Chapter 204: Birth of a False God I
Delilah's voice was soft yet teasing as she broke the silence, her golden hair catching the surreal, shifting light of the aurora above them. Her fingers lightly brushed against Merciless's cheek, a playful smirk curling on her lips.
"So, what'll it be this time?"
She asked casually, to which Merciless replied back as such, a small hum escaping his mouth as he lay back and enjoyed the small service of relaxation.
"Hmmm?!"
The hum under his lips was barely audible as Delilah commented once more.
"Your next wish... and try not to make it as ridiculous as the last one, hmm? I've only just recovered from granting that."
Delilah's lips curled into a wry smile, her golden eyes glinting with playful mischief.
"Not that I don't enjoy the attention; it's entertaining watching the reactions from those of the lesser order. But the higher order? Oh, I can feel their glares from here, and let me tell you... they're absolutely terrifying."
Delilah tilted her head slightly, her fingers idly threading through Merciless's soft black hair. Though his gaze was elsewhere, i.e., her nipples for a moment then the desert lands, hers was fixed far beyond their immediate surroundings, peering into the vast expanse of existence along the Cosmic String that housed their universe.
This single thread was but one among infinite strings, and together, those strings wove into the Great Cosmic Knots. Beyond that, an endless number of these knots made up their Composite Universe.
Her awareness stretched through the layers of reality, her own string, and other strings as well, where her own personal influence reigned supremely separate from her own universe, where the system of fate and time is the Zone of Fate.
Her law, "Hangman," had stretched vastly Across a countless number of strings in not just this knot but other knots as well where her power had transcended or replaced the natural order of fate, she personally could feel the ripple effects of Merciless's wish.
None of the beings within these threads could discern the source of the disturbance, yet all with significance or those with affinity to fate felt it.
A profound shift in destiny; maybe other composite felt it as well given the plac Merciless wanted to go is connected to all composite universe in the sea and the sea itself, but sadly she would not know, although every string her power stretched into was definitely ensnared as far as he can tell or sense.
As such, destiny would work in favor of Merciless the most in the places where her own power had influence. Beyond that, destiny would work in uncertain ways beyond what she can see, as such, beyond her control.
But nevertheless, she was enjoying the reactions she was seeing at this moment.
Some trembled in unease, their instincts warning them of an unseen force reshaping their futures. Others were merely puzzled, struggling to comprehend the unseen chains now binding their fate. To them, the cause was unknowable, but the repercussions were undeniable: their destinies had been irrevocably altered in favor of another, and they were powerless to resist.
Many did not know they were endangered, and that was the vast majority, although rare are a few anomalies of beings of equal power so little you can only count them on a single hand, basically shrug her power away.
What made this situation even more unsettling was that four individuals had managed to do this—four people who all existed within the same string as Delilah and Merciless.
The first was Wilhelm, whose wind passivley blew away; fate influenced itself in that moment, shielding everyone within G.I.F.T. from Delilah's law.
The second was Eos, the vampire king, who merely brushed against her influence with a subtle yet potent touch. His silent intervention carried such gravity that even her wish recoiled, leaving his fate untouched. The forces around him retreated, surrendering him to the hands of uncertainty instead.
The third figure was more elusive.
From where Delilah sat, she couldn't see them clearly, only fragments of their being, for they were inside a place with a lot of different types of reality anchors working in unison. Advanced technology, supernatural forces, and a complex network of influence created a barrier she couldn't properly penetrate. All she could discern was the setting: a massive building rising from the heart of a desert on Planet Hellmora.
The structure was a fortress, heavily fortified with advanced weaponry, space shuttles, towering facilities, and armed guards patrolling its perimeter. Within its walls, countless supernatural beings, Kryptids, and other known objects and species were either imprisoned or exploited.
The place radiated an ominous energy, its secrets shrouded in many mysteries... The only clue she had about them was a large insignia that marked the organization responsible: G.O.D.
The fourth point of interest was also on Hellmora, in the heart of the Mythesos Woods. A hauntingly beautiful mansion stood there, its eerie presence palpable. Inside, a woman of striking elegance sat reading a book as she cut at flesh.
Her calm demeanor belied the macabre scene around her as she methodically dissected an SSS-rank superhuman, using him for her experiments.
Delilah's gaze locked onto the woman from where she was... And as though sensing her presence, the woman turned, her expression a mixture of fear and annoyance. Her voice carried a biting edge as she spoke.
"I know not who thou art be, but pry not into matters that concern thee not."
