Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Legacy of Vengeance
September 30th, 2027.
My world shattered that day. My parents were caught in a violent armed robbery instigated by rebels trying to overthrow the city. They didn't make it out alive. It was the hardest moment of my life, but I always remember my mom's smile and the words she said to me every day when I was bullied by peers: "Son, you have to be strong to live in this world. Love those who love you, be kind to everyone, but show twenty-fold punishment to those who are evil and scum." Those words keep me alive whenever I remember them.
As the only child, I inherited a six-story apartment building and a compensation of 100 million from my parents' sacrifice. My parents had tried to evacuate the children in the hall room when the attack occurred—that's why they got involved. They were poor, but they were loving, and I will miss them forever.
A month after inheriting the house, I made a shocking discovery—hidden deep inside my father's cabinet, I found a letter.
When I read it, my heart sank.
The letter said:
"Someone very powerful is backing our relatives to take over the house and the family land. Your mother and I have been poisoned with an incurable disease. We will not live much longer. When you find this letter, sell the house and run far away, somewhere beyond their reach. We will be gone by then, but do not be sad. We are with you in everything you do. Your stupid father, Kajil Hesly. P.S. I wish..."
Tears started to flow uncontrollably.
"Father, you're not stupid at all. I love you, and I love you too, Mom."
A week later, I had made the necessary preparations to flee. All that remained was the house sale and retrieving the documents.
Where did I put those documents...?
I searched the house, then found them in a hidden compartment my father had prepared. After that, I set out to meet with a property sales management firm to finalize the sale.
---
One hour later...
"Hello, how may I help you?" The receptionist greeted me with a polite smile. She was a beautiful woman, around 23 to 26 years old.
"I'm here to sell off my property," I said.
"Please, come this way." She led me through the office and to a private room.
---
Inside the office.
"Hello, I am Mily Zed, the general manager here. And you are?"
"Emile Hesly. I'm here to sell the property."
"Please, sit down. Let me check the house documents."
I took a seat, trying to keep my nerves under control.
"Mm... everything seems authentic. The location is outstanding. Why don't you sell it to us directly? We will ensure you're satisfied with the process."
"Okay, how much will you pay?" I asked, keeping my tone neutral.
"Well, the current value of the house is around 150 million. But we have plans to use the land for several projects. I can offer you 950 million. Honestly, I should be offering you at least 1.5 billion because of the location, but..."
I couldn't help but mumble to myself as I processed the information. "That's why someone powerful is eyeing the land. Thank you, Dad, for keeping this a secret. My relatives haven't caught wind of this yet. Let's hurry and get out of here."
Mily Zed continued, "So, Mr. Hesly, we will give you 950 million now, and pay the extra 450 million later. We're short on funds at the moment, but we'll cover all the taxes."
I nodded, knowing this was the best deal I was going to get.
"No problem, Mr. Zed. Here's my bank account information. It's been a pleasure doing business with you."
"Thanks, Mr. Hesly. Goodbye."
---
I walked out of the office feeling dazed.
Wow… I didn't think I would hit the jackpot this big. My initial estimate was around 70 million, but now it's worth over a billion and a half... I'm a billionaire!
Perhaps the powerful person my father spoke of saw the value of the land too. Whatever the case, it didn't matter. All that mattered now was the future.
It's all in the past now. I will get my revenge, just like my mother said—twenty-fold. When I am powerful enough, I'll make them all pay.
But first, I'll take my father's advice to heart. He told me to run far away, and that's exactly what I'll do.
Far from here... far from here...
---
Greenlake Continent—Forren City.
I didn't know much about Forren City, but it was far from the reach of my relatives and the powerful forces looking to destroy me. Greenlake Continent here I come…
Forren City, welcome your new billionaire. It will take about two to three weeks to get there, but right now, saving my life is the most important thing.
---
Seven hours later...
"Everyone, please make sure your seatbelts are fastened. The plane is about to take off."
---
The journey ahead would be difficult, but I was determined. The pain of losing my parents and the weight of their last wishes would drive me forward, as I sought power, vengeance, and the life they dreamed I would have.
