Versatile Mage : Reborn As Mo Fan

Chapter 157: Chapter 156: Zhao Manyan Is Jealous

"???"

Zhao Manyan stared at Mo Fan, not saying anything at first, but it was clear from his face that he was completely confused.

"You've got to be kidding me!!!" Zhao Manyan shouted. He then looked at Mo Fan with utter bewilderment and asked, "Wait, how did you even manage that? Weren't you two at odds just a short while ago??"

Zhao Manyan just couldn't wrap his head around it.

"Last night I went to her room. After a night of my... efforts, she surrendered," Mo Fan said casually.

Seeing how Mo Fan described the situation so nonchalantly, Zhao Manyan was speechless!

Mo Fan continued, "Old Zhao, when it comes to women, it's not always about money. Especially around here, you just need to show dominance. Once they experience the magic of it, they'll be loyal."

Zhao Manyan was even more shocked. "What?! Isn't that stuff only supposed to happen in movies?"

"The principle's the same. Whether they're from here or elsewhere, many of them have an innate submissiveness. You just need to have the skill to unlock it."

"Well, of course I have the skill!" Zhao Manyan wasn't about to admit defeat. Sure, when it came to fighting and cultivation, he was leagues behind Mo Fan, but in matters of... other skills? No way he was inferior!

What Zhao Manyan didn't realize was that Mo Fan's devil bloodline also provided certain "advantages" in some areas.

As Zhao Manyan stewed in jealousy, Mo Fan pushed him out the door, ready to get some rest. Even though he didn't need sleep, taking a break was still necessary.

In the afternoon, the National team set off for Tokyo. As usual, their identities remained on hold, and even train tickets were registered by name. So, they had no choice but to take the subway to the outskirts of Osaka and then catch a bus.

Mochizuki Chiyou was with them too, but she looked noticeably more radiant today than she did the previous day.

Of course, Zhao Manyan, being in the know, couldn't help but look at Mo Fan with envy. Others, however, were unaware of what had happened.

When they got on the bus, Zhao Manyan clearly noticed how respectful Mochizuki Chiyou was toward Mo Fan. It was like she was treating him as her master!

Zhao Manyan thought to himself, "Damn, if I had known, I would've taken care of that female student myself last night."

Sure, he couldn't pull off Mo Fan's dominating style, but winning? He could do that. And with his family's wealth, that girl would've fallen right into his lap!

But it was too late. The opportunity had passed, and now all he could do was regret not acting sooner.

The journey was exhausting. After all, taking the bus from Tokyo to Osaka was a long trip, even if they were on the highway the whole time.

"When we get to Tokyo, I'll show you all the fun places," Jiang Shaoxu said, trying to lift everyone's spirits.

"Jiang Shaoxu, once we reach Tokyo, we have to head straight to the Sea Battle City," Ai Jiangtu doused her excitement with a cold response.

"Why the rush? Delaying by a day won't hurt anyone," Jiang Shaoxu replied, her tone flirtatious.

Ai Jiangtu wasn't having any of it. He reminded everyone, "We came to Sakura for Sea Battle City. That's where our first training will take place. And just so you all know, during the training missions of the national institutes from various countries, each nation will contribute resources to the Magic Association. Those resources will be distributed based on how well each team performs in their trials."

Jiang Shaoxu rolled her eyes and said, "Even so, there's no need to be so uptight."

Ai Jiangtu remained firm. "Some of our team members haven't advanced to the high-level mage yet. This trip to Sakura might provide a rare opportunity for them to do so. If you're not interested, feel free to go have fun in Tokyo."

Upon hearing this, Zhao Manyan immediately perked up and asked, "Advancing to the high level? Damn, what kind of resources are we talking about?"

Mu Tingying, overhearing this, couldn't help but laugh. "Zhao Manyan, don't get your hopes up. Even if we secure those resources, it's not going to you or to Mu Ningxue."

She was feeling smug. Without the support of the Mu family, Mu Ningxue wouldn't get a share of the team's resources.

That little tramp, what could she possibly compete with?

There's no way Mu Ningxue would break into the high level.

Zhao Manyan, clearly frustrated, looked to Ai Jiangtu for confirmation. Ai Jiangtu nodded in agreement.

"What the hell?! They don't even consider us people!" Zhao Manyan fumed.

"You're lucky you're even allowed to train with the team. With your lack of talent, cultivation, and without a high-level magic seed, this is the best you can hope for," Guan Yu chimed in, mocking him.

"You piece of crap, don't act like you're a high-level mage either. You're just a mid-level loser, same as me!" Zhao Manyan snapped.

"Cough, cough... there are still quite a few mid-level mages on the team," Jiang Yu interjected, trying to diffuse the situation.

Zhao Manyan quickly apologized. "Sorry, sorry."

He hadn't meant to insult everyone, just that annoying Guan Yu. Since joining the team, Guan Yu had been a constant thorn in his side.

While they bickered, Mo Fan glanced over at Mu Ningxue.

This was a tough time for her.

Though it seemed like an opportunity to take advantage of her vulnerability, Mu Ningxue was not the type to accept charity.

Mo Fan certainly had no interest in being anyone's lapdog.

Not wanting to dwell on it, Mo Fan turned his attention to Mu Nujiao, who was sitting nearby. "Jiaojiao, once we get to Sea Battle City, I'll be going with Mochizuki Chiyou to escort something."

"Escort what?" Mu Nujiao asked, looking puzzled.

"I'm not sure yet, but once the job is done, I'll receive a reward. It's a bounty mission," Mo Fan replied.

"You're not interested in that Sakura girl, are you?" Mu Nujiao asked, a hint of suspicion in her voice.

With Mochizuki Chiyou's figure and face, it was hard for Mu Nujiao not to be a little wary.

Mo Fan didn't answer, not wanting to lie. Instead, he leaned in and gently kissed her on the lips.

Caught off guard by Mo Fan's sudden affection, Mu Nujiao blushed and quickly forgot all her questions. She wasn't unfamiliar with intimacy, but public displays of affection still made her shy.

Seeing her reaction, Mo Fan wrapped his arm around her waist.

Feeling his arm behind her, Mu Nujiao blushed even more but obediently snuggled into his embrace. "Mo Fan, will you ever leave me?" she asked softly.

Mo Fan smiled and replied, "No, you'll always be my little wife."

Though she was content with his answer, Mu Nujiao knew what the word "little" really meant. But she chose not to say anything.

After all, Mo Fan was just too exceptional. She understood that expecting a man like him to be faithful to one woman was unrealistic. It was hard to accept at first, but now things were different.