The woman, as Delilah understood, was a witch. Unlike the others who resisted her influence to some degree using various means, this woman was entirely unique, much like Merciless. She was completely detached from fate itself. If not for Delilah's own power revealing those who resisted her authority, she wouldn't have even known this woman existed.
But as Delilah studied her more closely, recognition finally dawned upon her of who she was.
'Hmmm... I see now... Hmmm, how foolish of me not to realize sooner. So, you're the Fairy Queen, also known as the Progenitor of Magic, and one of the oldest beings in existence. So ancient, in fact, that you're among the very first Lores to emerge. Like Eos, before his fall and punishment, you existed long before fate and time took shape, which explains why you're not bound by fate. You're one of the few singular beings in all of creation. But wait... is this an avatar? How did I miss Alice Dantes at first sight? Yeah, you don't look like the original one I know of, although I could be wrong; but one thing is for sure: if it werent for that mark on our right breast, I would have been ignorant to your identity, especially considering you're the Leader and Founder of the Nine Orders of the Faeries.'
Delilah said to herself as she looked back at Merciless and thought to herself.
'Hmmm, either way... it seems you have many people connected to you, despite being disconnected from fate. Your journey, or rather, Brunhilde, the one in charge of your fate, seems to deem these terrifying individuals essential for you to meet. How unsettling... Well, that woman is unpredictable. Honestly, just meeting Alice Dantes is something I'd rather avoid. From what I've heard about her, she's one of the few people the Pillars can't control—a true wild card in creation. Some legends even claim she was once a worm who arrived here before the method by which worms can enter this world even existed.'
'But truly, the people in our string are quite terrifying. Compared to the nobodies in other strings, ours is exceptional in many ways.'
Delilah said it herself; after all, more than anyone else, she knew just how terrifying the people in her universe were.
Among the infinite strings Delilah had encountered, none compared to theirs. This particular Cosmic String was so incredibly powerful to the point that it was home to some of the most powerful beings in all of existence.
Its laws were absolute, its reality unfair and cruel.
She was certain that their string was one of the strongest, if not the strongest, in the infinite knots, a dominant force within the vast tapestry of the Composite universe.
While infinite strings made up each knot, and infinite knots formed the whole composite, their thread stood apart—an anomaly, you could say. Its laws were so deep and had so much potential, and so far-reaching, they had the power to ripple through other strings, subtly altering and ensaring them without their inhabitants even knowing.
For those now caught in the wake of Merciless's wish, it felt as though their destinies had been rewritten, twisted into a new pattern they couldn't comprehend or break free from. Though they had no understanding of where this change had come from, they all felt it, or those with the affinity to know when their fate and destiny got ensared into something much bigger than them, as a quiet, unseen force pulling them toward a future now shaped by someone else's will.
Although Merciless was like a baby monster, still far from possessing Delilah's cosmic awareness and unique perspective, he was starting to shape the universe around him in ways even he couldn't fully grasp. Delilah, on the other hand, saw the change and the reactions unfolding, and a small, greedy smile curled on her lips as she turned her attention back to him.
"Dear Customer... I'm curious to see where you'll end up in the future."
She said, her voice tinged with amusement.
"But I'll ask again; your first wish has been granted... Soooo!! What will your second wish be?"
Asked Deliah to wish Merciless replied back, as he got from her soft thighs, and look into the outside world and said.
"You know, I've been planning this for a while."
Merciless said, his tone thoughtful as he looked at her.
"So tell me, Delilah... Just how strong do you think I am?"
At these words Delilah answered.
"Far stronger than any Level 5 vampire out there, purely in terms of power and abilities alone."
Delilah said, her voice cool but admiring.
"You're basically a chimera made of so many different things. Even some of the spawnlings couldn't handle you. I can see traces of Kitsune blood, human, superhuman, so many others. My point is, you've got a ridiculous amount of abilities, and you've even stolen others' ichor. You're way beyond the typical Level 5, especially with those tails of yours."
She paused, glancing at him with a hint of curiosity.
"Hmm, you've got two Sin abilities, but for some reason, I can't see what they actually are. Your Michellian bloodline is still dormant, so no Ichormancy yet. Your tumors are trying to read me, but it's not easy. Your eyes, though... quite the ability. The power to alter information to your will within the line of sight, many would kill for eyes like that. But... what exactly are you getting at here dear customer?"
Asked Delilah to which Merciless replied.
"Well...
He started, his tone deliberate.
"I've got over 100+ abilities in my arsenal... You could say I want to make use of every single one of them. My goal is to reach a level of proficiency where I'm not just wasting my abilities. For example, with these new Level 5 powers, a lot of my other abilities are probably going to get forgotten and left behind."
