Villain's Valor: A Noble Fantasy Resurrection

Chapter 285 Experiments

"You're doing it wrong," she said softly while adjusting Ema's posture. Ema had an extremely serious look fixed straight ahead. I adjusted her arms and legs, spreading them a little. I stepped back and put my hand on my chin, looking at her for a few moments, and couldn't help but let out a small laugh.

"Are you laughing at me again?!" She dropped her serious look, quickly changing to one of total annoyance, crossed her arms, and pouted resentfully. Her face was dirty with a bit of sweat trickling down her forehead. She stood upright, looking away, wearing a training suit that fit her body perfectly. Her body was slim but very flexible. For the past five days, I had been personally training Ema. I have to say she learns a bit slowly, but it's fun to see how hard she tries, although she always looks for a way to run away at the slightest opportunity.

I still remember how once she asked me for some water after a day of training. I went to the kitchen, and when I came back, she was nowhere to be found. I looked for her everywhere, but it was completely useless. I couldn't find her; it was incredible how she managed to escape my detection. I searched for hours in all the places I thought she might be hiding. In the end, I gave up. The next day, she appeared so radiant, looking at me with mocking eyes and her adorable smile. I had to give up this time; she really did it.

"Sorry, sorry, my fault," I said with a chuckle. She pouted and gave me a sideways glance.

Bang!

The back door opened, and Lysandra and Charlotte entered. Lysandra had a tray of food in her hands, while Charlotte held a pitcher of what seemed to be fruit juice. They entered with smiles on their faces. Ema's eyes widened, and she quickly ran. She saw an opportunity and wasn't going to waste it. Like a flash, she quickly hid behind Charlotte while looking at me intently: "What's wrong, little Ema? Did your big brother bother you again?" she asked with a smile. Ema's eyes became red, and fake tears came out. Lysandra shook her head and rolled her eyes at the spectacle Ema was putting on.

Ignoring her, she walked straight ahead: "Good job," she said to me while placing the tray of food on a shelf. She took a handkerchief from her ring and began to clean Ema's face. Ema shuddered while trying to escape Lysandra's arms. Charlotte took out a glass and filled it with juice: "Here," she said, handing me the glass. Meanwhile, Ema jumped: "I want some too!"

In a few moments, we were all at a small makeshift table. The smell of vegetable soup reached my nostrils. It had a milky white appearance, with various types of vegetables floating on the surface. Taking a spoon, I brought a large piece to my mouth. The taste of the vegetables exploded on my palate. The flavor was mild, but the acidity gave it a unique touch. Overall, it was delicious.

Looking at Ema's frown and at the same time Lysandra's gaze, the poor girl was struggling to bring a spoonful to her mouth. Ema looked at me with hopeful eyes: "Brother, help me!" that's what her eyes were saying. Smiling, I looked away. She had to eat her soup by herself; it was good for her. Her skin always had a healthy glow, and I didn't want it to disappear. She sank into her depression upon realizing I wasn't going to help her, and nervously, under Lysandra's watchful eyes, she had to eat the soup.

Charlotte simply looked at her with pity and ate in silence, not wanting to get into trouble either, so the best option was to pray internally for little Ema.

"That was incredible," I said, satisfied. I lazily reclined on the softness of the furniture. Closing my eyes, I let myself be carried away by laziness. It had been two weeks since the third event ended. During those two weeks, I spent a lot more time training my mana. Regarding the darkness, I felt I wasn't making progress. There were many more opportunities and forms I could give to the shadows, but at the same time, I felt something was missing. It was very frustrating. I practiced for several days without results. I tried asking the dragon for help, but he completely ignored me: "If I feed you, you'll never learn on your own," were his words. I had to agree with him on that.

Opening my eyes, I looked at my hands. A slight veil of darkness formed above them. I concentrated my mind; the shapeless mass moved chaotically. I was trying to give it a distinct tangible form. After a few minutes, I failed miserably. Shaking my head, I thought, the only things I could make were objects like a sword or tentacles, even some semi-tangible specters, but it wasn't enough. I wanted more. I wanted my own body to change at my will. After all, darkness could take any form.

Of course, saying it was easier than doing it. That's why I first tried to transform my hand, but I couldn't. Something was missing, a piece I had no idea about. Raising my head, I looked at the ceiling, my mind blank.

At that moment, I felt something emerging from my soul. The bright place darkened a bit. After a few seconds, a small humanoid figure appeared in front of me. Her tiny body was no more than 7 centimeters tall. Around her were small dark light specks that glowed and disappeared instantly. She wore a beautifully decorated black dress, and in her small ears, there were tiny stones. Her beautiful black eyes looked directly into mine.

The little fairy smiled mischievously, and the mana from her body emanated. It was a beautiful black, much—no, far purer than mine. It glowed faintly, and small dark light specks danced like fish in water. Her mana was so beautiful that even I was stunned. I could clearly feel the vast difference between her mana and mine; it was abysmal. Seeing my surprised look, she proudly puffed out her chest.

"Little rascal, come here," I said with a smile, trying to grab her tiny body, but she quickly disappeared. Her captivating laughter echoed throughout the room. After a few seconds, she reappeared in front of me. Her body's mana completely enveloped her. I watched in awe as her form became unstable, as if her own darkness was devouring her, only to give way to a beautiful black bird. Its wings shone with small colored flames.
