Chapter 1412: Coming Back
-----
"I-Is… that so…" Yggdrasil muttered, filled with many emotions as she heard my words about letting Fafnir's soul pass away peacefully, despite everything. "…Thank you for your mercy, hero. He… he was once such a sweet child… even after he became what he became… I still… loved him as my son… This is… also my fault… everything…"
"G-Goddess Yggdrasil…" Elfriedden muttered, as he saw the goddess cry. "Please, don't cry…"
It was indeed very heavy stuff, a lot of revelations, which will never remain only for us, they must be told to everyone, all of the truth must be told, without missing a single detail.
Only this way will the elves learn about their past, and about the mistakes of their ancestors, so they won't repeat them again.
And, well, only this way will this cycle of hatred ever end.
"I suppose we're done here… Let's go. Yggdrasil, can you move with us to the port city?" I asked.
"Yes, I have already extended one of my roots there, it has blossomed into a large Spirit Tree, my first offspring in centuries." Yggdrasil smiled, cleaning her tears. "The people is amazed as well, they're all so happy… let's bring them the good news, and also… let's tell the them the truth, everything."
"Alright, well said," I nodded. "Let's go, everyone. It's time for us to take a well-deserved break."
I quickly distorted space as I manifested one of my spiritual cosmic dragon eyes, as we walked past it, we teleported to another place where another of the eyes were, the port city, Emerald Fountain.
The Rosenheim Dukedom was still going through repairs, so celebrations were scheduled to happen here. We received, naturally, praise and the cries of thousands of elves amidst the streets.
"The heroes are back!"
"They defeated the evil dragon Fafnir and even brought back Yggdrasil!"
"I can't believe it! Are they gods, rather than heroes?!"
"We will be forever grateful to all humans!"
"Even if it might have been too late, you still brought back hope to our hearts…!"
"Mama, mama! Look! It's the heroes!"
"I want to be a hero when I grow up just like them!"
Elderly, children, mothers, fathers, and more constantly clamoring around us, we walked through the streets riding on familiars because I knew it was the only way for us to be allowed to move forward, or they would swarm us.
"Welcome back, my dear future husband, and my hero!"
And in the middle of the city, Rosenheim greeted Elfriedden with his family, his mother and his little brother, and many of the other noble elves that survived through the battle against Mammon.
"My dear son, and all of your friends… you've truly accomplished something never possible before…! Thank you, thank you so much!" Elfriedden's mother was in tears.
"Big bro! You did it! That was amazing! You're amazing big bro!" his little brother said.
"Hahaha, yeah, I'm back home…" Elfriedden smiled, hugging his mother, Rosenheim, and his little brother.
"Very well, everyone! Today there will be a great feast throughout the entirety of the noble district, every citizen is invited to eat as much as you want! We celebrate the victory of the heroes against the evil Fafnir, the revival of Yggdrasil, and that our continent has finally found peace once more!"
Rosenheim didn't waste time rallying the population and gained their favor as she hosted a city-wide feast ahead of time, already having prepared everything just for this moment.
"Oh wow! Lady Rosenheim is amazing!"
"We can eat as much as we want?!"
"Mama, I can finally fill my belly!"
"Yes dear!"
"Is the nightmare finally over? After taking so many people… it's finally over…! It's finally over!"
"Despite being the last city… we must now make sure that our country remains protected!"
"Yes, we know!"
"Lady Rosenheim and her husband Elfriedden, the prince, are truly admirable people!"
"Now that the King is gone, who will take the throne?"
"Who else than Elfriedden and Rosenheim then?! They're made for this job!"
"Y-You're right! They're the new blood we need for our new future!"
The people rallied, cheered, and talked among themselves, their words reflected everything that has happened so far, from cries of relief and sorrow as they recalled those that couldn't make it, to happy and cheerful cries from children that never knew of the world before the catastrophe.
As time went by and we moved to the noble district with everyone else, we sat down over a large table surrounded by guards, where we enjoyed a meal with the elven nobles and all of my friends. Cattalina, Erika's mother, had also arrived in the flesh as well, meeting her daughter and learning of the news of our marriage, amidst the delicious feast which Erika could hardly stop eating.
"So you've proposed to my daughter! Oh my goodness, these are wonderful news…!" she said. "Blake, thank you so much for always being there for her! You two are made for one another! You have all of my approval and my blessings! I'm so happy…!"
She hugged me and even kissed my forehead.
"You will now be my dear son-in-law! I will love you and take care of you as my son as well!" she cried, although I felt like Erika got a bit jealous of her mother getting too touchy with me.
"M-Mom, stop annoying Blake! I-It's embarrassing!" Erika complained. "Let's just eat and enjoy the night! Also now that I am an adult I can drink wine right?"
As I heard my friends laugh, cry, and enjoy the feast together, which even included Braveblitz right by our side, eating metals and crystals offered to him, Rosenheim once more spoke through a voice amplifier device.
"Everyone! I know you're all enjoying the feast, but Yggdrasil herself has decided to grace us with her presence! She has a lot to say to us, the truth of everything behind what happened…! So please, listen well to her!"
"The truth?!"
"Lady Yggdrasil is coming here?!"
"Oh my goodness!"
The elves screamed in shock as they saw her divine spiritual presence manifest above us all.
And then, she told them the truth, everything.
