Chapter 272 An unlucky girl
A girl with black hair and eyes was hidden behind some trees, completely alone. Her name was Erika, a student of the Star class. Since the event began, she had found herself alone, and likewise, she fought her battles alone. Although she had nearly died several times, she had managed to survive until now.
At the moment, she was tending to her wounds from the previous battle, some deep cuts on her sides. She grimaced in pain and clenched her teeth, taking out a shiny green bead from her ring. Her eyes sparkled with sadness as she looked at her last recovery bead.
During these days, she had already used up the crystal she bought before entering the event. She had to admit that these beads had been of great help. They could literally help you recover and replenish your mana reserves, though they had their limits. They could heal wounds that weren't too severe, but regenerating a severed limb was impossible. At the very least, they could stop bleeding.
She squeezed the bead tightly and brought it to her mouth with regret, feeling the energy fill her body and her mana reserves replenish after a few minutes of waiting.
She stayed still and sat down, feeling a bit tired. She was proud of herself; surviving until now was quite an achievement for her. She was a calm and shy person. With a smile, she closed her eyes. It was a pity she couldn't find a group to join. Deep down, she knew that if she continued like this, she couldn't last more than two days alone.
She was getting a little anxious, but right now, she just wanted to rest a bit.
Just as she was about to get comfortable, her body hairs stood on end, and her danger senses went off like crazy. Her heart squeezed, and she quickly stood up. Her black eyes scanned everywhere, searching for the anomaly in the area, but she found nothing. In fact, the place became extremely silent, and cold sweat dripped down her forehead.
She felt as if some higher existence was staring at her intently, so she went on guard.
The place she was in turned dark; darkness spread from the ground to the sky above her. The extremely cold air passed through her body, making her shiver unconsciously. Even though visibility was obscured, she couldn't see herself. She began to panic and swung her sword wildly, trying to cut something, but it was futile. The darkness of the place not only clouded her vision but also her mind.
In her desperation, she screamed, but she couldn't even hear her own scream.
A circle of true darkness formed around her, moving wildly, creating grotesque shadows that filled the girl with even more fear. She felt as if her soul was leaving her body; she was the first to find herself in this situation. She closed her eyes tightly, giving up.
After a few minutes, the circle of darkness disappeared. In the center, there was no one, nothing. The girl had disappeared; there were no traces of her anywhere, as if she had never existed.

The girl opened her eyes, confused. She felt a piercing cold in her four limbs. She tried to move but couldn't; she was confused and afraid. She opened her eyes wide and tried to move frantically, feeling her mana completely sealed. Her heart began to beat very fast. Looking around, she found herself in what seemed to be an abandoned ruin in the middle of the forest.
Her eyes widened as she saw a group of people in green robes.
She instinctively felt fear. She was imprisoned with chains that sealed her mana, and she was completely alone. The cultists apparently didn't care in the slightest that the girl tried to escape, but they were calm; they knew it was impossible. One of them approached the girl. "Do you want to see the Lord's light?" he asked softly. Erika's lips trembled, and she quickly shook her head.
The man raised his head and looked into the girl's eyes with a smile.

Matías's figure moved swiftly through the trees. His sense of smell detected blood, and following the direction, he ran like crazy. After a few moments, he arrived at a place. His expression turned extremely cold as he could clearly hear agonizing screams coming from the ruins in front of him. His figure became translucent, and he ran with determination.
The agonized screams turned into pleas, then screams again. The same scream was filled with pain and desperation. Matías's heart pounded. This was very familiar; the ruins in front of him were almost identical to that day.
His eyes became transparent, and the space around the ruins reflected with sunlight. The place seemed to shine a little more. Matías's eyes turned into small mirrors; the ruins in front of him shattered like glass, and inside, there were five people in green robes. Matías's eyes widened. He had a hunch; the smell of decay filled the place.
The people stopped what they were doing and looked at the unwelcome boy.
Matías's heart trembled, his legs shook, and his eyes turned red. A great anger began to fill his heart; the worst memory among his memories came to life. Same robes, same smell, same crazy and corrupted people. Matías's fists clenched tightly, and just as he was about to lose control
"Help..." a faint whisper reached his ears. It was such a small voice, a weak and agonizing voice. Matías regained his composure, and his eyes shaped like small mirrors looked at a girl, or what was left of her.
Her legs were completely torn apart, she had deep wounds in points where the pain was unbearable, half of her arm was green, some bugs were moving on it, her chest was open, and blood pooled beneath her. Her eyes were tired, her body trembling. In her abdomen, there was a glowing green rune. The rune shone, and the girl's body trembled violently as she vomited a mouthful of blood.
She screamed in agony.
Matías's body froze again; the girl was very familiar. Yes, she resembled his mother. The girl's black eyes were bleeding, and she looked at him with pleading eyes. Find exclusive stories on My Virtual Library Empire
