Vampire Summoner's Rebirth: Summoning The Vampire Queen At The Start

Chapter 1459: A Problem With The Dwarves 2

The contents of the letter were simple, the nobles were refugees of some sort of attack that the Fierysmith Capital had received, which was also the capital of the entire small, mountainous continent. Apparently, a mysterious force had taken over most of the capital's population, placing them into a deep slumber.

They also spoke about it as if it were a strange Curse, slowly making people sleepy until they fell asleep, unable to ever wake up, they would fall asleep for days without end, slowly becoming dehydrated and starving.

A few people had already died out of starvation, as no magic can heal their endless slumber…

"Blake, this is bad…! That's Alberta's home…" Erika said. "W-What if something happens to her family?!"

"Hmm, we'll have to go there and solve this," I said. "That is no mere "mysterious force" but the doing of an Archdemon!"

"W-What?!" Evelyn was shocked.

"It must be… probably Belphegor, the Archdemon of Sloth, his power can force large populations to fall asleep and then plunge them into some sort of endless dream," I explained. "While he slowly drains their souls, the people that fall asleep are blissfully unaware until they die."

"W-Woah…" Erika muttered. "That's a whole different threat than what we've faced before…"

"How do you know so much?" Evelyn wondered.

"I've investigated them for a long time, and I've fought them as well," I said. "I have learned a lot about them and their allies from that… I can absorb their powers through souls, souls also store information, Evelyn."

"I-I see! That makes sense…" she nodded.

By this point everyone knew I could also harbor demonic and divine power, I was a complete irregular, but that didn't seem to make anybody more surprised than they already knew.

I couldn't simply tell them that I was once Asmodeus and that I know all of this from my many battles against the Archdemons, so this excuse was good enough for the time being.

But yes, I do remember Belphegor quite a lot, that bastard put entire planets asleep through a dense purple fog, entire populations, billions falling asleep and dying.

This was how he easily harvested souls for himself, and the worst part is that it is indeed a Curse too, a contagious one, which can only be dispelled through Celestial Power.

Back then, we had harbored that power through an Ancient Angel Artifact we found in a Planet that was once a Ancient Battlefield between them and demons.

Using the artifact's power, we dispelled Belphegor's Curse, and ultimately I managed to bait him to descend into his vessel, where I crippled him by hurting his soul enough for him to not try anything funny anymore for a while.

This gave us enough time to grow stronger through the years and when we finally reached Hell, I fought him again and then Sealed him, as I was unable to kill him as a part of Hell itself.

But now, it might be different…

He's well aware of my tactics, but his actions now mean he's also rather desperate to amass power, perhaps he wants to unseal himself already, or he's working on a new vessel like Mammon.

Or well, Lucifer is simply forcing him to do this.

"For now, let's call Alberta and everyone else, we need to talk about this."

Erika nodded, as we did just that, the news quickly spread around the Academy after that, as we met with Alberta back at our house, we wanted to talk with her personally before speaking with the Director and the rest of the teachers about this.

"I had no idea this was happening there… I've been so absent that… to think…" Alberta looked disheartened, as we sat around the table we always used to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner together. "My father and my siblings… mother… I… even if we don't have the best relationship I should've called them once in a while… Maybe we could have prevented this…"

"Don't blame yourself, Alberta, it's not really your fault," Eric said, patting her shoulders. "This is just the fault of the Demon named Belphegor… Whatever he's trying to do, we're going to stop him, so don't worry, we got this."

"Eric…" Alberta cried a little while being caressed by him, feeling slightly happy.

It seems Eric has indeed matured a lot, he's definitely not the same he used to be.

"At the very least it hasn't progressed to the point of no return like it did with my continent," Elfriedden said. "There's hope, Alberta. And I suggest everyone that we make haste, even a single day means even more people dying from hunger or dehydration as they slumber."

"I agree!" Erika nodded. "We gotta hurry, everyone!"

"Hmm," Elizabeth nodded. "As the Saintess and representative of the Church of the Holy Spirits, I shall bring along the church members to treat your people, Alberta. Now that I've finally ascended and gained enough authority, I can mobilize a large amount of Priests and Paladins with me."

"Oh, that's wonderful!" Alberta was really happy. "T-Thank you Elizabeth…"

"I should go as well, I'm kind of immune to that demonic stuff, maybe I can navigate on that fog," Erdrich said, crossing his arms. "We got your back Alberta."

"Yeah count me in!" Chris nodded. "Anything for my bro and his girlfriend, heh."

"Chris…" Eric smiled, shedding a little tear. "Thank you!"

"Then I suppose it is decided…" Evelyn who was present nodded. "Um, Lady Cattalina, do you agree to come too?"

"Of course," Cattalina was with us as well. "If it has to do with sleeping and other things, then my power over the Element of Dreams might help everyone else… I have to go; I cannot let what happened to the Elven Continent happen to the Dwarves… I know that Elves and Dwarves had a well-known enmity, but that's a thing of the past to me, and with someone as sweet as Alberta with us, a Dwarf, I feel that it is my responsibility to help, especially when she is one of my beloved daughter's dearest friends."

"Mom! Thanks!" Erika giggled. "See Alberta? We got this!"

Alberta's eyes widened, realizing how everyone cared for her and was ready for anything, as she looked back at me, the only one that hadn't said a word yet.

"Do you even need to ask me?" I smiled. "I was the one of the idea of going, so of course, I'll help."
