Chapter 16 - Encounter Him
Unexpectedly, Lee Qianqian embraced Ye Hao tightly, leaving him somewhat bewildered.
Yet, Ye Hao sensed a need to take action.
Just as Ye Hao was about to reciprocate the hug, Liang Mo's voice broke the moment.
“We should leave this place quickly.”
It was only then that Lee Qianqian realized her impulsive actions.
Blushing furiously upon regaining her composure, she wondered why she had thrown herself into his arms.
However, the current circumstances demanded her immediate attention.
Without delay, Lee Qianqian grasped Ye Hao's hand and said, “Let's make our exit.”
Lee Qianqian's touch felt remarkably tender, almost surreal to Ye Hao. .com
Had he really just held hands with Lee Qianqian?
It wasn't until Lee Qianqian led him to the police car that Ye Hao fully regained his senses.
“Ye Hao, who exactly are you?” Liang Mo inquired, his voice carrying a note of seriousness.
Ye Hao remained silent briefly before responding, “I'm just a student.”
Hearing this, Liang Mo wore a bitter smile and remarked, “Do you believe what you're saying?”
“Yes,” affirmed Ye Hao with a nod.
Liang Mo shifted the conversation, asking, “Ye Hao, have you ever considered joining our criminal police team?”
The passionate gleam in Liang Mo's eyes indicated his keen interest in Ye Hao's abilities.
“I'm still in high school.”
“That's not a hindrance. I can use my connections to secure you a position, complete with an official identity,” Liang Mo offered with a smile.
Ye Hao couldn't help but be taken aback by the proposition.
Ye Hao understood that within the criminal police team, many employees operated without official identities.
That was a fact.
Nevertheless, Ye Hao gently shook his head and replied, “For the time being, I'd rather not.”
“I hope we can collaborate again in the future.” Liang Mo seemed to anticipate Ye Hao's refusal.
These words made Ye Hao slightly anxious. He explained, “No, I still need to prepare for the college entrance exam. Captain Liang, please don't jest with me.”
In truth, Ye Hao had no knowledge of demon hunting.
“Captain Liang, could you refrain from informing my parents about today's events?” Lee Qianqian softly implored at that moment.
Liang Mo questioned, “Why?”
“Regardless, Bai Si and the others will be serving life sentences. If my parents find out, they will only be scared,” she reasoned.
“Very well,” Liang Mo decided after some contemplation.
Perhaps the events of today were just too unbelievable.
Both Lee Qianqian and Liang Mo had momentarily forgotten about Ye Hao's injured hand.
It was only when Ye Hao returned home and noticed the bandage on his hand that he recalled it.
“Why doesn't my wound hurt anymore?” Ye Hao puzzledly unwrapped the bandage.
In its place, he discovered a healed scar, far less frightening than before.
“Could it be that the divine blood has granted me an extraordinary regenerative ability?” The more Ye Hao considered it, the more plausible it seemed. Otherwise, he couldn't explain this inexplicable healing.
Ye Hao reapplied the bandage, slipping his hand into his pocket. Given his rapid recovery, his wound would likely be completely healed by tomorrow.
After entering his home, Ye Hao concocted a random excuse and retreated to his bedroom to examine the information he had purchased.
Guo Xiu displayed no astonishment.
Her son's diligence filled her heart with admiration.
Two months later, there was a real chance that her son could secure admission to a prestigious university.
Guo Xiu contemplated this prospect, eagerly anticipating the reactions of her relatives when the time arrived.
Ye Hao's supposition had been accurate.
When he awoke the following morning, only a faint scar remained on his hand.
His recovery capabilities were truly remarkable.
The college entrance exam loomed just under two months away, and all the students in the class were immersed in diligent study.
Given that their futures hinged on the college entrance exam, no one indulged in jests at this critical juncture.
Even Zhou Shuai, known for his carefree nature, paid rapt attention to the teacher's explanations on various subjects.
Ye Hao continued to adhere to his study plan, diligently perusing the learning materials.
Due to Ye Hao's remarkable aptitude for learning, listening to the teacher's lectures proved a redundant exercise.
At five-thirty in the afternoon, Ye Hao hurried to KFC, and to his surprise, Lee Qianqian was already waiting for him there.
“Why did you arrive so early?”
“Is your hand okay?” Lee Qianqian approached quickly, her concern evident in her voice.
“Yes,” Ye Hao reassured her, waving his bandaged left hand in her direction.
In truth, Ye Hao's hand had already healed, but the notion of it recuperating in a single day seemed unbelievable, prompting him to wrap it in bandages.
Hence, Ye Hao purchased some bandages and applied them to his hand.
“Are you still experiencing any pain?” Lee Qianqian examined Ye Hao's hand carefully.
“Much better,” Ye Hao replied with a smile.
Lee Qianqian's countenance exuded sympathy, as if she were on the verge of tears. She uttered, “It's all my fault; I completely forgot about it yesterday.”
“I'm genuinely fine,” Ye Hao murmured softly, attempting to reassure Lee Qianqian as he observed her expression.
Lee Qianqian meticulously instructed Ye Hao, “Remember to apply medicine to your wounds daily, and avoid contact with water for the next few days.”
Ye Hao listened attentively, not perceiving her guidance as nagging in the slightest.
It was comforting to have someone who genuinely cared for him.
Over time, both Lee Qianqian and Ye Hao began to recognize a shift in their relationship.
Because, during late nights, thoughts of each other inevitably crept into their minds.
Nonetheless, moments of happiness often prove fleeting.
Three days prior to the monthly examination, Ye Hao's routine was disrupted.
Inside a KFC, Lee Qianqian patiently explained past college entrance examination papers to Ye Hao.
In a sudden turn of events, Lee Qianqian glimpsed a figure, causing her face to flush with panic.
“Qianqian,” a middle-aged woman approached Lee Qianqian, her expression cold.
Lee Qianqian, trembling with anxiety, stood up and inquired, “Mom, what brings you here?”
“Shouldn't you be explaining to me why you're here?” Xie Ning retorted angrily. “If I hadn't run into your homeroom teacher today, I wouldn't have known that you've been absent from school for nearly two months.”
“What?” Ye Hao was taken aback.
“Mom, you may not be aware, but the late-night self-study sessions at school were quite noisy, so I decided to study elsewhere,” Lee Qianqian explained.
“You're in the Key Class at No.1 High School; how could your classmates create such a disturbance?” Xie Ning expressed skepticism regarding Lee Qianqian's account.
“Auntie.”
“Ye Hao.” Xie Ning interrupted Ye Hao's attempt to speak, stating firmly, “My entire family appreciates your help in saving my daughter, but I cannot permit any involvement between you and my daughter.”
Xie Ning wasn't oblivious to matters of the heart; she could discern that her daughter had fallen for Ye Hao. Otherwise, why would she have arranged two months of self-study sessions to assist Ye Hao without informing her parents?
No, they were in a romantic relationship.
In Xie Ning's view, Lee Qianqian had come here to date Ye Hao.
