Warframe Voidwalker : Multiverse Journey

Chapter 92: Chapter 92: The Corruption of Apocalypse

Seeing Marcus, Charles was stunned for a moment, then heaved a sigh of relief.

He wasn't surprised that Marcus was still alive. When Logan had found them ten years ago to stop Raven's actions, Charles had already received news about Marcus from his future self.

"So you made it back after all," Charles said with a weak laugh as he lay on the ground.

"Of course I came back. I haven't collected my paycheck yet," Marcus replied with a grin.

Energy surged beneath Marcus's foot as he stomped down hard. Apocalypse's mental form was crushed instantly, exploding into countless fragments that dissipated throughout Charles's mindscape.

With the connection to Apocalypse severed, Charles no longer felt the pain. He lay comfortably within the mental projection of Xavier's School.

In the physical world, Apocalypse suddenly froze mid-defense against the group's attacks.

His mental body in Charles's mindscape had been destroyed by a stranger wielding strange powers—powers that had rendered him helpless in the mental realm.

In that moment of vulnerability, Erik and the others found a flaw in Apocalypse's defenses and unleashed their full strength against it.

Schick!

Two metal bars pierced Apocalypse's body, followed immediately by red energy beams and crackling lightning.

His body took heavy damage from the barrage of attacks. If not for his accelerated healing, he would have died instantly under their combined assault.

But even with his healing ability, he couldn't withstand everyone's attacks forever. His spirit was severely injured, making it impossible to defend himself.

A metal spike shot through the lightning and pierced Apocalypse's head, pinning him to the ruins.

Seeing this killing blow, everyone gradually stopped their attacks. No one could survive such a fatal wound.

Just as everyone began to relax, a dazzling light suddenly appeared above Apocalypse's head. The energy from this light enveloped his body.

Apocalypse, previously blue-gray in color, began turning golden in the light. The metal bars impaling him disintegrated into powder, reforming into a scepter in his hand.

His wounds healed rapidly, his body recovering in seconds. Even his damaged armor reshaped itself.

"Huh? Why am I sensing Void fluctuations?"

Marcus, who had been reminiscing with Charles in the mindscape, suddenly frowned. He could feel disturbances in the Void.

But who besides himself possessed Void powers that could cause such fluctuations?

Sensing something unusual, Marcus cut short his conversation with Charles and prepared to investigate.

Energy waves emanated from Charles's body as Marcus reconstituted himself in the physical world.

Jean stood by Charles's side looking dazed, lost in thought. She didn't even react when Marcus appeared beside her.

Marcus paid her no mind, focusing instead on the source of the Void fluctuations. That's when he saw the figure bathed in Void energy.

"Apocalypse? Wasn't he blue-gray? And why does that light look so familiar?"

Looking at the now-golden Apocalypse, Marcus had countless questions.

After observing for a moment, he finally recognized the light emitting Void fluctuations—it resembled the Void fissures that appeared when opening a Relic in the game!

The energy released by Void fissures corrupted living things, enhancing the combat abilities of those who became "Corrupted."

That's exactly what was happening to Apocalypse now. Bathed in energy from the Void fissure, his golden appearance signaled his complete corruption, along with a significant power boost.

"That's strange. I don't have any Relics with me, so what could be attracting Void fissures?"

Marcus was confused. From preventing the dark future to encountering these space-time anomalies, events were unfolding beyond his expectations.

If he possessed a Void Relic, he wouldn't be surprised by the appearance of fissures. After all, opening Void Relics required the Void Light that emerged from these fissures.

But he didn't even have an empty Relic shell in his possession. How could Void fissures appear?

This puzzled Marcus deeply. He was genuinely curious about what Apocalypse possessed that could attract Void fissures.

"Everyone keep attacking!" Erik shouted, manipulating countless metal pieces to strike at Apocalypse.

He had a terrible feeling that once Apocalypse fully awakened, he would become even more powerful.

Following his command, the others unleashed their abilities—red energy beams and lightning bolts raining down from the sky.

Every form of attack blasted toward Apocalypse, but none could even touch his armor.

Apocalypse was now wrapped in an invisible spherical shield. Their attacks hit this barrier and created spectacular flashes, but caused no damage whatsoever.

As the Void fissure gradually closed, Apocalypse slowly descended from the sky. He was now dressed as a noble pharaoh, radiating majesty.

The moment his feet touched the ground, Apocalypse opened his eyes, which now shone with golden light.

The surrounding ruins instantly turned to yellow sand, gathering around him.

"Hmm... has this guy been buffed too much?"

Marcus knew Apocalypse's mutant ability was powerful, but previously he had needed to use his hands to control matter. Now he merely opened his eyes and transformed entire ruins into sand.

With a light step, Marcus vanished and rushed toward Apocalypse. He needed to figure out the source of the Void fissure.

The corrupted Apocalypse tapped his golden scepter lightly against the sand.

Countless grains gathered beneath his feet while nearby metal structures disintegrated one by one, drawn toward him.

Soon, a metallic pyramid that resembled gold formed behind him, and then massive amounts of sand condensed and rose from the ground.

In moments, a pyramid even larger than before towered before them. At its peak stood a gold-cast spire that caught everyone's attention.

Strange symbols were engraved along the spire, emitting mysterious light under the sun.

Apocalypse stood calmly on a stone platform before the pyramid and slowly raised his scepter.

Vwoosh!

A beam of light shot from the scepter to the tower's peak. When it struck, the mysterious light at the top rapidly transformed into blue energy, spreading along the strange symbols covering the pyramid.

"Whatever you're planning, it ends now!"

With the sound of cracking armor, Marcus appeared in the air. A heart-piercing wail erupted from his form.

"Lost Skill: Gaze!"

Countless tendrils wrapped around Apocalypse's body, freezing him in place like a sculpture.

But before Marcus could relax, he watched in horror as the tendrils began rapidly melting away from Apocalypse's body, allowing him to break free from the immobilization.
