Chapter 150 - Road is Blocked
Mo Ba Si, the Tribe Leader of the Mo Snake Tribe, one of the eight major tribes of the Snake-People, values the honor of the Snake-People immensely and is fiercely loyal to the Snake-People’s Queen. However, he is inherently impulsive and violent, preferring action over reasoning, and has no tolerance for humans. To Mo Ba Si, any human within his sight, regardless of their actions towards the Snake-People, deserves no mercy. He harbors a deep-seated hatred for humans, making him an absolute racial extremist.
For Mo Ba Si, it doesn’t matter whether Xiao Yan was responsible for the massacre at the Yakachi Tribe. What’s important is that Xiao Yan is a human, and so are the two people with him. In Mo Ba Si’ extreme view, all humans deserve death.
This extreme stance of Mo Ba Si has always been a headache for Xiao Li. Xiao Li Knows that dealing with Mo Ba Si is one of the biggest challenges in achieving peaceful coexistence between humans and the Snake-People. Hence, she tries to avoid any interaction with Mo Ba Si, preferring to deal directly with the Queen, as Mo Ba Si is not someone who can be reasoned with.
Despite his violent and impulsive nature, Mo Ba Si has an extreme tolerance for his own people. He values his tribesmen so much that he would even ignore direct insults from them. This is why, even though the little Mo Snake girl is obstructing him, Mo Ba Si does not use violence against her, not even verbal aggression. He simply pushes her gently aside and continues his slow approach towards Xiao Yan.
“No!!!”
The little Mo Snake girl desperately clings to Mo Ba Si, attempting to stop him. In her heart, Xiao Yan is the savior of her people, and she feels compelled to repay him. However, her small frame is insignificant to Mo Ba Si. Even as she clings to him, he does not halt, gripping his long halberd as he draws closer to Xiao Yan.
At Xiao Yan’s side, the cloaked woman and Qing Lin are crouched beside him, looking at him with extreme concern.
“Young Master Xiao Yan!”
“Xiao Yan! How are you?”
Xiao Yan, struggling to get up and feeling his immobile right arm, looked at Mo Ba Si with a grave expression. His unprovoked attack confirmed the cloaked woman’s description of Mo Ba Si as someone who harbored extreme hatred towards humans and acted irrationally.
The cloaked woman, noticing Mo Ba Si approaching, suddenly remembered something and urgently said to Xiao Yan, “The token Yan Ci gave you! Take it out!”
Since Yan Ci was also one of the Tribe Leaders of the eight major tribes of the Snake-People, the token might persuade Mo Ba Si to hold back, at least long enough for Xiao Yan to explain the situation.
However, Xiao Yan frowned upon hearing this. After a moment, he took out the token given by Yan Ci from his storage ring. Instead of showing it to Mo Ba Si, he discreetly handed it to the cloaked woman. She looked at him, puzzled, as he quietly spoke.
“Take this token and leave with Qing Lin.”
“What?!”
She was startled by Xiao Yan’s words, not understanding why he didn’t show the token to Mo Ba Si but instead told her to take it and leave.
Before she could respond, Xiao Yan explained softly, “Can you guarantee that Mo Ba Si will stop if he sees this token? Is there a possibility that he’ll consider Yan Ci a traitor for giving his token to a human and declare war on the Yan Snake Tribe?”
Xiao Yan’s words left the cloaked woman speechless. Normally, a Tribe Leader wouldn’t suspect a fellow Tribe Leader of betrayal over a small token and declare war. But Mo Ba Si might, due to his intense hatred for humans. If he knew that Yan Ci had given his token to a human, allowing free movement within the Snake-People’s territory, he might indeed brand Yan Ci as a traitor and declare war on the Yan Snake Tribe.
Such a scenario could potentially drag the other six Snake-People tribes into conflict, leading to chaos within the entire Snake-People community. The tribes were already divided on their stance towards humans, and a war could split them into two hostile camps, leading to a relentless fight.
Xiao Yan knew that this was not the outcome Xiao Yan’s sister, Xiao Li, wanted to see. Her efforts to foster peace shouldn’t be undone by his actions.
Therefore, it was imperative that Mo Ba Si should not see this token.
“Take Qing Lin and go!” Xiao Yan insisted.
Xiao Yan, switching his Heavy Black Ruler to his left hand, stood up and pushed Qing Lin and the cloaked woman behind him, facing the approaching Mo Ba Si directly.
“Go find my sister! She must still be alive! If you tell her everything you know, she can solve these problems!!!”
Hearing Xiao Yan’s words, which sounded like a final goodbye, the cloaked woman clenched her teeth, her eyes under the hood filled with hesitation. Qing Lin was even more unwilling to leave, shouting at Xiao Yan.
“Young Master Xiao Yan! I’ll stay with you—”
“Go, NOW!!!”
Xiao Yan suddenly turned and shouted at Qing Lin with a fierce tone.
This shout stunned Qing Lin. In their limited interactions, Xiao Yan had always been a gentle and considerate big brother to her. This was the first time he had ever yelled at her like this, indicating the severity of the situation.
“We’re leaving!”
The moment Xiao Yan shouted, the cloaked woman abruptly picked up Qing Lin and fled into the distance. Her identity forced her to make tough choices, no matter how unwilling her heart was. One death here was better than three. She knew very well that she and Qing Lin staying would not help Xiao Yan but rather burden him. Escaping and not becoming a liability was the only thing they could do at the moment.
“Trying to escape?!”
Mo Ba Si, enraged at seeing the cloaked woman escaping with Qing Lin, threw the little Mo Snake girl clinging to his waist aside and prepared to pursue them with his halberd.
In the next instant, his survival instincts screamed a warning, and he heard Xiao Yan’s furious cry.
“Flame Splitting Tsunami!!!”
BOOM!!!
A dazzling light mixed with purple flames instantly cut off Mo Ba Si’ path, shaking the entire desert area. When the bright light faded and the shaking subsided, a massive, black pit appeared in the sand in front of Mo Ba Si—tens of meters long, several meters wide, and over ten meters deep.
On the other side of the pit, Xiao Yan leaned on his Heavy Black Ruler, breathing heavily but with an unyielding look in his eyes, firmly fixed on the shocked Mo Ba Si.
“I’m sorry.”
Xiao Yan’s voice was extremely soft yet resolutely firm as he declared.
“This way is blocked!”
