Warhammer: The 11th Primarch - The Black Emperor

Chapter 190: Human Traitor

Nareth pondered for a moment before deciding to walk into the trap set for him by Slau Dha.

From his memory of Slau Dha's actions, he confirmed that the Autarch of the Biel-tan was a dangerous figure lurking in the shadows.

Today was the best opportunity to deal with this venomous snake.

Nareth did not believe he would lose to Slau Dha, who wielded a Sword of Vaul.

If he could capture Slau Dha, he could extract information about the Cabal and the methods used to create perpetuals from his mind.

Nareth knew that members of the Cabal came from various intelligent species in the galaxy, including both the Aeldar and humanity.

Their goal was to eliminate Chaos at any cost, saving the galaxy.

Currently, the Cabal's plan involved using young human civilizations as sacrificial offerings.

They had been operating in secrecy for millennia, recruiting psychics and perpetuals since the ancient Terra era, subtly changing the course of major events to align human history with their interests.

Cabal operative Damon Prytanis was different from John Grammaticu; he was wholly devoted to the Cabal and even referred to his own race, the humans, with the derogatory term Mon-keigh used by the Aeldar.

After the battle of Iwo Jima, he was recruited as an assassin by the Cabal, living a life marked by betrayal and death. He had killed both "good people" and "brothers."

In M19, he assassinated Holiard in the Glass Temple of Manunkind; in M22, he killed Maser Hassan at the Spire Terrace; and in the final years of the Age of Strife, he killed the notorious tyrant Narthan Dume of the Pan-Pacific Empire.

For Nareth, who would ascend the Black Emperor pathway, the Cabal was undoubtedly an enemy.

The crucial point was that the Cabal had already marked him as a threat, and understanding this mysterious organization would help him deal with them more effectively.

Additionally, the Cabal was, aside from the Emperor, the only faction that held the secret of creating artificial Perpetuals.

Slau Dha had used knowledge obtained from the Cabal to resurrect John and turn him into an perpetual.

By mastering the secrets of perpetuals, Nareth could make his capable subordinates, like Arsena Dun and Mariena Scala, into perpetuals, giving them ample time to rise to higher ranks.

'Slau Dha also has control over the "War Mask" and the secrets he's acquired after walking multiple paths. Even if the Sword of Vaul is not made of psychic materials, it is still a formidable weapon.'

With this in mind, Nareth made his decision. Seeing that the Biel-Tan forces in front of the Governor's Mansion had been eradicated, he spoke up.

"Leave three squads to take this Aeldar and other spoils back to the Throne of Shadow's Sovereignity."

He took large steps forward, the crimson chains restoring the psychic energy he had spent with each stride.

Entering the palace, he killed the scattered members of the Aeldar he encountered along the way.

Moments later, he reached the innermost depths of the palace and looked toward Francesc Soler.

The governor laughed heartily and sarcastically said, "Lord Nareth, thank you for your timely rescue."

"Bold!"

The Honor Guard glared at Governor Soler, and immediately, four of the Shadows of Order took swift steps up the marble staircase.

"Foolish, the great Aeldar, and the people of Asuryan are the noble race."

"As ignorant Mon-keighs, we should serve our master."

"Only then can we be enlightened."

Nareth heard this and reflected for a moment.

'Did Slau Dha follow the path of the Mind or the path of Deception? Hmm, Grammaticus's mind isn't easily controlled; it must be the path of Deception.'

With this newfound understanding of the enemy, Nareth was more resolved than ever to deal with Slau Dha, the venomous snake in the shadows.

His consciousness expanded toward Francesc Soler.

"No!"

The governor let out a miserable cry as he saw scenes unfolding before him:

The noble race he admired was shot by exploding bullets.

The Aeldar's promises of enlightenment were a lie, and he was nothing but a fool to them.

.....

The scenes Francesc Soler witnessed caused him to collapse instantly.