"What I really want is a way to optimize myself, make sure I'm always operating at 100%, constantly. I don't want my powers to fade into the background and be forgotten just because something new and better comes along."
"Even if some of these abilities seem useless, they're still mine, and I want to make sure I never lose them.... even if I don't use them."
"As such."
He continued, his tone tinged with both curiosity and hope.
"This is more of a concern of mine, and, admittedly, a bit of a complex wish. Would it be possible for you to grant me the ability to systemize my powers within my own fantasy? You should already know I have a subjective reality. I won't lie, I don't want my abilities to go to waste. Even if I don't use them often, I still want to perfect them in some form or another, so I can always be at my peak. That's why my second wish is a bit complicated."
He paused for a moment, organizing his thoughts.
"I have a strong affinity for lies, illusions, fantasies, memories, all things immaterial. But at the same time, I'm deeply connected to the material world, the physical realm. What I want is to turn my powers into concepts; not something that floods out into the universe, of course. I understand that the universe already has its own laws. Instead, I want to create a tome, a completely new universe contained within a book."
Merciless said, on the other hand, Delilah had a dead pan look on her face as she said.
"What up with you, and all these complex ass wishes dear customer."
"Heheh... just hear me out Delilah then you can give me your thoughts on it."
"Ok sure."
Delilah said, as he continued.
"Basically the empty book is a place where no concepts exist at the start....Nothing at all, but with my powers, I could transform my unused abilities into concepts that manifest as ink. I'd narrate their progress, essentially creating a universe where my power serves as the foundation for its creation... and it origin of source."
"This universe within the book would remain distinct from this reality, meaning this reality clearly above it, also the book inside would stay a fantasy but a living one as everything inside is real but from this reality perspective it is just that, fantasy, while this world remains grounded in reality of course. But because it exists separately, I could use myself as a conduit to give form to its characters, drawing from the memories and stories I create for them. Essentially, it would be a living narrative, a universe born from my abilities, but confined to its own domain."
"So what do you think?... would that be possible?"
Delilah on the other hand just smirk as she said.
"Well I can grant any wish for as long as it stays in the framework of reality, that belive it or not is actually more easy than your last one. Although there will be a catch... one that you should take into consideration."
"And what would that be?"
Merciless asked, to which Delilah responded.
"Hmmm yeah I can do that Dear Customer... Creating a reality where you can play God is actually quite straightforward, you could establish your own rules and universe within it. However, the critical limitation is that this new reality would not be able to influence or directly affect this one."
Delilah said off the bat, as she continued.
"For your idea to work, the book would need to remain completely separate from this reality. That means no matter how powerful the concepts, or characters you create within that universe are, they wouldn't have any influence here unless certain conditions are met."
"The reason for this is simple: while your powers would serve as the source of the book's creation, most of those powers are tied to the laws and concepts of this reality. As such, this reality's laws are the absolute standard. Even if you design a godlike, omnipotent creator within the book's universe, its strength would still be limited by your own power here."
"Any character you create and try to manifest in this reality cannot be stronger than you, because their essence is drawn from you."
"Take your <<Memory Skin>> ability, for example... This power allows you to bring memories to life, effectively letting you shapeshift into the characters you create. But those characters wouldn't literally be pulled out of the book and into this world even if they are real in that universe. Instead, your unique ability would let you perfectly embody them using their memories. While they may be incredibly powerful in their own universe, their strength in this reality would still depend on the limits of your body and vessel. If your vessel isn't strong enough to house those memories, the manifestation would fail, regardless of how overpowered the character is in the book's world."
Delilah explain, and Merciless listen very carefully, as she finish with.
"But yes, if all you want is to play God in a separate universe, that's entirely doable. For most people, a wish like this would simply be a form of self-fulfillment, a way to indulge in their fantasies. But for you, this could be much more if you think about it... Because by creating and cultivating this new world, you're essentially turning yourself into a conceptual law, refining and growing your own essence. As <<Merciless>> you would represent an independent concept, entirely unique to yourself, because the name <<Merciless>> holds no inherent function or meaning as a law in this reality, it is just a name here. This kind of wish is definitely within my ability to grant; and it aligns perfectly with the nature of your powers now that I thnk about it."
At these words, Delilah rose gracefully to her feet and stepped behind Merciless. Her presence was magnetic, her movements deliberate as she placed both hands gently on his shoulders. Leaning in close, her lips just a breath away from his ear, she whispered with a teasing lilt.
"So, Mr. Arbiter... is this your wish?"
