Chapter 8: Chapter 8: The Ritual Expansion! Who Dares to Set a Monster Against the One-Shot Wonder?
ZEXAL World
After listening to the video blogger's explanation of the various Blue-Eyes plays, Yuma Tsukumo's expression had become grave.
"It's this powerful even without the power of the Number cards?" Yuma turned to look at Kite Tenjo. "So, Kite? What are those Galaxy-Eyes monsters?"
Kite, however, was already completely lost.
Galaxy-Eyes? The three-piece package?
Full Armor Photon Dragon?
Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Dragon?
Galaxy-Eyes Cipher Blade Dragon?
No! What is any of this?!
"I... I don't know," Kite stammered. "This 'Galaxy-Eyes package'... I've never even heard of it. All I have is Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon! That's my ace monster! It has 4500 ATK! But to summon it, I need to use a Trap Card! And yet, this deck can summon ace Galaxy-Eyes monsters more easily than my own Galaxy-Eyes deck?"
The more Kite spoke, the more agitated he became, his expression twisting with ferocity. He had already been on edge during the Xyz explanation, but now he had completely lost it! Who puts someone else's boss monster in their own deck? At least, in Kite Tenjo's worldview, that was unheard of!
...
ARC-V World
After watching the various plays and looking at the deck build, Yuya Sakaki, Zuzu Boyle, and the others were more concerned about the role of the other, non-Blue-Eyes cards.
"The in-archetype engine looks decent," Gong Strong commented. "But the probability of bricking still seems to exist. I, for one, am not a fan. My Superheavy Samurai are the best!" Despite being impressed, he wasn't optimistic about Blue-Eyes.
"Well, that's normal," Yuya added, also not thinking highly of the deck. "Relying on just those few monsters would indeed be tough. The main issue is that the deck's protagonist is a vanilla monster. Hmm, my assessment is that it's not as good as my Odd-Eyes."
In his eyes, vanilla cards were a relic of a bygone era. How strong could a deck centered around a vanilla monster really be?
...
VRAINS World
By the end of the Blue-Eyes showcase, Yusaku Fujiki and his companions from the latest era had already gathered together. Revolver, a.k.a. Ryoken Kogami, the leader of the Knights of Hanoi, had no choice but to set aside his own goals and temporarily form a consensus with Yusaku. Their entire VR world was filled with short video introductions of Blue-Eyes White Dragon.
"Hehehe," Revolver sneered, his voice filled with contempt for Blue-Eyes. "Blue-Eyes White Dragon? Just a worthless deck compared to my Rokkets. What's wrong? Is the great Yusaku Fujiki, user of the Code Talkers, actually taking an interest?"
To them, in the era of Link Summoning, a deck featuring vanilla monsters was incredibly outdated.
"Revolver, you can't underestimate any deck," Yusaku said with a playful smile, pointing to the VR screen. "Otherwise, why don't you take a look at the card at the end of the video?"
Everyone's gaze immediately shifted. What appeared before them was the introduction of the Blue-Eyes Ritual engine!
[Card Name: Blue-Eyes Chaos MAX Dragon (Level 8)]
[Attribute: DARK]
[Type: Dragon]
[ATK/DEF: 4000/0]
My Bride is Mine: "Next is a supplementary introduction, the cards typically included in a Blue-Eyes Ritual build."
My Bride is Mine: "Let's talk about the drawbacks first. Ritual Summoning is inherently a resource-draining mechanic. Once you commit to it, you have to run cards to support it, which inevitably reduces space for other in-archetype cards."
My Bride is Mine: "But, if you build around the Ritual mechanic, it's still quite strong. After all, Chaos MAX Dragon is strong. Yes, very strong. And it can also be used as Fusion Material for that Dragon Master Magus!"
...
The blogger's final words made the duelists who were still wondering how to summon Dragon Master Magus freeze for a moment! So that was it!
Looking at this Ritual monster, its effects were even more absurd!
Effect 1: While this card is in the Monster Zone, it cannot be targeted or destroyed by your opponent's card effects.
Effect 2: If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict double piercing battle damage to your opponent.
DM World
After seeing the first effect, Seto Kaiba was even more shocked by the second! Double?! The piercing damage was doubled?!
"What? Are you kidding me! This Blue-Eyes Ritual is a cheat code!"
"4000 ATK with double piercing!"
"Wouldn't my little insects get sliced in one hit?" The one speaking was none other than Weevil Underwood! Even he couldn't handle this! His insects were usually set face-down for their Flip effects and had low DEF! If he took 2000 damage, he was finished!
"Whoa! For real! This card is nuts!" Rex Raptor was also terrified. "The one-shot wonder! Who would dare to set a monster face-down anymore!"
A single card had made the champion and runner-up of the regional tournament feel like quitting!
Seto Kaiba, on the other hand, was even more ecstatic! He was even starting to feel like his Blue-Eyes was truly invincible! The Ritual engine! It was completely worth running a small package! Even if it meant risking a bricky hand, he had to run it!
