Chapter 82: Ambush

Haven Academy

The massive doors of Haven Academy were forced open with a resounding crash as Watts stormed in, his face twisted in fury.

Behind him, Mercury, Emerald, Torchwick, and Neopolitan followed silently, their expressions ranging from annoyance to indifference. The tension in the air was palpable.

Watts' gloved hands clenched into fists as he made a beeline for Leonardo Lionheart's office.

The sound of their footsteps echoed through the empty halls, each step a prelude to the confrontation about to unfold.

When they reached the office, Watts didn't bother knocking. Instead, he kicked the door open with a thunderous bang, startling Leo, who was seated behind his desk, mid-sip of tea.

"W-Watts!? You're here! I—I—"

Leo's stammering was abruptly cut off as Watts' fist connected with his jaw, sending him sprawling to the floor.

"You imbecile!" Watts snarled, kicking Leo hard in the stomach, forcing a pained groan from the man. "Do you have ANY idea how much trouble your false intel caused us? We spent days stranded in a forest, repairing that damned ship because of you!"

He grabbed Leo by the collar, hauling him up before tossing him onto the desk. Leo let out a pitiful whimper as Watts reached for his handgun, the barrel glowing faintly with charged energy.

"You're a disgrace, Leonardo," Watts hissed, aiming the weapon directly at Leo's head.

"P-please! Don't kill me! I beg you! I'll do anything!" Leo begged, trembling.

Watts' finger hovered over the trigger, his anger barely contained, when a calm, composed voice interrupted him.

"How about we get the relic out now?"

All eyes turned to the corner of the room, where Raven Branwen stood, sipping tea as if the chaos around her were merely a minor inconvenience.

Watts lowered his gun slightly, turning to her with a glare. "Raven. Where's your Maiden?"

"Right here," Raven replied coolly, gesturing as Vernal stepped into the room.

"Finally, we can move forward," Torchwick muttered, tipping his hat.

Watts, still seething, nodded. "Fine. Let's get this over with. Leonardo!" He barked, making the cowering man flinch. "Get up. You're leading us to the vault."

Leo scrambled to his feet, clutching his watch nervously as the group marched through the dimly lit hallways toward the academy's lobby.

The oppressive silence was broken only by the echo of their footsteps, each step a reminder of the looming task ahead.

Mercury glanced at Emerald, his tone casual but carrying a hint of weariness. "Finally, we can get this job done. This has been exhausting."

Emerald sighed, nodding. "You're not wrong."

Reaching the center of the lobby, Leo approached the ornate statue. With trembling hands, he placed the watch against its base.

A low hum filled the air as the mechanism activated, and the statue began to descend, revealing a platform.

Raven and Vernal stepped onto the platform, their expressions calm but focused.

Watts moved to follow, his irritation still evident, but just as his foot reached the platform, a shadow dropped from above.

Mercury reacted instantly, shoving Watts aside as he intercepted a gleaming blade with his cybernetic leg.

CLANG

The sound of metal striking metal echoed through the lobby as Watts hit the ground with a grunt. He turned his head sharply, eyes widening at the sight before him.

Standing at the center, blade locked against Mercury's leg, was Rinko Schnee, his sharp blue eyes scanning the room with cold precision.

"W-what?!" Watts stammered, utterly flabbergasted. "Where did he come from?"

His mind raced, piecing together the scenario. "An ambush," he muttered under his breath.

"You!" Emerald snarled, her weapons already drawn, fury blazing in her eyes.

Rinko pushed off Mercury's block, flipping backward with practiced precision. He landed with the grace of a seasoned fighter, his blade gleaming ominously under the dim light.

Watts staggered to his feet, brushing himself off as he turned sharply to Torchwick and Neopolitan. "Go with Raven. Ensure they retrieve the relic from the vault."

Torchwick stretched lazily, yawning. "Fine," he muttered, motioning for Neo to follow. They stepped onto the platform with Raven and Vernal, who exchanged a brief, silent glance with Rinko before the platform descended toward the vault.

Watts moved to his console, pulling up a live feed. A sly grin crept onto his face. "The White Fang has arrived," he muttered.

Suddenly, the ceiling above shattered, and three figures dropped into the lobby.

Emerald and Mercury moved instinctively, weapons clashing with their attackers. Leo, trembling, barely managed to block a long spear aimed at him.

"King?!" Leo stammered, his voice filled with shock as he locked eyes with the bearded man before him.

King smiled grimly. "Hello there, old friend."

Leo pushed King back, his weapon shaking in his grip. "I-I thought you were—"

"Dead?" King interrupted with a smirk. "Please. I faked my death. But look at you, working with a witch now, I see? What happened to all those grand speeches about Huntsmen standing as beacons against fear?"

