Welcome to Dungeon Hotel

Chapter 233

 Hwang Kkotbun.

Junghyo stared quietly at the guest list after writing down the names.

Siblings who got lost in the forest and ended up as guests at the Goblin Tavern.

Although they were the first guests at the Goblin Tavern, Junghyo couldn’t help but pay special attention to them.

The reason they got lost in the woods was precisely because of the tavern’s owner, the goblin.

 ‘Damn goblin.’

The guy who was drinking in that picture made a bet with Hwang Kkotbun’s husband, Mr. Kim, and Mr. Kim lost the bet, of course.

‘That guy has played so many games of go; it was only natural for him to lose…’

And because of that, he lost the land he had.

Not only was Hwang Kkotbun, who farmed and made a living from that land, left empty-handed, but her brother was too.

Hwang Yonggu, Kkotbun’s older brother, wandered through the forest to reclaim the land lost by Mr. Kim and ended up at the Goblin Tavern to lodge a complaint.

“And it was precisely this scene that Junghyo encountered as soon as she arrived at the tavern. The ghosts, startled by the complaint, had knocked Mr. Hwang unconscious and locked him in a room.

Thanks to that, Hwang Kkotbun also got lost in the forest and came to the Goblin Tavern to find his missing brother—

‘There was a bit of a misunderstanding in the middle.’

It was due to the clumsy service of the novice staff that Hwang Kkotbun mistook Junghyo for a ‘tiger.’

“I think that ‘boss’ is a tiger, brother. That’s why they serve food like this!”

Even Hwang Yonggu started to agree with Hwang Kkotbun’s words.

 “I see!”

 What’s that supposed to mean…

“Are you fattening me up before eating me?”

Seeing Hwang Kkotbun shed tears in front of the steak brought out from the kitchen, Junghyo was momentarily dumbfounded.

That steak had been made from ingredients that were difficult to obtain, all because the wretched goblin tavern had scared off every merchant needed to supply fresh goods.

Seeing the tears drip onto the precious steak, Junghyo hurriedly pulled out a handkerchief from her pocket.

Junghyo had developed the habit of always keeping a handkerchief or band-aids in her pocket, never knowing when something might happen with the guests.

 “I don’t eat my guests.”

“Huh? Then why are you giving me all this food….”

 “Because you’re a guest?”

Of course, it was true that Junghyo was in the middle of a quest to avert the terrible outcome of human extinction, but to her, a guest was still a guest.

 That was only natural.

Just as a doctor treats patients and a lawyer defends clients, a hotel owner serves their guests.

“B, but we can’t afford to pay for this food….!”

Hwang Kkotbun was momentarily captivated by Junghyo’s smile, but quickly came to her senses and spoke urgently.

“Do I have to offer up my liver as payment for the food…?”

As Hwang Kktotbun mumbled about her liver, a gumiho, reacting to the word “liver,” quickly approached with eyes gleaming.

“Really? Are you really giving it to me?”

Junghyo glared at the gumiho, giving it a stern look.

She had definitely made a promise with the ghosts of this tavern.

Instead of forcibly draining the guests’ life force, they agreed to provide fair compensation for their hard work.

The gumiho, intimidated by Junghyo’s gaze, feigned innocence and backed away, rolling its eyes.

“Isn’t it okay to accept something that’s given for free~?”

Junghyo ignored the gumiho’s words and spoke to Hwang Kkotbun.

“No, we are not charging for this meal. Right now, the hotel…no, the tavern hasn’t settled down properly, so we’re in the middle of a trial run, and we feel sorry for the mistakes our staff made to Hwang Yonggu.”

“So you’re saying this food is free?!”

When Hwang Kkotbun and Hwang Yonggu asked back with surprised faces, Junghyo’s expression became subtle.

 “It’s not completely free…”

As she smiled, gently raising the corners of her mouth and narrowing her slightly upturned eyes, the two people felt a slight tension.

A, as expected, is it a tiger?

‘But where can you find such a pretty tiger?!’

Usually, tigers are depicted as majestic and fearsome mountain warriors.

However, while there was a sense of dignity about her, it didn’t stem from a leisurely power that could instantly devour a person.

Rather, it was the leisurely ease of a merchant who had an advantageous hand in negotiations and who knew how to skillfully use that hand with his numerous experiences.

The two of them were very nervous, overwhelmed by that strange leisure and dignity.

What on earth could this person receive in return for this food?

“Please stay comfortably while forgetting the mistakes our employees made to Hwang Yonggu and Hwang Kkotbun.”

 “?”

“That’s the price of the food.”

 “!”

Seeing the playful smile of the tavern owner as she said that, the two exchanged glances.

A feeling of a pang in their hearts.

‘Guest Room 201’ is touched!  ‘Guest Room 201’ achieves 100% satisfaction. And naturally, in front of Junghyo, who was activating ‘Mind Communication,’ a notification like this appeared.

