Chapter 201: The Level of The Gods & The First Wish
"You came here for a wish, didn't you?"
Delilah said her voice was calm and almost conversational.
"Well, you're in the right place. But don't think it's going to be easy to negotiate with me... My wishes... they have a way of complicating things."
She said as she continued.
"Even the smallest favor from me can flip your whole life upside down."
Delilah said, leaning back with a sly smile.
"But let me make one thing clear: I'm not your average Djinn, but I also don't like uniform people bad for business, you see, so out of courtesy, let me enlighten you a bit, just so you can see just how special my wishes are."
Announce Deliah as she continued to explain something to Merciless, although he already knew what she wanted to explain to him, as he knew the topic as a result of Jordan and Hector's own memories coursing through him.
But regardless of that, he listens to her explanation nonetheless.
"You see, dear customer, there's something called cultivation templates. Think of them as a blueprint, a guide for how your power develops and evolves. Vampires, of course, get access to this naturally; it's practically built into your DNA. You all just ascend to that state of being as if it's second nature."
Delilah's chuckle grew with each word, her sly grin getting wider and spreading across her face.
As she continues her explanation on the topic.
"Honestly, you vampires are the ultimate cheat code if a cheat code was a race. Pure, unfiltered nonsense... All of you are literal walking contradictions; neither alive nor dead. You can say you nightwalkers are literal blatant middle fingers to the natural order of the universe... but I guess you can thank your kind king for that; after all, you are just bootleg versions of him, but you get my point about what I am trying to say."
Delilah continued her explanation, her tone both amusing and insightful.
On the other hand, Merciless simply smiled knowingly. He didn't need anyone to remind him just how unorthodox vampires truly were as a species of wannabee-overpowered non-living—living things that were.
In essence, all vampires are nothing more than pure information in the truest and absolute sense of the word; as such, truly killing them was very conditional, as they were beings of data; operating in flesh golems from an unknown plane, as that is all a body really is, a fleshy vessel, and a vampire can Bluetooth the info to the body passively.
This trait is so deeply ingrained in vampires that, unless another vampire explicitly revealed the truth to them, most could go an entire eternity completely unaware of it.
Those who did understand it, however, could manipulate their own existence in extraordinary ways, bending their unique spectrum to become not only harder to kill but, in some cases, exponentially more powerful than their peers.
Merciless was a vampire as well, but he was anything but ordinary. His situation was different. This body of his? It was just a tool; like all other vampires that have a body, to him, it was nothing more than a fleshy construct he used to interact with the world around him.
His true form, his real existence, was far more abstract, that being Correspondence. This essence wasn't just a part of him; it was him, the core of his being, in every sense of the word.
So he naturally sees why Delilah would think vampires were such an unfair race.
He himself shares this opinion as well; on the other hand, Delilah continued as she began speaking.
"But honestly, can you blame me for thinking of vampires as such anomalies? Every single one of you is a literal error in the natural order. Imagine what the universe would look like if every being operated like you vampires typically do as if it were normal. There is a good reason why vampires are considered legendary supernatural creatures."
"It's completely and utterly ridiculous... It's not even fair... Sigh!! Your kind, after reaching a certain level of power; what you call evolving, actually helps you hit a necessary threshold all Ascender desires but can't get it easily as you need to do certain things to get it, but you all just level up, and that grants you access to something called the Cultivation Template...
Delilah explains as if it were something important to note.
"Having that means you step into the realms of lesser godhood. If I had to rank the power and status of levels 4 and 5 in the universal hierarchy... level 4 would be considered a Semi-God, and currently, level 5 places you as a Demi-God in terms of universal status."
"But once you unlock your template, it means you're walking a specific conceptual path, one that aligns you with a concept that defines you. From that point on, level 6 vampires and above are considered God-tier entities by default, in terms of power."
Delilah mused to herself, She loves these topics; after all, she was a power-hungry bitch in every sense of the word, and continued speaking.
"Of course, to truly be considered a God, you need faith, and a lot of it. As for level 7, that can range anywhere from God-King rank to a Supreme God rank."
