Warframe Voidwalker : Multiverse Journey

Chapter 97: Chapter 97: Shockwaves Fall, Flames Extinguish

Marcus wasn't about to waste such a perfect opportunity.

Taking advantage of his opponents' temporary blindness, he launched several energy blades from his sword, then transformed into light to deliver a killing blow to the Gray Knight.

The energy blades served as his shield, cutting through the spreading shockwaves and carving a path forward.

In seconds, Marcus passed through the barrage of shockwaves and reached the Gray Knight. The razor-sharp edge of the Exalted Sword tore through the Knight's body, reducing him to pieces.

Though they had been corrupted, that only gave them resistance to Void energy. Even with their enhanced powers, they couldn't escape the fate of being cut down by the Exalted Sword. After all, the corrupted only had one life.

The Gray Knight's body lay in pieces, his severed head staring blankly at the sky.

With one Knight down, Marcus turned his attention to the Red Knight.

This flame-manipulating mutant had been dramatically enhanced by corruption. Her current mastery of fire was on an entirely different level than before.

As her vision cleared, she saw her companion—one who had fought alongside her for ages—torn to pieces on the ground. The flames surrounding her body intensified with her rage.

A massive cobra made of pure flame materialized beneath her feet. It lunged at Marcus, spewing an enormous wave of fire that engulfed him and everything nearby.

BOOM!!!

As the flames rained down from above, Marcus was submerged in a sea of fire. The entire area instantly transformed into a bubbling pool of lava.

But Marcus remained unharmed. When the Red Knight launched her attack, he'd already planned his counter.

The moment the inferno descended, he shifted into the Rift Plane using Limbo's powers and rushed toward the Red Knight through her own flames.

In this parallel dimension, Marcus passed unscathed through the earth-melting fire, rapidly closing the distance to his target.

The instant he reached the Red Knight, Marcus transformed into Excalibur and burst from the Rift Plane. With one swift motion, the Exalted Sword severed her head from her body.

Though her body still burned with flames, the beheading caused those same flames to consume her completely.

There was a certain irony in a flame-controlling mutant being devoured by her own fire.

Marcus had no time to reflect on this. The moment the Red Knight fell, Apocalypse launched an attack of his own.

A blue-gray ray shot from his scepter, but Marcus had no intention of engaging Apocalypse yet. His plan was to eliminate all the subordinates first.

To avoid being intercepted by the remaining Knights as before, he transformed back into Limbo and slipped into the Rift Plane.

Apocalypse's attack passed harmlessly through his intangible form, striking the ground and creating a massive explosion.

The material world's chaos didn't affect Marcus in the Rift Plane. No matter how Apocalypse attacked, Marcus remained untouched. The explosion even provided cover, making his movements more unpredictable.

When Marcus reappeared, he stood directly in front of the Black Knight, his Exalted Sword already mid-swing.

"Help me!" the Black Knight shouted desperately.

Though Marcus appeared suddenly, the Knights had witnessed the deaths of their comrades. They remained vigilant, and at the first sight of Marcus, the Black Knight worked in perfect coordination with the White Knight.

Using the White Knight's telekinetic powers, the Black Knight successfully evaded Marcus's lethal strike.

The two Knights continued their teamwork. Countless boulders flew toward the Black Knight under the White Knight's mental control.

As the boulders reached him, the Black Knight kicked them toward Marcus like cannonballs, one after another.

But Marcus had seen this tactic before. It was no more effective now than it had been the first time.

Facing the barrage of flying boulders, Marcus swung his sword and released energy blades that sliced through the rocks, sending the pieces flying to either side.

Then he charged directly at the Black Knight, determined to eliminate the only melee combatant first.

Seeing Marcus coming for him again, the Black Knight leaped into the air and continued punching at the boulders controlled by the White Knight, sending them hurtling toward Marcus.

Roars echoed through the sky as countless boulders fell like torrential rain. Marcus, standing on the ground, became the focal point of this stone downpour.

Even the X-Men had to retreat to safer positions as the barrage intensified.

Marcus's expression remained calm. He raised his Exalted Sword and released a series of energy blades, slicing through the falling boulders above his head.

The boulder onslaught failed to harm Marcus, but it created a hill of rubble beneath his feet.

"Now... it's my turn!"

Marcus shot into the air like an arrow. In a flash of light, the Exalted Sword slashed toward the airborne Black Knight.

But the Black Knight, still under the White Knight's telekinetic control, rose higher in the air, avoiding Marcus's attack.

Marcus pursued relentlessly. He transformed into light again and rushed after the Black Knight. While charging, he deployed Javelin, surrounding himself with energy swords all aimed at his target.

The Black Knight wouldn't be caught so easily. Under the White Knight's control, his body suddenly twisted, performing an aerial maneuver that allowed him to pass by Marcus entirely.

When Marcus tried to strike with another light-speed attack, the Black Knight shot downward toward the boulders below at high speed.

A boulder materialized in the Black Knight's path. Seeing Marcus's approach, the Knight grabbed the boulder and hurled it at his airborne pursuer.

Above Marcus, another massive boulder appeared from nowhere. The two boulders converged from above and below, threatening to crush him between them.

But Marcus's abilities extended beyond the Exalted Sword. During his fall, he instantly transformed into Limbo and entered the Rift Plane, easily passing through the boulder thrown by the Black Knight.

The moment he returned to the material plane, an invisible rift energy flew from his hand and spread toward the Black Knight.

The airborne Knight suddenly lost his connection to the White Knight's telekinetic control. Without support, he began plummeting toward the ground.

His enhanced physiology—thick skin and powerful muscles—meant he could survive a fall from this height. Where others would be reduced to a bloody mess upon impact, he would endure.

As soon as he landed, the Black Knight heard a whistling sound from above. Looking up, he saw several energy swords already descending upon him, mere inches from impact.