By the way, what Junghyo activated was not just ‘Mind Communication.’

‘I saw one of Hwang Yonggu’s memories in advance.’

After preparing and serving the finest steak, she activated ‘Memory Communication’ to confirm one of the most useful memories from Hwang Yonggu.

Given that she had to manage a hotel in an unfamiliar world, Junghyo felt the need to understand the surrounding commercial environment.

And in the memory that Junghyo accessed, Hwang Yonggu and Hwang Kkotbun were living in a port town.

In the port town with a large mountain behind it, many peddlers crossed the mountain to buy and sell goods.

It seemed that these two had originally grown up under their father’s guidance as merchants, but after his passing, they settled elsewhere, and Hwang Kkotbun got married first.

The problem, however, was that her partner was a scoundrel.

 Anyway.

 What’s important now is—

“By the way, could you recommend a decent peddler if you happen to come across one? There have been quite a few bad rumors circulating about our Goblin Tavern, and we’re struggling to serve our guests quality food.”

 That’s it.

It was essential to target the surrounding commercial area to elevate the reputation of the Goblin Tavern, which was suffering from damaging rumors.

As soon as Junghyo finished speaking, she noticed the eyes of Hwang Yonggu and Hwang Kkotbun sparkling with excitement.

“Then of course, we’ll help you!”

“Honestly, I was planning to never go back to that cursed place because of that good-for-nothing Mr. Kim. I originally wanted to return to my hometown. Our old village has peddlers selling all kinds of goods!”

The two of them began to eagerly compete with each other to help the Goblin Tavern.

Junghyo expressed her gratitude to the two of them, ensuring that she treated them well until the very end.

 That’s just how people are.

Even if it is a service that is performed with a certain amount of compensation in mind, if the service is provided only for that compensation, the satisfaction of the recipient will decrease even if it is the same service.

That is the truth that Junghyo has felt from her experience in the hotel industry.

In the hotel industry, and broadly in the service industry, the principle of “give and take” is strictly upheld.

It means that you must first give something in order to receive something in return.

And when giving, you must give without worrying about receiving.

Despite the hotel’s facilities not being fully equipped yet, Junghyo did her utmost to take care of the needs of the two people as best as she could.

And the next day, Hwang Kkotbun, who was delighted to have taken a warm bath for the first time in her life, and Hwang Yonggu, who couldn’t stop praising the delicious taste of the meat, checked out with their faces glowing and refreshed.

“Are you really going back to your hometown right away?”

“Yes. Anyway, we lost our land because of that b*stard Kim, and we are going to start a new business rather than continue farming, which is not suitable for us.”

“I’ll be remarried in a place where no one knows me.”

Hwang Kkotbun clenched her fists and said.

I cheered her on from a modern perspective, saying that her decision was a very good one.

The ghosts decided to see the two off on their journey back to their hometown.

“The Goblin Tavern has a special power that allows guests to return to wherever they want to go.”

Although the ghosts kindly explained several times to the guests, the two of them followed the ghosts with somewhat worried expressions.

“You’re not really taking us to a tiger’s den, are you?”

“If we do, we’ll be fired.”

 “…Can I trust you?”

The ghost ascended the mountain path with a somewhat sad expression at the two’s distrust.

However, despite the two’s distrust, it would be confirmed the next day that the ghost had safely escorted them.

 The reason was simple.

“Aah, I’m Dolsoe from the seaside village, and I heard that if I come this way, someone might get some things to buy?”

The peddlers started to gather at the goblin tavern.

Even so, the kitchen team and Han Woohyun, who had been troubled by the lack of ingredients, brightened up when they saw the items brought by the peddlers.

Thanks to the fresh seafood they brought, the Goblin Tavern was ready to serve quite a decent quality of food.

Some peddlers were so captivated by the delicious smell wafting from the kitchen that they asked to stay the night.

“Wow. The smell is amazing. Give me a bowl of Hyojonggyeong here too! Since business is going well today, I’ll buy a lot!”

 The peddlers.

In this world without phones or the internet, they are the only ones who can deliver information across the mountains to distant places.

Once they began to target them, the changes started to become noticeably felt from that moment on.

“Welcome! Welcome to the Goblin Tavern…”

“Guest, I’ll help you check in.”

“Please bring your luggage this way.”

A notification window appeared in Junghyo’s busy eyes.

Current reputation of the Goblin Tavern: 15 Current reputation of the Goblin Tavern: 17 Current reputation of the Goblin Tavern: 19 Current reputation of the Goblin Tavern: 21 Current reputation of the Goblin Tavern: 30 And the message window.

Demon King This time, the difficulty adjustment failed like a dog. A faint smile appeared on Junghyo’s face when he saw the Demon King’s message.

 And then.

A loud voice was heard from the entrance.

“This is it! This is the tavern with the handsome tiger owner!”

 “Let’s go in!”

 “I don’t mind getting eaten…!”

 No.

 Hey…I’m not a tiger, I’m a human.