"Beyond that, Gods at the higher planes are ranked differently. Up there, titles from the lower planes mean nothing. The higher planes are filled with Arch-Typal Gods instead, the weakest of which are infinitely more powerful than any Supreme God existence in the lower plane; for example, myself is a Supreme God existence; their powers are so strong it basically an unfathomable gap in reach from where I stand at the moment. Down here, Godhood is measured in how far your law reaches; up there, it is measured in understanding; being up there means you view everything from down here as things akin to germs."
"For this alignment is what enables one to cultivate their chosen conceptual path in the higher planes. Generally speaking, it's around Level 6 that your kind starts bending the rules of reality itself on a universal scale."
"In the early stages, your influence begins to affect vast portions of a single universal region. By the mid-levels, your pseudo-law extends its reach, impacting entire regions or even multiple ones simultaneously. At the peak of Level 6, your pseudo-law starts to encompass the entirety of the universe itself."
"The universe, while finite in the sense of containing life and creation, is effectively infinite in its sheer spatial scale. The universe, where we currently reside, along with all life and its universal laws, is stretching endlessly in every possible direction. This expanse stretches outward into what is known as the Outlier Void, the Eternal Darkness, where creation and its concepts have yet to reach. It's a boundaryless space that is infinite in size, untouched by the light of existence, a spatial zone where nothing exists; well, not yet at least."
"It's only at Level 7 that your law starts to crystallize into its true form, becoming a foundational pillar for the lesser planes, enabling you to influence not just your universe but also other universes as well. Some Grand Elders, as your kind calls them, can even manage to extend their reach into other knots and cosmic strings."
Deliah said as she tilted her head, the sea of gold moved sligthly with her, catching the faint light as she studied Merciless reaction, From where she stood, she was very interested in him.
You could say this was curiosity on her part.
But there was a reason; she came here to meet him and as someone who is cultivating the Universal Law of the Hangman and the Root of Destiny.
She could see all fates and know all futures; to be honest, she came here not because of Merciless, but rather because it was the being she originally perceived him as from afar.
'Honestly, this child... is quite the catch indeed... it must be nice to be protected by that dreadful thing.'
Delilah commented; at this moment, she saw some information about him via the Roots of Destiny, but the genuine fucked-up part was that it was only because the thing that was protecting him allowed her to see it to begin with.
'Merciles Minerva Elderblood II, also known as Merciless Minerva Morningstar... Arbiter of the Black Thorn... title the Profane... and should be regarded as the Arbiter of Depravity... Age 283... race Variant Vampire... True Chimera.'
This was the information Delilah was seeing at this moment.
When Deliah looked into the Zone of Fate to see Merciless's destiny, she found… nothing.
Absolutley nothing at all.
Normally, every person's life is laid out in infinite possibilities, choices, actions, and outcomes branching off into countless realities.
But for Merciless, there was no path, no flow, no trace of fate at all within the Zone of Fate from as far as she can see. It was as if he existed outside the system entirely.
She wondered why for only a moment, but deep down, she already knew.
The answer was right in front of her: Brunhilde, the Daughter of the World Tree, had overwritten Merciless's existence with her own.
By doing so, she erased his fate from the Zone of Fate were the Root od Destiny also resides with a seperate space, and made him invisible to anyone who tried to interfere. His actions, his choices, even his origin were now hidden, replaced entirely by Brunhilde's presence.
This made Merciless a true anomaly, a wild card in creation if you ask her.
Even if someone tried to go back in time to stop him, they wouldn't find him, instead they will only find Brunhilde in his place.
Inn layman terms, Delilah was blind when it came to him.
Truly to her, it was both fascinating and unsettling.
So much so, she had to say ot herself.
'That one crazy bitch.'
But either way, making good connection like this, usually tends to be benefical either way.
So with that, she sat done, catching Merciless attention, as she said.
"Well, aren't you the intriguing one…
Delilah said, a chuckle escaping her mouth.