Leo's face fell, guilt flickering across his expression. "You wouldn't understand, King. I didn't have a choice."

King's smile faded. "You always had a choice. But now, you've left me no other option. You betrayed Mistral, slaughtered its Huntsmen. I can't let you destroy everything we once fought for."

"I'm sorry," Leo whispered before firing a blast of fire dust. "I'm so sorry, old friend."

King dodged effortlessly, landing gracefully a few feet away.

Nearby, Lendy tilted her head at Emerald, her lips curling into a teasing grin. "Nice hair! Those colors natural?"

Emerald growled in response, slashing furiously. "Shut up!"

Meanwhile, Yamon clashed blades with Mercury, his strikes relentless.

"Sup," Mercury said with a cocky smirk, easily blocking Yamon's attack.

"You're going down!" Yamon roared, lunging forward.

"Oh yeah? Let's see what you've got," Mercury retorted, delivering a swift kick to Yamon's chest, sending him skidding backward.

Yamon grinned, wiping his mouth. "You're not bad, but you'll regret that." He charged again, their fight intensifying.

Watts attempted to slip away unnoticed, but Rinko intercepted him, sword raised, his piercing blue eyes locking onto the doctor.

"So, the prodigal son returns," Watts sneered, adjusting his coat as chaos erupted around them.

The clash of steel and dust echoed through Haven Academy's lobby: Leo fought King in a battle that shook the walls, Mercury and Yamon exchanged brutal blows, and Lendy danced gracefully around Emerald's ferocious strikes, her knives glinting as they narrowly missed their target.

Rinko remained calm amidst the turmoil, his gaze locked on Watts.

Watts's mocking tone cut through the noise. "Rinko Schnee, Jacques' bastard child. My, how you've grown."

Rinko didn't flinch.

"I remember you as a boy," Watts continued, his voice dripping with derision. "You'd sit in Jacques' office, playing with your sister while he scolded the staff. Ah, the nostalgia. Time truly flies."

"Shut it, Watts," Rinko said coldly, his grip tightening on his sword. His icy glare seemed to pierce straight through the doctor. "You've already lost. Surrender now."

Watts chuckled darkly. "Lost? Oh, dear boy, it's far from over. Failure is not an option. Not for our mistress."

"You're leading the world to ruin," Rinko shot back, his voice sharp and resolute.

Watts smirked, adjusting his glasses. "What of it? Doom is inevitable. I'm simply ensuring it unfolds on the right terms—ours."

Rinko stepped forward, his blade catching the light as his resolve solidified. "Not while I'm here to stop you."

Suddenly, the heavy doors of Haven Academy slammed shut with a deafening thud, the sound reverberating through the hall.

The combatants momentarily paused, their attention drawn to the imposing figure now entering the scene.

Hazel Rainart loomed in the doorway, his towering frame casting a long shadow across the battlefield.

Behind him, a squad of White Fang operatives stood ready, their weapons gleaming under the dim lights.

"I was starting to wonder why this was taking so long," Hazel rumbled, his calm yet firm voice cutting through the tension. "Seems like you've made some... unexpected friends."

Watts's irritation gave way to relief. "Hazel! Finally! You took your sweet time!"

The White Fang operatives moved to advance, but Hazel raised a hand, halting them. "No. This isn't your fight. Go outside and secure the perimeter. I'll deal with this."

The operatives hesitated for a moment, exchanging glances, but ultimately obeyed, retreating silently.

Rinko's gaze flickered toward Hazel, assessing the new threat.

Seizing the distraction, Watts bolted down a side hallway, his coat billowing as he aimed to escape toward his ship.

Rinko reacted instantly. Glyphs materialized beneath his feet, and with blinding speed, he closed the distance between them.

His sword sang through the air, ready for a decisive strike.

But just as the blade was about to connect, Hazel appeared in front of Rinko, his massive hand catching the sword mid-swing.

The blade dug into Hazel's palm, blood dripping onto the floor, but he didn't flinch.

Rinko's eyes narrowed in surprise, his grip tightening on the hilt.

Hazel stared down at him with an impassive expression. "You're not getting past me."

The tension between them was palpable as the chaos in the room raged on, both men bracing for what would come next.

Outside Haven Academy

"Prepare those explosives and ensure the timers are synchronized!" Adam barked, his voice cutting through the night as White Fang operatives scurried to obey, planting charges along the outer walls.

"Yes, High Leader!" a Faunus replied, crouching to secure a device.

Adam paced, his sharp eyes scanning the darkened perimeter. "Have we received any reports from the rear? I want their status immediately."