The governor knelt in agony, pounding the ground with his fists.

"False! All false!"

His eyes bulged, his fists bleeding, but the images continued to haunt him.

Nareth used his psychic abilities to reveal the harsh reality to the traitor Francesc Soler, causing him to die in terror.

At the moment of the governor's death, he keenly felt as though some mechanism had been triggered, and the entire space changed.

The hidden psychic formation was activated, and the Governor's Palace began to rumble.

The marble floor beneath his feet cracked, first rippling like the surface of water, then shattering completely.

With a sharp, ear-splitting boom, a brand new deep valley opened beneath the feet of the Shadows of Order.

Wilshire reacted first. Without time to warn the other Honor Guard members, he sprinted toward their Gene-Father.

Nareth gave him a surprised glance and immediately compared him to the 524 Honor Guard members in this squad, confirming that this quick-reacting son was named Wilshire.

'Recommended by Bradshaw and Hollis, they have good eye for talent.'

Nareth's thoughts spun quickly, focusing on dealing with the collapsing ground.

"Psykers, brace your shields and protect the surrounding Honor Guard members."

Arsena and the other psykers of the Honor Guard raised their force field and psychic shields, shielding the surrounding Shadows of Order.

In the next moment, the massive gap swallowed everyone, along with the crashing rocks and falling marble debris.

Nareth struggled to maintain his balance during the fall, lifting his left arm to protect his head.

He sheathed his power sword back in its scabbard, twisting his body, reaching out to grab Wilshire's arm, and pulled him over.

The roaring sound of collapsing rocks drowned out all other noise as they fell rapidly into the dark, blurry underground world.

For a moment, Wilshire felt as though the fall would never end, but he didn't panic. In fact, he felt proud.

Among all the Honor Guard members, only he had fulfilled his duty.

Wilshire realized that the entire Arena was a conspiracy, and the treacherous xenos and the foolish governor who sided with them were after their Gene-Father.

When the Primarch supported him, he felt a surge of energy in his body, and then forced himself to detach from his admiration.

He desperately tried to assess the surroundings and search for the enemy.

But his helmet's visor was filled with jumbled signals and provided no useful data.

After several seconds, his helmet's vision gradually stabilized.

Wilshire turned his head and saw numerous tunnels stretching out in all directions, twisting in the dark.

He saw squads of Aeldar soldiers in the tunnels, standing at attention, looking up at them.

Wilshire confirmed that the xenos had set up an ambush.

Wilshire tried to contact the other Honor Guard members through his helmet's communication system, but there was no response, and the communication channel was filled with interference.

He checked the enemy search system, threat indicators, and close-range scanning, but found nothing.

Wilshire attempted to use his inhereted innate abilities to sense the surrounding environment.

He immediately realized that he had returned to the blurry memories of a normal boy.

'Some sort of interference from the xenos.'

While Wilshire was lost in thought, he fell into the tunnel, with debris crashing against his armor.

He felt the Gene-Father's hand leave his arm, and a calm voice rang out, filling his body with power.

"Follow me."

Wilshire quickly followed Nareth as they moved through the tunnel.

Suddenly, the Gene-Father spoke.

"The enemy is coming."

Wilshire cautiously scanned the surroundings, but saw no sign of the enemy.

The Shadows of Order remained vigilant; they knew that their Gene-Father would not be wrong.

Suddenly, Wilshire's black eyes rippled with disturbance.

Enemies wearing green combat armor and wielding chainsaw swords emerged from the shadows.

Each of the green-armored Aeldar warriors had a yellow symbol on their chest.

The top half of the symbol was an upright triangle, with two curved arcs extending from the sides.

The bottom half was a vertical line crossing three horizontal lines, connecting with the triangle above.

Wilshire immediately raised his explosive rifle and fired a shell at the xenos.

The Shadows of Order's eyes widened in shock; the explosive shell hit the green armor perfectly but caused no damage to the xenos.