"But just so we are on the same page, I just want you to know that since I cultivate the law of the Root of Destiny, my wishes aren't just merley granted, in mosy cases they reshape reality and alter the destiny of others, to fit the desires of those who get a wish from me. But don't get too excited; I can't do everything, your wish is still very much depending on you, I like most Djinns, can only grant wish in accordance to something of equal emotional value."
"... Though…
Delilah gestured.
And Merciless paid attention.
"I must say, you've got quite the collection of points. Whether it's enough? Well only time will tell...
But what she did next, that made him ponder a bit.
Merciless's gaze swept over her with a flicker of profane amusement, lingering just long enough to make his intentions ambiguous. The sight of Lady Gold, naked and tempting body, only added to her presence, but his smirk betrayed neither intimidation nor hesitation.
"Well...
He said, his voice low and teasing.
"You do have a flair for keeping things… interesting."
He stepped closer, his demeanor shifting to a more flirty, yet professional demeanor as he said to Delilah.
"Naked ambition suits you, Lady Gold."
He murmured, his tone playful, as he continued.
"But tell me, are you always this direct with your customers, or am I just lucky?"
At these words, Delilah just laughed and said.
"HAHAHAHAA... Wellll... who knows, but why deny my service... I just want to make you more comfortable is all."
"... Comfortable you say kihihi... I am not easily swayed by temptation... but I will indulge you... although I won't be sitting on your lap... how about you treat me to a smoke or a drink and then we can talk...
Said Merciless, as he began to sit in front of Delilah, at this moment the Djinn just smiled slightly as she snapped her finger, and as a result, a large long, and black Kiseru tobacco pipe manifested in front of Merciless landed in his lands, as he looked at it and said.
"Oh my what beautiful craftsmanship...
On the other hand, Delilah just looked at him and said.
"Consider it a gift from me to you. Believe it or not, this Kiseru once belonged to a powerful being from the lesser plane. It's more than just a pipe, it's a tool designed to help you channel your abilities with greater precision."
"By drawing on your power and manifesting it as smoke, the Kiseru allows you to bring your intentions to life. For example, if you wanted to create a giant ice crystal, you'd simply exhale the smoke with that intention, and it would transmute into reality. In a way, it functions like a magical staff, as its previous owner wielded it to harness a vast array of magical abilities... although it has to stem from you meaning you have to have a certain power, to begin with... but that aside, it is a good smoke pipe, so kill go ahead and smoke to your heart content."
Merciless's eyes widened briefly as he examined the Kiseru, its intricate gothic design perfectly complementing his nu-gothic attire. With a steady hand, he raised it to his lips, taking a slow, deliberate drag. The motion was elegant, almost regal as if the act itself carried significance. As he exhaled, the smoke drifted lazily from his mouth, swirling into the air like a living thing, adding to his composed and dignified presence.
Looking at it, and feeling the sensation, he could not help but say.
"Oh my... how exquisite... it's been a while since I felt something as smooth as this, and the tobacco inside is coated in virgin blood... if I had to guess, you coated it for me... hehe... how thoughtful of you... talk about top-tier customer service."
Delilah just replied as such.
"Well, I'm glad you like it... Now then, shall we get to business? Tell me, Merciless... what could a man like you possibly wish for? Normally, I'm not particularly excited about these exchanges when it comes to curiosity, but you're a special case. So, tell me... what is it you came all this way to wish for?"
At these words, Merciless smile... as he took another drag of the Kiseru... and said as such, however, what he wanted was not what she was expecting, he did not wish for power, fame, or money, he did not wish for a weapon, he did not wish for anything. Rather he wishes for something unorthodox.
"You know… I've thought about this over and over again; changing my mind, thinking of trading this for that, maybe wishing for some kind of upgrade to myself. But in the end, I didn't want to waste this opportunity. What I wish for isn't power, but potential. And not just potential in the dormant sense, rather I want something far beyond that, potential in something else."
Merciless said as he continued.
"Dear Delilah, for my first wish, I want access to the Seed of Legends. I want to trick the world into believing I am a World Spirit... but to do that, I need to enter the Memories of the World itself. I already have a mental plane, but at my current level, I can't access that high-level place... That's why I need a bridge to that place... so for that reason, this is my first wish."