Before he could hear an answer, the faint rustle of leaves from a nearby tree drew his attention.

His instincts flared, and with lightning speed, he unsheathed Wilt, his blade raised just in time to block a chain whip tipped with knives.

Clang!

The White Fang operatives turned, startled, as a figure leaped from the tree, landing gracefully on the cobblestone path.

It was Sienna Khan, the former leader of the White Fang.

Adam's crimson gaze locked onto her, his expression a blend of disdain and amusement. "Sienna," he said, his voice low and cold. "I was wondering when you'd show your face again."

Sienna tightened her grip on her whip, the weapon coiling in her hand like a viper. "Stopping you, Adam," she growled. "This isn't the White Fang I fought to build. This isn't justice—it's carnage!"

Adam tilted his head, his lips curling into a sneer. "Justice?" he repeated mockingly. "You've grown naive in exile. Perhaps sparing you was a mistake."

He lowered into a battle stance, his blade glinting in the moonlight. "This time, there will be no mercy."

Sienna's eyes burned with determination as she snapped her whip. "Go!" she roared.

From the rooftops, Team JNPR and Team RWBY burst into action, descending like a coordinated storm.

White Fang operatives shouted in alarm as the teams knocked them out with precision strikes, weapons flashing under the night sky.

Adam's eyes flicked to the chaos, his grip on Wilt tightening. "Fire at will!" he commanded, his voice a thunderous roar. "Kill them all! Show no mercy to these humans!"

Gunfire erupted as the remaining White Fang soldiers opened fire, the battlefield erupting into chaos.

Amid the carnage, Adam turned his full attention back to Sienna. "Why, Sienna?" he demanded, his voice rising over the fray. "Why stand against me? I'm doing this for the Faunus! For our brothers and sisters suffering in Menagerie! This is their salvation!"

Sienna lashed her whip, forcing Adam to step back. "Salvation?" she spat, her voice trembling with fury. "You're leading them to ruin, Adam! This bloodshed won't earn us respect—only hatred and death!"

Adam smirked coldly, his blade deflecting her next strike with ease. "You always were too soft, Sienna. That's why I took your place. The White Fang doesn't need idealists—it needs warriors!"

Their weapons clashed in a fierce display of skill and power.

"Then you're a fool!" Sienna's whip cracked through the air, striking with precision, while Adam moved with deadly grace, his sword slicing through the night.

Above them, Ruby zipped through the air with Crescent Rose, disarming a sniper before landing beside Weiss.

"We need to neutralize the explosives!" Ruby shouted.

Weiss nodded, summoning glyphs to freeze the nearest charges. "On it! Cover me!"

Jaune parried a strike from a White Fang soldier, his shield absorbing the impact. "Pyrrha, we've got a problem near the south wall!"

"I'm on it!" Pyrrha called, hurling her spear with pinpoint accuracy to disarm another operative.

As the battle raged, Sienna and Adam remained locked in their deadly dance. Their clash intensified, each strike fueled by their clashing ideologies.

Around them, the tide of battle began to shift as Team RWBY and Team JNPR gained the upper hand, dismantling the White Fang's efforts piece by piece.

Ren's sharp voice cut through the chaos. "More of them are circling around to the rear!"

Nora slammed her hammer down with a resounding thud, sending a White Fang soldier flying. "Where are the reinforcements?! Rinko said the police would back us up!"

Weiss conjured a barrier of glyphs to deflect incoming bullets. "It doesn't matter! We hold the line, no matter what!"

Ruby's voice rose above the fray, rallying her team. "Everyone, stay strong! We've fought worse before. Let's give it everything we've got!"

"Now you're talking!" Yang shouted, landing a fiery uppercut that sent a White Fang soldier sprawling. She turned to Ruby with a grin. "Lead the way, sis!"

Ren dashed forward, his movements precise as he knocked out another assailant. "Focus on disabling them quickly. We can't let them overwhelm us."

Amidst the chaos, Sienna and Adam's duel remained the focal point. Sparks flew as Sienna's whip coiled around Adam's blade, locking them in a deadly standoff.

"Adam.. please.. Stop this." Sienna said, her voice steady despite the exertion. "This isn't liberation. It's genocide."

Adam pushed forward, his strength overpowering. "No.. They deserve to pay for what they've done to us! You're either with me, or you're against our people!"

Sienna's gaze hardened as she didn't responded, her resolve unwavering as she broke free of the lock, her whip snapping like lightning.

The battlefield was a cacophony of clashing weapons and determined cries, Team RWBY and Team JNPR holding their ground against the relentless White Fang forces.
