{Chapter: 255 Sink in the river?!}
The plump female employee, standing beside Lin Yuan, nodded earnestly. "Young Master Lin, what Mr. Qu said seems to be true. I tried to turn on the phone earlier, but it didn't respond at all. It really seems broken."
Everyone turned their attention to the phone in Lin Yuan's hand. With its cracked screen and worn-down keys, it certainly looked like an old, useless relic from the past. Was there really anything valuable in it?
But Lin Yuan didn't seem fazed by her comment or by Wang Qu's story.
He simply turned to the employee and said gently, "Thank you. That'll be all. You can go back now."
The woman gave a small bow and quickly left the room, still unsure of what had just happened.
Once she was gone, Lin Yuan turned his gaze back to Wang Qu. "I don't actually need you to tell me the password," he said calmly. "But if you did, perhaps there would still be a sliver of mercy left for you."
He said no more and instead placed his fingers on the keypad of the old Nokia phone. He pressed the numbers: 8848—then repeated them twice more, for a total of three times in a row.
As soon as his finger hit the final '8', something unexpected happened.
The screen lit up.
The phone, which just moments ago appeared broken and unusable, suddenly came to life.
A wave of shock rippled through the room. Gasps could be heard from the directors and staff alike. Even those who had doubted Lin Yuan now looked on with widened eyes.
Wang Qu's face, which had been calm and unreadable up until now, twitched noticeably. His eyelids jumped, and the corners of his lips involuntarily tightened. The calm exterior he had maintained so well began to crack.
But Lin Yuan didn't react to his visible discomfort. With the same calmness, he navigated through the phone's menu until he reached the messages.
He turned the screen toward the crowd and said, "Come now, let me read you one of the text messages."
Clearing his throat, he read aloud: "'Here is the recent situation of the Lin Group: The total turnover of the department I am responsible for last month increased by seven percent. The areas of increase are…'"
As Lin Yuan read, several eyes around the room widened even further in astonishment. That message matched word-for-word what Wang Qu had reported when Lin Yuan asked him about his department's performance just a few days ago.
It was undeniable.
This wasn't a souvenir. This wasn't a coincidence. This wasn't just a broken phone.
This was evidence—irrefutable, undeniable evidence.
And now, the room that once questioned Lin Yuan's claims began to realize the frightening truth:
He knew everything.
And Wang Qu—or rather, Chen Qu—had just been exposed.
And what was even more shocking was the fact that what Lin Yuan had just read aloud moments ago was far more detailed than what Wang Qu had previously reported.
Everyone's eyes widened in disbelief, their expressions frozen as they slowly turned toward Wang Qu.
So it turns out… the reason why Wang Qu had been able to recite the financial report from memory—just like his secretaries—was not because he was a dedicated or meticulous professional, but because he had already written it before. And not for the Lin family. No, he had written it to report the Lin Group's performance directly to the Chen family.
There was a stunned silence in the room, as if time itself had momentarily paused.
Next, Lin Yuan handed the black Nokia phone to Lin Jianjun and Meng Yuelan, the two pillars of the Lin family. The room was so quiet, you could hear a pin drop as the two of them read through the content on the tiny screen. As they scrolled through the messages, their expressions grew darker and uglier by the second. Their hands trembled, and the corners of their lips tightened with each new message they read.
The text message Lin Yuan had read aloud earlier was there—verbatim. Every word matched.
And it wasn't just one message. There were multiple messages, all indicating that Wang Qu—no, Chen Qu—had been regularly reporting confidential business information from the Lin Group to the Chen family for quite some time. He had been acting as a spy right under their noses.
Perhaps he believed that the phone's old-school encryption was safe. Perhaps he thought that hiding it in a drawer, in a phone no one used anymore, was clever. Maybe he even convinced himself that no one would suspect him.
But he was wrong.
Because Lin Yuan had found it.
The phone even confirmed Lin Yuan's earlier statement—the contact name displayed clearly: Chen Qu. That was Wang Qu's true identity.
And as they dug deeper, the recent messages revealed something even more alarming. The conversations detailed the confidential plans for the Lin family's new clothing brand—the very one they had worked tirelessly to develop. Every design, every release strategy, every promotional plan—it had all been leaked.
That's why the rival company always seemed one step ahead.
That was how the so-called copycat brand managed to mimic the Lin family's designs so accurately, down to the tiniest details without getting into copyright.
It was no coincidence.
The Chen family had orchestrated the entire scheme. They had deliberately set up the rival company with one goal—to sabotage the Lin family's brand before it could take off. And Chen Qu had served as their eyes and ears inside the Lin Group, feeding them every move.
It was a perfect plan.
Or at least, it would have been—if not for Lin Yuan.
Even Lin Jianjun and Meng Yuelan had once believed the copycats were just extremely talented, perhaps with a touch of luck. They had never imagined that a traitor sat among their highest-ranking officials, betraying them from within.
But now, everything made sense.
Lin Yuan had torn apart the mask.
The traitor wasn't someone on the outside—it was Wang Qu, the very man they trusted with a managerial role.
No… not Wang Qu. Chen Qu.
Seeing the ugly expressions on Lin Jianjun and Meng Yuelan's faces, the other key executives finally accepted the truth.
Lin Yuan had been right all along.
His earlier suspicions, his calm demeanor, his strange confidence—it all made sense now.
But what baffled everyone even more was: how had Lin Yuan discovered all of this?
Compared to Chen Qu, who had hidden his tracks perfectly and left no apparent trace, Lin Yuan seemed almost otherworldly. How had he seen through the lies? What clues had he followed? None of them had noticed anything unusual.
The betrayal hadn't even occurred frequently—it was likely Chen Qu's first major offense. And yet, Lin Yuan still uncovered it.
It was terrifying.
To tell the truth, many of the officials in the room had never taken Lin Yuan seriously. While they didn't disrespect him outright, they had watched him grow up. They had worked for the Lin family long before he was even born. To them, he was still just a child.
But now… that child stood before them with frightening authority.
If even someone as cunning and cautious as Wang Qu had been caught so easily, what about the rest of them? Could Lin Yuan see through them too?
Many of them harbored secrets—nothing as treasonous as Chen Qu's betrayal, but enough to be concerned.
A chill spread across the room.
Yet Lin Yuan wasn't interested in their petty mistakes. He had no time to waste on them right now.
He raised his hand casually, and two bodyguards instantly stepped forward. Before Chen Qu could react, they pinned him down with firm, practiced movements.
Even then, Chen Qu did not struggle. He didn't plead for mercy. He didn't offer excuses. He simply stared at Lin Yuan in silence, his eyes calm but hollow.
He was still trying to understand.
How had Lin Yuan found out?
Where had he slipped up?
He had been so careful—meticulous even. He couldn't recall a single moment when he had left a clue behind. And yet… here he was, exposed and caught red-handed.
His plans were ruined.
All his secrets laid bare.
After a moment of silence, his lips moved slightly.
"I lost," he murmured, the resignation in his voice unmistakable.
The light in his eyes dimmed completely.
The room was silent once again.
Then a guard turned to Lin Yuan. "Young Master, what should we do with him?"
Lin Yuan didn't even blink. He waved his hand dismissively and said in a calm, casual tone, "Tie him to a heavy stone and throw him into the Qinglong River."
Gasps echoed across the room.
Sink him in the river?!
The calmness of Lin Yuan's voice made the sentence even more chilling.
He wasn't asking.
He was declaring judgment.
And in that moment, everyone understood—Lin Yuan wasn't just some pampered young master.
He was someone you did not cross.
