Chapter 1426: He's Been Tamed?!
-----
Evelyn was so happy to see us back and healthy she started crying, hugging us and even kissing us, she kissed each one of us in the face, something I have not seen any other teacher ever do. I suppose she truly cared and loved us… Maybe we should have brought her along instead of leaving her behind if that were to be the case.
"My children! I missed you all and I was so worried when I learned you fought that Evil Dragon!" Evelyn kept crying. "Uwaaahhh!"
"C-Come on now teacher, please just stop crying…" Chris muttered, looking rather embarrassed as he was being hugged by the lady.
"I guess she really missed us, huh?" Eric smiled lightly.
"Yeah, but is this really necessary?" Erdrich wondered, looking rather annoyed.
"Heheh, well, we also missed you teacher!" Erika said with a happy smile, hugging Evelyn. "I hope you've been fine since we went away."
"Well, I was given a lot of work anyway, so I've been quite busy, but there wasn't a day I didn't think about you all," she sighed. "You've sure grown bigger since we last saw you though… feels like more than a year went by instead than a couple of months."
"Ah yeah, what a coincidence right?" Alberta muttered with a forced smile.
"It just your imagination, teacher," Elizabeth said nonchalantly.
We couldn't just tell her about the time dilation we experienced in the Virtual World, it was something we decided to keep a secret and between us, a power that would be coveted by too many if it was known to the masses, at least for now.
As we talked with the teachers while enjoying a meal inside a restaurant in the airport, Dylan approached me to talk about what has happened so far, it seemed that the war in the north continued in the usual stalemate, barely.
However, things were going to soon change.
"And well, I am honestly looking forward to seeing how strong you've grown, Blake… That's why, please, let's spar. I need to test my abilities, and I've heard you've grown immensely strong. I think you could be an ideal sparring partner," he said with a confident smile. "While I'm here and not in the frontlines… I would like to at least get to fight someone equal to me. I'm always holding back after all…"
"Is that so?" I wondered, nodding. "Fine, very well. Let have it your way, Dylan. Let's spar to our heart's contents and find out who's stronger. I am not the same as two years ago, however. So please, don't hold back either."
"Hahahah! Aren't you confident? Alright then! I'm looking forward to this!" Nodded Dylan, cracking his knuckles. "So when do we do this? Actually, there's an event tonight, a student arena, we could participate there."
"You count as a student?" I asked.
"Kind of, I never became an actual teacher after all," Dylan nodded.
"Alright, we can have it tonight then," I said. "Until then, I would recommend you get ready and prepare well, or you'll regret it."
"Heh! I like that attitude, then I'll get going, thanks for everything everyone! I have to go prepare for tonight's arena fight with Blake," Dylan told the teachers, as he quickly ran back to the academy.
"That guy sure never changes, he's been like this even when he was a child, just what's wrong with him?" Evelyn sighed.
"Well, he's the hero, he's always itching for some battle," Cattalina said.
"Hmm, today is the student arena, although you guys won't participate, wouldn't it be nice to go there as part of the audience?" Ataraxia asked. "I am sure that the other students will feel happy that the new heroes will be watching over them."
"Sounds good to me!" Chris nodded.
"Sure," Eric agreed.
"If it's just watching, I don't mind going for a little while," Alberta seemed to agree too.
"I guess if it can't be helped, we'll do it," Erdrich said.
"Sure! Sure!" Erika nodded while eating donuts.
"It sounds like fun," Elizabeth smiled.
"Alright! Then it is decided, thanks for coming along then," Hector nodded. "And I'm looking forward to your spar against Dylan, that'll be really amazing to see. It might give the students what they need, some sort of hope in these dark times."
"It is as Hector said, your presence in here will most likely help us raise the morale of the students and the soldiers that will be visiting," said the Director. "Thank you for coming back despite not really needing to, we'll gladly accept you and help you finish this year."
"Thank you so much director!" Erika said with a gentle smile.
"Yeah, and I would like to apologize in regards of Blake ahead of time for the rudeness he might display in the future," Elizabeth said.
"Elizabeth, I am not a child for you to apologize on my behalf…" I sighed.
"Yes but I am well aware that you like acting rather rebellious, or sometimes like a delinquent, so please behave," Elizabeth said, glaring at me. "I would prefer if my future husband has a clean record for his bright future with me."
"I cannot really promise anything, sometimes in this world you have to demand or fight for what you want," I said. "But I'll try to be more considerate."
"Thank you," she smiled.
The rest of the teachers glared at us with surprise.
"S-She tamed him?!" Ataraxia gasped.
"Indeed! So that's the power of the Saintess!" Hellburn nodded.
"Thank you for saying what none of us could say, Elizabeth, you're indeed an exemplar student," Hasan smiled.
I choose to ignore what they said for now and just move on with the day as usual.
Once we finished our meals, I told all my Vampire Spirits to disperse into the city and prepare for what I was planning to do tonight, while also giving a good survey around the entire place.
On the way there, I noticed some people observing us as well, most were wearing special magic accessories to conceal their real appearances.
"…"
For a moment, I stopped walking by the side of my friends as they chatted and enjoyed the city, looking through a dark alleyway.
"Blake? What's wrong?" Erika wondered, as the rest of my friends looked back.
"We need to talk…" I said.
