Chapter 28: The Little loli
After dispersing the crowd of onlookers, Xu Mo was led by two security guards to the security office on the third floor.
Having seen numerous reports online about mall security abusing their power, Xu Mo took the opportunity to mentally rehearse the activation method of his ability, "Immovable as a Mountain," as they walked. It might not reduce the damage by much, but it was better than being beaten senseless with no way to fight back.
However, it turned out that Xu Mo was overthinking the situation. The two security guards were clearly well-trained. Though they didn't show him any kindness, they didn't resort to violence either. After calling the police using the office phone, they locked Xu Mo in the room alone.
The office wasn't very large, about twenty-something square meters, with simple furnishings: two desks, a few half-new wooden chairs, and a single folding bed in the corner that seemed to be for night shifts. It was no wonder the guards felt comfortable locking Xu Mo in there; besides the phone, there was nothing of value in the room.
Having faced numerous life-threatening situations before, Xu Mo's mindset had become much calmer in the face of unexpected events. To use a pretentious phrase, he had reached a new level of composure. After all, hundreds of armed soldiers couldn't do much to him—he didn't need to panic in a small security office in this building.
Regardless of whether it was a misunderstanding or not, peeking into a women's bathroom was hardly a major crime. At most, it was considered a public nuisance. Even if he were taken to the police station, as a first-time offender, he'd likely just receive a warning and be released.
The police would undoubtedly notify the school and his parents about the incident. The thought of facing their disappointed gazes, as well as the gossip at school, made Xu Mo feel like his life was about to fall apart.
Moreover, what if Xu Bilin found out about this? What would she think? No loli would continue being friends with a creep like that, right?
No! He couldn't let his life be ruined like this!
Xu Mo shook himself out of his gloomy thoughts and surveyed the room, checking all four corners of the ceiling to make sure there were no surveillance cameras. Once certain, he started planning his escape route.
The door led directly to the mall, and many people had seen his face earlier. If he tried to leave through that way, he'd likely be caught by the crowd again. If the security guards caught him, escaping would be much harder, so he immediately dismissed that route.
The only remaining option was the window on the northern wall of the office.
Fortunately, it seemed the security office was a low-priority area, as the window didn't have a metal security grill. This greatly facilitated Xu Mo's escape plan. Though his ability, "Gentle Touch," could bypass simple anti-theft bars, making himself vanish would definitely attract police attention, which would be worse than simply getting caught.
Xu Mo peeked out of the window. Below, there was a narrow cement road with a parking shed for mall employees. Since it wasn't lunch break, no one was around. If he escaped from here, it seemed unlikely anyone would notice.
The only issue was the height—around ten meters. Even with his enhanced physical capabilities, the thought of jumping down still made him nervous.
But whatever! Escaping was worth the risk—even if he ended up injured, it was better than being humiliated.
Xu Mo steeled himself, preparing to climb onto the windowsill, but suddenly heard footsteps approaching the security office door. Time was running out. He quickly closed the window, dashed to the nearest chair, and casually sat down, adopting a nonchalant posture while eyeing the door.
"Ugh! Uncle, you're hurting me!"
A loli's voice, as crisp as a warbler's but slightly immature, rang out. The security door opened, and a small loli was shoved inside.
"Stay here. When you tell me your parents' real names and contact info, I'll let you go," a middle-aged security guard with a red face coldly snapped, locking the door behind him.
"Hey! Idiot! Pighead! How many times do I have to tell you? The phone number I gave you is real! You haven't even called it, how would you know it's fake?"
The little loli threw herself at the door, angrily hammering it with her tiny fists. After a few blows, she seemed to realize her hands hurt, so she switched to kicking it instead. The loud echoes reverberated through the room, making Xu Mo's ears ring.
Her childish behavior amused Xu Mo, and once the footsteps faded, he couldn't help but offer a kind reminder: "Take a break. They're gone now. No matter how much you tear the place apart, they won't hear you."
"Eh?!"
The little loli, surprised to find someone in the room, instinctively pressed herself against the door. Her expression was like that of a scared little rabbit.
As she turned around, Xu Mo found himself momentarily distracted by her appearance. He hadn't expected her to be this pretty.
She appeared to be in elementary school, probably in the fifth or sixth grade. She wore a stylish black jacket over a deep blue checkered skirt and light gray knee-high boots with a 3–4 cm heel, which added a bit of height to her slender legs, wrapped in black tights.
Though her figure was still flat, her face was strikingly attractive. With two long ponytails that reached her waist and a slightly chubby, delicate face, her features were refined. She had the look of someone who would grow into a beautiful woman, maybe even a devastating beauty in the future.
If Xu Mo had to find a flaw, it would be her slightly narrow, almond-shaped eyes. If those eyes were on an adult woman, they'd be captivating, but on such a young loli, they seemed somewhat too seductive.
Fortunately, Xu Mo wasn't one to go wild over pretty faces, and the little loli didn't react badly to his appearance. After eyeing him warily for a moment, she slowly moved away from the door.
The little loli seemed to want to sit down and rest, but after surveying the room, she scrunched her brow. The chairs had a layer of dust, and she didn't sit.
She was quite the neat freak...
Despite seeming a bit obsessive about cleanliness, Xu Mo smiled lightly and gestured toward the single bed in the corner. "You can sit there. I checked the bed, and the sheets seem freshly changed. It's clean."
The little loli was surprised that Xu Mo spoke to her. She looked at him for a moment, then rolled her eyes. "Pighead! Didn't you know? Good lolis shouldn't sit on any bed except their own!"
Huh? Was that a thing? Xu Mo awkwardly scratched his nose, though he realized she might have a point.
Seeing the little loli standing, Xu Mo wiped the chair he was sitting on and offered it to her. She seemed tired, and after thanking him, she sat down without hesitation. Her gaze softened a bit as she looked at him.
"You're not bad..." The little loli lifted one leg and gently rubbed it, her eyes narrowing slightly as if she were enjoying herself. "I'm Tang Guo. What's your name, Uncle?"
Uh... Uncle? Had he really become that old?
"I'm Xu Mo. You don't have to call me 'brother,' but please don't call me 'uncle.'"
"Okay, Uncle."
"Uh... whatever."
Faced with this unmanageable little loli, Xu Mo couldn't help but feel a deep sense of helplessness.
