[VRMMO] Chaos Doctor

Chapter 76 – Dwarf welcoming test.

The news of the Evilin rescue as well as the whole truth of the incident spread wide and far though the city in the single day.

Many people calmed down and everything, but they also wanted to know who did that…. Yea, I asked the guards not to disclose the informations too much since I don't want to deal with random people, but still a lot of people saw me escorting the dwarf to the city and everything, so I was still bothered a lot.

So, I tried staying hidden a bit at least.

As for the dwarf, he was recovering. He wasn't tortured or abused since the necromancer did needed him to be at top shape at all the time. But still, he did needed to take a break since he was working nonstop each day.

But he did not forgotten about the deal made with me.

"Allow me to introduce this guy. He is the guy who had saved me as well as my new disciple. Wood Mask." – said the Evilin, introducing Phantasia to his apprentices.

"Hello. Hope we get along." – said Phantasia.

"You don't need to worry about this bastard over here." – said dwarf.

"I didn't just accepted him because he saved me, but he is also a skilled craftsman and I seen him work first handedly."

"But if you don't like it, you can watch him in action and then judge him. I'm not saying to accept him instantly or anything like that, since he is a total stranger and everything to you all."

"…Hm… Nah. I guess its fine, since he is the one who rescued you boss." – said the young male dark elf.

"True. We do own him for saving the master." – said the tall female orc.

"But its also true that you should prove yourself to us, so we wouldn't complain or anything like that."

"Don't worry, I will try not to disappoint you all." – said Phantasia.

"Good." – said dwarf.

"Anyway, I know you are good and everything kiddo, but I would like you to see bit more of your skills and then see where we should start for real."

"As you wish."

"Good."

"Then the first test is simple, just make some different type of weapons or armors and just let me see them."

[You have received quest.]

[Evilin test.]

[Evilin, the legendary blacksmith of the Dawn city has decided to take you as his apprentice. However, you have yet to prove how much you are actually worth in terms of crafting.]

[To see what you got, create different items to see what kind of creations you can make.]

[Armor set type items that consist at least of 3 pieces.]

[Weapon.]

[The extra slot item (Ring, bracelet, necklace or earrings.)]

[You are not allowed to use any materials with [Uncommon] rarity and above.]

[Reward: Depends]

[Failure: Depends]

(Hm… Seems simple enough.)

"So, I cannot use any special materials or anything like that?"

"Yes, just a simple ones."

"Materials are not the things that determines the blacksmith skills and often person own skills allows them to create something good enough, even without any high ranking materials." – said the dwarf.

"Hm… Understand."

"You can use this place workshop if you like as well as materials since we have a lot, but don't use too many since you are not yet the official disciple."

"Got it."

(The test seems pretty simple. I can use any materials as long as they are not [Uncommon] rarity and above.)

"Question. Do I have a total freedom when creating the equipment? For example, does the equipment need to have specific weigh limit?"

"For example a heavy armor that is good for knights, but too heavy for the mages will be no go?"

"Nope."

"As long as they are useable, it doesn't matter how heavy they are as long they are good and useable."

"Hm… Okay."

Phantasia fallowed one of the apprentices and arrived at the smith room.

"The materials are over there if you are wondering. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me." – said the female orc before walking away.

"…."

(Iron…. Cooper…. Beast fur, monster fur, huh. They have a lot of common rarity items? Wasn't expecting this.)

(Anyway, what should I create…. The quest stated that the armor set needs to be at least made out of 3 items, but there is no upper limit.)

(Hm…. Should I make an equipment set that also works with the weapon I make?)

(He said that there is no weigh limit, but it need to be usable…. Should I go with a simple design?)

(Over complicated design doesn't make things necessary good.)

(But if complicated stuff make good equipment than its fine.)

(…. Hm… Should I aim for bit hard, but not too hard to use equipment?)

(….)

(Hm…. Let's keep it a simple, but try to make it as effective as possible at its job.)

After decided what to create, I go straight to the work.

The design is both simple and bit special.

As for the extra slot item, I went and created an [Agility Necklace]. I honestly even made good one as well.

Anyway, after finishing my items, I headed straight to the dwarf and showed off my equipment.

"So… What exactly is that? An armor?"

[Wild Pugilist Armor]

[Rarity: Uncommon]

"Yes. It's a light armor, but with some proper defense."

"Boots, pants, chest and arms."

"As for the extra item, I went with necklace enchanting agility. I did made it pretty solid as well."

"I see… But where are the weapons?"

"There are gauntlets."

"Specifically the brass knuckles type weapon with sharp edge."

"I had also reinforced the back parts of the arms, since I though about making it be used as an shield."

"I was thinking of making something more complicated like for example an blade that can extended and then hidden, but for the martial artist and anybody who uses their fists it would instead get in their way."

"It would make their attacks bit predictable, but it would make it effective."

"However, for the brawler I think it was better idea to instead turn the back parts of the arms armor into shields, allowing brawler to block or counter attacks."

