Urban Pokémon

Chapter 23: Urban Pokémon [23]

Uncle Ye hadn't expected the so-called intruder to be a Trainer commanding a Quasi-Elite Four tier Pokémon.

Because, let's be honest—

His strongest Pokémon, Ursaring, had just reached that level.

If the other side had another Pokémon of that caliber… things could get dicey fast.

"Uncle Ye, wait—don't attack!"

Just as he was about to order Ursaring to strike, Su Qingxue suddenly stepped in.

"I think… that's my teacher!"

Uncle Ye froze.

"Your teacher?"

"Guo Yi?"

"You must be mistaken, Miss."

After all, they were all perfectly aware of Guo Yi's strength—or lack thereof.

There was no way a Trainer like him could possibly command a Nidoking that strong.

However—

The voice from the forest left no room for doubt.

"Hold your fire!"

"It's friendly!"

They saw Guo Yi call off the justifiably enraged Nidoking and stroll into view with his Beedrill at his side.

"Everyone, stand down. Those two are my Pokémon."

Guo Yi gestured toward the Nidoking and Nidoqueen behind him.

For a moment—

All eyes bounced between his Beedrill, whose power level was merely excellent-tier, and the Nidoking, who radiated Quasi-Elite Four pressure, alongside a Gym-level Nidoqueen.

Everyone was utterly speechless.

...

In the clearing outside the villa, Nidoking's family happily munched on Pokéblocks.

Nearby, the bodyguards—and even Uncle Ye—watched in stunned disbelief.

All the while, Guo Yi chatted casually with Su Qingxue.

"Teacher, how did you even capture Nidoking and his whole family?"

Su Qingxue couldn't contain her curiosity.

She just couldn't understand how someone with only an Excellent-tier Beedrill could possibly subdue such a powerful Nidoking family.

From her perspective—

It wasn't about capturing them; just making it back alive would've been impressive enough.

"Hmm…"

"How did I catch them, you ask?"

Guo Yi rubbed his chin thoughtfully, casting a glance at the happily-eating Nidoking and family, then nodded confidently.

"Maybe…"

Everyone, Uncle Ye included, leaned in, holding their breath, eager to hear the secret.

"Maybe… it's because I'm just too good-looking!"

Everyone stumbled over themselves in disbelief.

"You don't believe me?"

Seeing the skepticism on everyone's faces, Guo Yi called out to Nidoking, "Hey! Wasn't it because you thought I was handsome that you followed me?"

But—

Nidoking was far too engrossed in his food to hear a word.

Thankfully, Nidoqueen still had her wits about her.

With a swift whack to the head—another one of her signature "candied chestnut" bonks—she snapped Nidoking back to attention.

He quickly nodded toward Guo Yi.

Yes, yes!

Whatever my Trainer says is right!

"See?" Guo Yi threw up his hands, helpless. "Sigh… this irresistible charm of mine… where can I even put it?"

Uncle Ye and the others stared at Guo Yi's shameless display, wanting to argue—but unable to find a proper counter.

Su Qingxue, meanwhile, was trying to suppress a laugh.

Though she didn't know exactly how her teacher had managed to tame the Nidoking family, she had a hunch it had something to do with food.

After all, perfect-grade Pokéblocks—most Pokémon wouldn't be able to resist that kind of temptation.

That said—

Since her teacher clearly didn't want to explain it, Su Qingxue chose to play dumb.

Even if no one knew the specifics, it didn't matter.

What did matter was that Guo Yi now stood as the recognized Trainer of an incredibly powerful Nidoking.

Uncle Ye finally let out a long sigh of relief.

With Nidoking and Nidoqueen on our side, even if the Flying Eagle Gang finds this place… there's no need to panic anymore.

Internally, he couldn't help but marvel—Miss truly chose the right teacher!

"Qingxue, how's your Nidoran♀ doing with [Hone Claws] training?"

Though Guo Yi already knew from the system that she had successfully learned the move—

As a teacher, he still had a duty to ask.

"All thanks to your Pokéblocks, Teacher—Nidoran's training went really smoothly!"

"She can now use [Hone Claws] on command!"

Su Qingxue beamed with excitement.

Because usually—

Even for a move matching a Pokémon's type, it often took two or three days of practice just to grasp the basics.

And for off-type moves?

That took even longer.

But her Nidoran♀ had learned an off-type move—in less than a day.

And not just any move—[Hone Claws], a practical, high-utility technique. She never would've dreamed of such a thing before.

But now that dream had come true.

Seeing her glowing with joy, Guo Yi kept a casual expression, but inwardly, he sighed in admiration.

As expected from the Master of Earth Giovanni… the efficiency is on another level!

Up until now, it had seemed like the system's rewards mostly benefited him as the teacher.

But that wasn't the full picture.

The Pokémon training guides tied to each system-awarded template—

Those were actually the most valuable assets for the students.

After all—

Training a Pokémon was a long-term endeavor.

Just because someone played the games, or watched the anime or read the manga—

Didn't mean they actually knew how to raise one.

If it were that easy, there wouldn't be professions like breeders or Pokémon tutors.

Take Nidoran's [Hone Claws] training, for instance.

Without Giovanni template's methodical guide—one that detailed every single step—

She couldn't possibly have mastered the move so quickly.

Which is why—

Students with high potential had one major advantage: they received the perfect training plan for the Pokémon that suited them best.

"Qingxue, tomorrow I want you to train Nidoran♀ alongside Nidoran♂."

"Drills alone aren't enough—you need live combat!"

Guo Yi pointed at Nidoran♂, who was now joyfully running around after stuffing himself with Pokéblocks.

He'd already bonded Nidoran♂ to the [Nidoking Template].

So for the sake of his student and the Pokémon's future, he needed to take this seriously.

"Understood, Teacher!"

These days, Su Qingxue followed his instructions to the letter—without a shred of hesitation.

"Good."

Guo Yi clapped the dust off his sleeves and stood up.

"Well then, Qingxue, I'll be heading back."

Seeing him leave, Su Qingxue immediately stood up.

"Teacher, that straw hut of yours is way too shabby."

"There are still a few vacant rooms in the villa—why not stay here from now on?"

Uncle Ye stepped in as well, echoing her sentiment.

"That's right! Guo Yi—no, Professor Guo—Miss Su is absolutely right."

"You're her teacher—how could we let you stay in a place like that?"

"If word of this got out, people would think Miss Su was being disrespectful!"
