Warframe Voidwalker : Multiverse Journey

Chapter 79: Chapter 79: Sentinel Assault

"Something's coming!"

Someone called out, pointing to several transport ships emerging from the mist in the distance.

The vessels were slowly approaching, surrounding them from all directions.

"Heh, perfect timing!"

Marcus rolled his wrists as void energy enveloped his body. Before everyone's eyes, he transformed into Xaku [Resonance of the Void].

His transformation surprised Bobby and the others. They hadn't expected Marcus could transform, and the skeletal form he took wasn't exactly pleasant to look at.

"Charles says you've all been trained, so let's see what you can really do."

With that, he leaped onto the temple roof.

The higher vantage point gave him a better view of their surroundings and the approaching threat.

After hearing Marcus's words, the others continued reinforcing the temple while preparing for the Sentinels' arrival.

Dark clouds filled the sky as countless lightning bolts flashed overhead with thunderous roars.

Storm's eyes turned completely white, with arcs of electricity dancing across her body. The Demon's Touch in her hand was now surrounded by lightning, transforming into a crackling electrical whip.

Beside her, Bobby transformed into his Iceman form, standing guard in front of the temple alongside Colossus, whose body had converted to living steel.

Bishop and others also took up defensive positions against the approaching transport ships.

Sunspot's body radiated intense heat. Bishop drew energy from Sunspot's hands to charge his weapons.

Next to them stood a beautiful woman named Blink, her hands pulsing with purple energy, ready to release at any moment.

"Well... not bad. Definitely better than those guys."

Marcus was referring to the freed prisoners. Though they had built the place into a simple fortress, their efforts seemed largely pointless.

The Sentinels wouldn't fall into their traps as easily as they imagined.

"Hey, dagger guy! Tell them to get their weapons and stop wasting time."

A man with a dagger was lying on the ridge beside the temple. Marcus didn't particularly care about the prisoners' fate. Though he had rescued them, he wasn't responsible for their safety. A simple warning was sufficient.

As time passed, the transport ships drew nearer, making many nervous.

"Here they come!"

With that shout, everyone watched as black shapes poured from the transport ships—Sentinels, dozens of them.

Detecting the cluster of mutants below, the Sentinels attacked relentlessly while still in flight.

Their scales flipped as they released various copied mutant abilities, raining destruction from above.

"Defensive positions!!!"

Storm shouted as she soared into the air. The dark clouds above her head boomed with thunder as countless lightning bolts struck downward.

She swung the Demon's Touch, slashing at the Sentinels with electrified fury.

BOOM...

Several Sentinels were struck by lightning, electric sparks erupting across their bodies.

But these few were nothing compared to the attacking army, which continued its advance.

Bobby, now fully in Iceman form, performed admirably. He shot ice crystals from his hands, creating slides beneath his feet to rapidly approach the Sentinels, attempting to freeze them solid.

"Am I expecting too much from them?"

Marcus observed that most of them fought individually, only occasionally coordinating their efforts. The best performer seemed to be Blink, the beautiful woman with spatial powers.

The energy in her hands opened spatial portals. When Sentinel attacks came in, she simply opened two gates, redirecting the attacks back at the robots themselves.

"I think I overestimated Charles and his pupils."

Marcus shook his head in disappointment.

His expectations had been too high. If these mutants' combat abilities were truly formidable, they wouldn't have been hunted by Sentinels for so long.

With their current capabilities, it wouldn't take long for the Sentinels to overwhelm them completely.

"Lost Skill: Deny!"

A beam of light erupted from Marcus's fingertips, targeting the approaching Sentinels.

The void energy beam traced an arc through the air, instantly piercing through several Sentinels.

Watching the robots explode mid-air, Bobby and the others stared at Marcus in astonishment. They hadn't expected this man—who might be as old as the Professor—to possess such devastating power.

Some swallowed nervously, shocked by the destruction Marcus's single attack had caused.

The Sentinels, nearly invincible to them, were like paper before Marcus. A single beam had destroyed multiple robots effortlessly.

"Didn't Charles teach you how to fight properly?"

As he spoke, Marcus launched himself skyward like a bullet. The energy sword in his hand scattered deadly arcs with each swing.

The clustered Sentinels were chopped to pieces, their remains scattering across the ground.

But Marcus didn't stop there. Void energy continued to surge through him. Under everyone's watchful gaze, the broken armor covering his body exploded as he released two abilities simultaneously:

Super-Dimensional Purgatory and Void Grip.

In the massive explosion of the Super-Dimensional Purgatory, Marcus reduced to a skeleton with only void orbs surrounding him.

These orbs continuously emitted void rays, precisely striking the Sentinels. Beyond destroying their bodies, the rays suppressed all their copied mutant abilities.

"Their... their powers are disabled!"

The man with the dagger had the keenest perception. He immediately noticed that the Sentinels' copying abilities had been suppressed by the void rays.

His observation reached many ears, and the other mutants seized the opportunity to attack.

Normally, when facing mutant abilities, Sentinels would transform to counter and overwhelm them.

But now, though the scales on the robots flipped frantically, they couldn't adapt. This revelation energized the mutants, who unleashed their powers against the now-vulnerable Sentinels.

With the help of Marcus's Void Grip, hope surged through everyone as they fought back against their mechanical hunters.

For the mutants, Sentinels with suppressed abilities were much easier to handle. They no longer needed to struggle against constantly adapting opponents.

Iceman and Colossus worked especially well together. Sentinels frozen solid by Iceman were shattered to pieces by Colossus's powerful strikes.

Sunspot and Bishop also formed an effective team. Sunspot supplied energy to Bishop while shooting high-temperature fire columns that melted the Sentinels' bodies. Bishop's energy blasts then finished them off.
