Chapter 22 - Hero Saves the Beauty

Chapter 22: Hero Saves the Beauty

Yang Yu casually called over a few bodyguards and ordered, “Take good care of these so-called experts. If anything goes wrong, you’ll be the ones to answer for it.”

Then he turned to the experts and warned, “If your plan works, money won’t be an issue. But if it fails… Hmph!”

His cold snort said everything that needed to be said.

The so-called experts broke into a nervous sweat. One of them, trembling, quickly corrected, “Advisor, love advisor—not an expert.”

Yang Yu didn’t bother responding and simply walked away. To him, it didn’t matter whether they were experts or advisors—results were all that mattered. Still, he couldn’t shake the feeling that their plan was too outdated.

Once outside, he hesitated for a moment before instructing his bodyguards, “You heard what I said earlier. Find a few unfamiliar locals to attack me. Make it look real, but Lin Jia can’t get hurt. Got it?”

The truth was, Yang Yu hated pain. But to win Lin Jia’s favor, he had no choice but to tough it out.

One of the bodyguards, noticing his hesitation, suggested, “Mr. Yang, you don’t need to actually get hurt. We can use props to fake the injuries, make it look tragic enough on the surface, and have the doctor exaggerate the severity.”

Yang Yu’s eyes lit up. “Not bad. You’ve got a good head on your shoulders. You take care of it. Do exactly as you said, but make sure Lin Jia doesn’t suspect a thing.”

The bodyguard, thrilled by the praise, eagerly set off to make the arrangements.

That evening, Yang Yu invited Lin Jia to dinner, but as expected, she turned him down, claiming she was too tired and not hungry.

However, Yang Yu knew that Lin Jia liked to take evening strolls through the coconut grove, so he had already arranged everything—clearing out the usual passersby ahead of time.

That night, Lin Jia strolled alone through the grove, occasionally stopping to take selfies.

Suddenly, two shady-looking men approached her, muttering in a language she couldn’t understand.

Though she didn’t grasp their words, she instantly sensed danger and turned to run.

In her panic, she tripped over a stone after only a few steps. The two thugs quickly blocked her escape, their faces twisted into sinister grins as they slowly closed in.

Terrified, Lin Jia sat on the ground, her face as pale as snow. “Stay away! Help!” she cried out.

Hiding in the shadows, Yang Yu watched closely. Seeing the timing was just right, he charged forward and swiftly took down the two attackers.

Then, he knelt beside Lin Jia, his face filled with concern. “Good thing I was worried about you and followed you secretly. Otherwise, you’d have been in real danger.”

Overwhelmed by fear and relief, Lin Jia threw herself into Yang Yu’s arms and sobbed uncontrollably.

While comforting her gently, Yang Yu discreetly signaled to the others in the trees.

After a while, Lin Jia started to regain her composure. Realizing that Yang Yu was still holding her tightly, she felt a little awkward and was about to pull away when he suddenly yanked her behind him.

Confused, she looked up and saw seven or eight more thugs surrounding them, brandishing knives and clubs.

Yang Yu shielded Lin Jia as he backed away and whispered, “When I count to three, I’ll fight them. You run to the hotel and get my bodyguards.”

Tears streamed down Lin Jia’s face as she clung to his shirt. “No! If we go, we go together!”

Yang Yu spoke firmly, “If you don’t go, neither of us will make it out. Be good and listen to me this time.”

Choking back her sobs, Lin Jia nodded.

“One, two, three!”

Yang Yu lunged forward while Lin Jia used all her strength to run toward the hotel.

As she ran, she glanced back and saw that although Yang Yu fought bravely, he was outnumbered. His arm was already injured, blood streaming down his sleeve.

Wiping her tears, Lin Jia sprinted toward the hotel.

As soon as she was out of sight, Yang Yu immediately shouted, “Alright, enough!”

He cursed, “Damn it! That actually hurt!”

Two makeup artists rushed out from the trees with their kits and got to work, making Yang Yu look as battered as possible.

Checking the time, Yang Yu waved them away and positioned himself on the ground, playing dead.

Moments later, Lin Jia arrived with reinforcements. Seeing Yang Yu lying motionless in a pool of blood, she collapsed onto him, sobbing uncontrollably.

“Don’t die! Please wake up! If you wake up, I’ll agree to anything you want!” she cried desperately.

Yang Yu almost jumped up in excitement, but for the sake of his long-term happiness, he forced himself to stay still.

Soon, an ambulance arrived.

Outside the emergency room, Lin Jia anxiously waited, her eyes swollen from crying.

Inside, Yang Yu lounged comfortably, smoking a cigarette. “Don’t wrap it so tight,” he complained. “If there aren’t any scars after I ‘recover,’ won’t that make me look suspicious?”

One of the “love advisors,” disguised as a doctor, reassured him, “By the time she finds out, it’ll be too late. Once a woman truly falls for you, she won’t care about a little deception. Just confess later, say something sweet, and at most, she’ll throw a little tantrum.”

Yang Yu nodded thoughtfully. “That makes sense.”

Then, with a wave of his hand, he declared, “Everyone here gets a million each.”

Laughter echoed through the room…
