Chapter 4: 3: meeting the new family
Blair steps out of the bedroom and is in awe of how luxurious everywhere looked, showing just how loaded this family is. She believes she's in luck to have transmigrated into a family that's at least loaded in money, so she won't have to worry about money when worrying about the upcoming apocalypse at the same time.
As she kept walking past so many maids, she noticed how they all flinched and quickly looked away before their eyes could meet, and she had a feeling this was because the Villainess already threatened to claw their eyes out should the maids ever make eye contact with her. Now wasn't the time to assure the maids she'd not harm, and so they don't need to be so scared of her. Presently, her top priority were her family.
She stepped into a large room which she assumed was the family's room, seeing as it seemed everyone was presently gathered here right now. She quickly counted them. There's a matured man that's clearly her father, two young men that looked in their early twenties, clearly her older brothers, then two younger boy and girl, her siblings as well, and a matured woman who she looked just like in this world, clearly her mother.
At once, they all glanced towards Raven, and their mouths dropped open as they regarded her, the shock on their faces almost comical.
"Y- you're home by this time, Raven?" Her father asked and Raven grinned as she stepped into the room, shocking them further because they don't remember the last time she has smiled at them, or stepped into this room for that matter!
"Yes, father! I'm gonna have dinner with the family as well!" Raven announced and everyone's jaw was on the ground. Raven wasn't sure of what she expected, but they all kept gaping at her, her mother just walked out of the room without a word, making rave: heart sink into her stomach.
Wasn't she doing this right? She wondered within herself as she approached her father, feeling a little awkward because she didn't know this man, but she promised herself she'll get to know all her family while stocking up for the apocalypse.
"Good evening, father. How are you?" She asked politely and her father regarded her in a frozen state for a bit before pulling her into a tight hug that knocked the breath out of her lungs.
"Oh, Raven… have you finally returned back to us?" Her father cried out as he caressed her back, sounding heartbroken and hopeful, his voice cracking a little and Raven instantly felt shitty even though she wasn't the one that actually caused him pain.
Her father was beyond happy right now. He had always hoped that one day his daughter would return back to the sweet girl she used to be before she suddenly turned into a different person overnight.
He had gotten tired of scolding Raven when she began to keep warward friends and do questionable things that soiled the family's name in their beloved state, but he had chosen to just let her do whatever she wanted when she decided to change. He didn't know if this meant she had fully changed, but he was just too desperate.
"Um, yes, I have. I'm sorry to have worried you so much." Raven breathed out as the hug loosened, then her father was cupping her face, so much love shining in his eyes that it made Raven's heart ache. In her last life, she never had a father having lost him at a young age, so this felt a little overwhelming.
"I knew the heavens would end up touching your heart one day!" Her father sighed softly and Raven felt guilt within her once again, especially because she wasn't even his real daughter.
"Don't believe her father, this is probably one of her tricks." One of the two men in their early twenties snapped, sounding pissed.
"Yes, and I'm sure she's just playing around right now. She'll be off to meet her gang of delinquents in a bit." The other snipped as Raven turned to regard them, and they were both scowling at her.
"Now now, you two, don't be too harsh on your little sister. I believe her." Her father defended her, but the boys scoffed and folded their arms.
"Of course you do, cause you still think the raven you knew when she was still alive is still within her, but I swear it's completely gone. And father you have no idea the kind of things raven does, the people she gets involved with, heck, the amount of ridicule we face because of her!" The first one gritted out and Raven sighed, hating that the original villainess is making this so hard for her.
"Guys, seriously… I've changed. I won't live that wayward life anymore, I promise, and I'll clean up my reputation so you'd stop getting ridiculed because of me…" she began but both boys still looked unimpressed.
"You think your reputation can ever get repaired? It definitely can't! And besides, we don't believe you. We'd have to see how you act in the coming days, then we'll see if you really mean those words." The second one bit out harshly, and Raven briefly wondered just how bad the original villainess' reputation is for them to be this annoyed. They all stormed out before Raven could say anything else and she sighed, feeling dejected. Clearly, she had her work cut out for her when it came to those two.
"Don't think too much about what they said, okay? They're just angry because they missed their baby sister so much and hated when you changed and told them you didn't need them anymore and wanted them to stay away from you no matter what cause you wanted nothing to do with them." Her father explained to her and Raven was so shocked.
What the fuck? How could the original villainess hurt her brothers this way? No wonder they spoke to her so harshly.
She'd have to properly apologize to them as fast as possible, and make sure it's as sincere as possible.
"They're right, father. I hurt them, and I'll make it up to them, I promise." Raven sighed in response and her father beamed, clearly pleased.
"Truly, I'm so happy you've suddenly changed! I hope you never revert back to your old ways, you hurt us all when you did that. I always gave you whatever you wanted, so I had no idea why you chose to walk that path." Her father sighed bitterly and Raven wished she had a response to that, but she didn't, so she just hugged the man.
After pulling away from the hug, she walked to the end of the room where her other two siblings were sitting . They seemed to be twins and no older than ten years. The girl was drawing, and the boy was tapping away on an iPad. She sat between them, not missing the way they tensed up and regarded her wearily.
Gods. Raven felt sick at the thought that the original villainess might have hurt them as well.
When they remained silent, she decided to break the silence.
"Lovely drawling." She said to the grip who gaped at her.
"You've never complimented anything I do." She blurted out, still shocked and Raven wanted to die on the inside.
"Oh…" she mumbled just as the girl continued.
"You never speak to me, for a long while. You never play with me, or do anything with me. You never let me into your room either. I was always sad about that cause you are my only sister." Tears filled the girls eyes as she spoke, and Raven officially decided that she hated the villainess at this point!
She was clearly such a jerk! Cause what the fuck?
Unable to stop herself, Raven pulled the girl into her arms and began to apologize for all the things the original villainess did, while promising her that she'll be a better sister to her on moving forward. Her sister was still sobbing in her arms and Raven felt her heart break even more.
"Promise?" The girl whispered and Raven nodded without hesitations
"I promise."
After the girl finally calmed down, Raven faced the boy who was regarding her wearily, and he spoke before she could, his voice blunt. "Aren't you gonna go stalk one of your crushes tonight?"
Ouch. So they all knew some of the shenanigans their sister gets involved in? How embarrassing.
Raven forced a laugh as she shook her head. "That's in the past, I'm never doing that again." She tell him and he nodded, then he handed her his iPad.
"Wanna play?"
As raven accepted the device, she was amazed that it barely took anything to get through this sibing.
After being extremely awful at the game, the boy grabbed his iPad back, then Raven faced her little sister.
"Where's mum? Shouldn't we go help her with dinner?"
The girl shook her head. "The maids are doing it, but you should definitely not go close to her!"
Raven's eyes widened. "What? Why?"
The girl responded. "Cause well, the last time mother asked you to stay home for my birthday picnic, you ended up fighting with her, then you said a lot of mean words to her that made her cry."
Raven was so shocked my thst revelatgom. No wonder wordlessly walked out after she arrived.
"Also, remember it's been years since you've had dinner with us? I'm so happy tonight." Her sister sighed excitedly, while raven's mind reeled.
She had planned to tell her family about the upcoming apocalypse tonight, but clearly that couldn't work anymore. first, she had to completely repair her relationship with the rest of her family thst still dislike her. She'll have to thoroughly and sincerely apologize to her mother tomorrow, and she quickly decided that she'll do that after getting everyone a gift in the house to show how sorry she is for all the trouble she has caused them.
She has her work clearly cut out for her, thanks to the original villainess!
