.

"Lea!!"

The Alv needed no other orders from me as she fired every single available weapon on our ship including the autocannons and missiles.

Several explosions blasted against the snout of the creature though it only surprised it and barely scratched the skin of the Leviathan.

Is it even skin? Or are those scales? Bah, not the time!

The hangar bay doors popped open and Amber's ship dropped out through the hatch, her ship speeding away from us to turn towards the Leviathan.

Amber?! Why are you flying directly at it?! That's not what I was expecting you to do!

I watched as her ship flew directly past the Leviathan's head, right before two explosions struck near where its right eye was.

The entire Leviathan shook and recoiled back as though it was hurt by it, its mouth opened in a silent scream.

It immediately lost interest in us and turned towards Amber's ship, clearly intent on chasing after her instead even as she flew away.

"Ries! Get us away from it! Lea! prepare to get its attention once we're far enough!" I ordered, keeping my eyes on the screen as I watched Amber's ship boost away from the Leviathan to lure it away from us.

The Leviathan completely ignored us and slithered through space to try and snap at the smaller ship, my heart leaping out of my chest every time I saw it snap its mouth at where Amber had been a moment ago.

We engaged our Travel Drives and the Inertia Drives to fly in the direction of the other Leviathan once more, moving for a set distance before we shut it off to take aim at the Leviathan once more.

"Aim for its face, Lea! Fire!" I ordered.

This time, Lea only made use of the High Intensity Laser turrets as we needed to get the Leviathan's attention off of Amber as soon as possible since those didn't have a significant travel time to reach the target.

The lasers struck the side of the Leviathan's head and it flinched a little from the impact.

However, that didn't seem enough to get its attention as it just shrugged it off and continued chasing after Amber instead.

This stupid snake…

"Fire again, Lea!"

She obeyed and two more laser beams were shot out of our main guns to strike against the side of the snake's head.

This time, we managed to get its attention as it turned its attention back to us, annoyed that we were still attacking it.

Under normal circumstances, the distance that we have between us would ensure our safety but…

Ries engaged our Travel Drives again, boosting us out of there right as the Leviathan warped behind us, its mouth snapping at the place our ship had been just a second ago.

Amber also turned her ship and started flying in our direction as well, her ship bursting through the darkness of space like a bird of fire.

I realised she must be using her powers to accelerate her ship faster than normal since she managed to catch up to the Leviathan way more quickly than she was supposed to.

Her guns blasted against the side of the Leviathan's head before it could consider warping to us, stealing its attention once more as she flew away.

The Leviathan warped again, appearing in front of Amber's ship and I could feel my stomach drop as it looked like Amber wouldn't be able to turn in time to avoid flying into the Leviathan's mouth.

But right then, fire wrapped around the ship and it did a barrel roll, spinning around the Leviathan's head and avoiding its mouth completely.

She even took the opportunity to fire a few shots as she passed by, clearly just to piss it off more since she wasn't actually doing much damage to it.

"Boss! We're almost there! But… I'm not sure how close I can bring the ship!" Ries reported, pointing at the Warp Gate that was in the distance.

I turned to the call that was still connected to the Pirate Lord and glared at him, "You! How big is the area that would disable our ship's thrusters?!"

He seemed a little taken aback again before he tapped on something outside the screen, "I'll… Send you the details…"

A map popped up and it was added to our own, showing a sphere around the Leviathan that was at the Warp Gate.

Damn… That's pretty big… We were almost reaching it already and the Leviathan was still just a small speck in the distance… We might not even be able to get its attention before we find ourselves stuck in space with no engines.

I guess we'll just have to rely on inertia to carry us out of the field after we push the snake Leviathan's aggro on it…

We slowed down once again and fired at the snake Leviathen, forcing it to turn its attention back to us once more before we sped towards the other Leviathan.

We angled the ship so that we weren't flying directly towards it but at an angle instead, hoping that would be enough to pass the attention it has on us to the other Leviathan instead.

Right on cue, the Leviathan warped to us and… Our engines sputtered and died.

Good… Now the two Leviathans should--

Eh? Wait… Why is the snake Leviathan still chasing us? The other Leviathan is there!! Go after it!! AHHHH!!