"Hm…. True."

"Martial artist and brawlers don't carry anything like shield, so instead of having part of the armor that cat act like shield." – said the dwarf while inspecting the armor.

"A simple design, but quite effective…. And the reason for the agility type necklace?"

"Two reason. Movement speed and the arms speed."

"The faster you can move your arms, the higher chance you have to block the attack."

"Vitality was also good option, but having an ability to block instead of taking hit head on is a better option, isn't it?"

"…. True… True."

"Very clever you bastard…. And the armor was not made half assed or anything. It's a proper made armor and everything…."

"Very well."

"This passes the test."

"Congratulation."

[You have completed quest: Evilin test.]

[You have obtained: 10 black iron / Your blacksmithing type classes receive class points.]

(Oh? That is a nice reward. 10 black – WAIT A FUKING SECOND?!)

(I got class points?!)

(You can get class points from quests?! HOW?!)

(Wait. They are only for blacksmith class ones, BUT STILL! WTF!?)

(I didn't obtained a large amount, but instead very small amount, BUT STILL I GOT SOME!?)

(I only though the titles were alternative method of obtaining class and stat points, but you are telling me the quests can also give you some?!)

"Anyway, now that you have proven that you have skills of the blacksmith and is not some nobody who relays only materials, it's time for training."

"The training is simple…. Well. Just be simple."

"?"

"Em… Simple?"

"Yeb."

"Simple."

"Like basic knowledge and stuff."

"Simple and basic crafting methods."

"I know, I know. You probably know about basic knowledge, but sometimes knowing basic "Basic" is not enough."

"You will often encounter problems that may not requite some over complicated or extremely special answers, but a simple ones. But what if you are unable to give that simple answer?"

"Not only that, but the better you are at the core basics, the better your overall crafting skill will be and this is the fact."

"Honestly, I can talk over and over again like old geezer why the basics are so important for many good reasons, but just fuck it."

"I will just say this. The basics and the simple methods are extremely important and should not be forgotten or left behind. There will often come time and need for them and so you should learn about them as well as develop them."

"It's better to do it now before you start encounter any stupid problems later on that may halt you completely."

"After the training, I will give you the second test where you will have to create some simple equipment. Like for example, create simple armor and sword with only basic and simple knowledge, but only at the core."

"Create simple and basic, but good equipment."

"The second test will be quite easy, but you can easily fuck it up, if you know what I mean… And if you don't then you will get bitch slapped by reality."

"And don't you even think to say or think that this is waste of time."

"Trust me, don't do it. I did and he straight up humiliated me afterworlds." – said the dark elf disciple passing by.

"Yea, he is one of the guys who forgotten about basic and got humiliated by reality when I gave him that damned second test. Honestly, even I failed that test when my teacher gave it to me for the first time."

"By the way, I'm not taking no for an answer."

"Everybody who wants to be my disciple and work for me shall do that basic training and test. And don't even think about taking it easy, got it?"

"Hm…."

(Well, he isn't wrong.)

(Basic are important, 100% sure. I even encounter some problems of my own where the simplest answers was often the right answers. And I meant that in terms of crafting, for example when I was trying to create that power crossbow for the first time. I over complicated things to the point it could not work where I just had to do simple changes instead.)

(And he probably means it about some future problems…. HE did proven his skills right in front of me when we were making the Unliving Heart AND during experiments. He indeed proven with his own actions that he is not some randomly skilled bastard, but a really hard working talented bastard.)

(So listening to him about basic doesn't seem like bad idea…. Not only that, but the quest he gave me did provided me with special class points for blacksmithing skills.)

(This was…. Completely unexpected situation and something I was even expected to be real and I'm still extremely shocked and confused about that whole situation.)

(I mean…. I never knew that the quest can give you skill points if not also stat points…. But this?)

(If I stay by this guy side and learn from him and doing quest for him will end giving me more class points, then I have now even more reasons to stay by his side and learn from him at all cost!)

(Not only for his blacksmithing skills and knowledge, but also for the class points.)

(The higher ranking classes are now consuming way more class points, making their growth much slower compare to the before.)

(However if by staying right next to this guy will prove me with class points… Then is 100%. I won't have need to spend any of my own class points on the blacksmith classes, allowing me to save up points and upgrade my other classes.)

(Heck. I was not expecting to gain that kind of power boost form it all, but I will gladly take it and if anything, I want MORE!)

"…."

(Oh…. Oh fuck…. Yea…. I kind of now realized some problems as well… Especially concerning that dwarf…... Hm…...)

"Okay. I will do it." – said Phantasia.

"Good."

"Fallow me. I will show you what will need to do."

"Coming." – said Phantasia while walking towards the dwarf.

(Well, there maybe a lot of problems and questions right now, but I guess I need to ignore it.)

(And for now instead focus on getting as much benefits as possible from being this guy pupil.)
