Chapter 27: Taking You Home

The girl couldn't stand up but struggled and retreated several steps while removing the black cloth from her face. Seeing the coat draped over her, she couldn't help but be startled. However, noticing no signs of her underwear being disturbed and feeling no discomfort in her body, she confirmed that she hadn't been violated and felt somewhat relieved.

"I don't need your crocodile tears, I...ouch..." She suddenly felt a pain in her head, which made her unable to continue speaking.

Ye Qing did not even look at her and said, "Put your hand on the back of your neck, two fingers up from the spine, and gently press a few times. It can alleviate the pain."

"You think just because you say to press it, I will do it? You think I... I am afraid of the pain..." The girl clenched her teeth and complained, but the pain intensified.

Ye Qing said nothing more, merely turning his back to the girl.

The girl was almost in tears from the pain, realizing Ye Qing wasn't looking at her, she finally couldn't resist and gently pressed the spot he had described.

Indeed, after pressing a few times, the pain eased significantly.

The girl was greatly surprised and looked at Ye Qing with less suspicion. At least, he hadn't lied about this.

"Ouch!" Suddenly, the girl cried out again, then hastened to say, "You tricked me, it's... it's even more painful now..."

Ye Qing said, "Press gently, do not use force. Of course it will hurt more if you press too hard!"

Her face flushed; she had indeed pressed too hard in an attempt to relieve the pain quickly. To her surprise, this made the pain even worse.

Though Ye Qing continued to face away from her, the girl was startled; without even looking at her, how did he know she was pressing too hard? This man was almost too incredible!

The girl gently massaged the spot, not daring to press hard, and finally, the pain significantly subsided. Throughout this process, she kept looking around, searching for an escape route.

The factory had long been abandoned, and there were holes everywhere. It wasn't hard to get out.

Seeing that Ye Qing was still facing away, the girl tiptoed towards one of the openings.

Just as she was about to reach the opening, Ye Qing suddenly spoke up, "You'd better not go out."

The girl's expression changed, and she suddenly sprinted out.

It was pitch black outside, but the girl didn't care about being scared anymore. She ran quickly, not daring to look back. Not until she was far from the abandoned factory area did she dare to look back, only to find that Ye Qing had not followed her.

The girl let out a long sigh of relief but was even more puzzled: why hadn't he chased after her when she ran away?

However, having finally escaped, the girl couldn't worry about that now and hurriedly ran towards the highway.

Wild grass and shrubs surrounded the abandoned factory, and without knowing the direction, she just ran. After about two miles, still hearing nothing from behind, the girl was thrilled, thinking she had finally escaped the clutches of her captor. However, as she continued forward, a large hand suddenly covered her mouth and pulled her to the side.

The girl was shocked, but her mouth was covered, and she couldn't make a sound. Turning her head, she saw that Ye Qing had somehow appeared behind her!

The girl's expression changed drastically, all hope of escape vanishing. Was she going to be violated by these people after all?

Ye Qing bent down to her shoulder, and the girl vigorously turned her head aside, trying disgustingly to avoid Ye Qing.

However, Ye Qing didn't do anything inappropriate, only whispering, "Don't talk. Look over there."

The girl followed the direction Ye Qing was pointing and carefully looked for a while until she saw two people hidden in the bushes ahead.

The girl's expression changed again; she looked at Ye Qing in astonishment, unsure what he meant. Could it be that he was warning her?

Without another word, Ye Qing took her hand and quietly walked back. The girl resigned herself to the situation, no longer resisting, and followed Ye Qing back to the factory, finally bursting out, "What on earth do you want?"

Ye Qing ignored her and walked to one side where he sat down and said softly, "You can't leave this place tonight; I will take you home tomorrow morning."

"What?" The girl was stunned, looking at Ye Qing in disbelief, "You... you're taking me home? Why would you take me home? If that's the case, why... why didn't you just let me go earlier?"

Ye Qing said, "Since I saved you, I don't want you to be captured again. There are definitely still many people hidden around this factory area. It's not safe to go out tonight."

"You saved me?" The girl was dumbfounded, looking around and asking, "How... how did you save me?" The M|V|LE&MPYR team worked hard on this chapter.

Ye Qing didn't respond, for what a baffling question it was!

After a long pause, the girl finally asked the most crucial question, "Aren't you with those bandits?"

"What do you think?" Ye Qing countered.

The girl looked at Ye Qing for a long while and said, "Is it really you who saved me?"

Ye Qing remained unresponsive.

Looking at Ye Qing's back and then at her own clothes, the girl suddenly understood why Ye Qing had always faced away from her.

Her clothes were mostly torn off, and although she was wearing Ye Qing's coat, she was still barely covered. Ye Qing had faced away from her, most likely to avoid this awkward direct view.

Realizing this, the girl could not but trust Ye Qing almost entirely. Looking at him, she suddenly felt an inexplicable sense of security.

If Ye Qing had kept staring at her, she would probably never have felt this security.

The girl whispered, "I'm sorry, I... I thought you were with them. Thank... thank you..."

"Ye Qing said, "You should get some sleep. They won't find this place tonight."

"Even if they don't come tonight, how are we going to leave tomorrow... What about tomorrow?" the girl asked. "It's dark now, and while they're not paying attention, it wouldn't be hard for us to leave."

Ye Qing shook his head. "When it gets light, there will be no one around."

"Why?" the girl asked, even more surprised.

Ye Qing looked up at the bright moon in the sky. "The leader does not trust the people watching over you. I think, within a couple of hours, someone will come in to check. By then, when they discover you're gone, they'll start searching for you!"

"Then won't we be in danger here?" the girl exclaimed.

"The most dangerous places are often the safest. They won't look for us here," Ye Qing thought, recalling Flathead's words. Although he understood this concept, he never imagined that after rescuing someone, he would still be hiding in this factory area.

The girl was skeptical, but listening to Ye Qing's confident tone, she no longer panicked.

Actually, it wouldn't be difficult for Ye Qing to take down those people outside with his skills. However, Ye Qing suspected they had guns, and since they were well-hidden, he preferred not to take the risk. If it were just him, he wouldn't be afraid of anything, but if the girl got hurt in a melee, that wouldn't be good.

The girl was indeed tired. After standing for a while, she couldn't stand any longer and walked over to sit by Ye Qing's bedroll.

Ye Qing's cookstove was not far from there, and the aroma that wafted over made the girl's stomach rumble.

Looking towards the stove, the girl felt the urge to drool for the first time in her life. She was truly hungry, and the smell was incredibly tempting. The girl really wanted to eat, but she dared not speak up.

Suddenly, Ye Qing stood up, walked over to the stove, and brought out a bowl of rice for the girl.

"It's not very hot, but it's still warm. Make do with it," he said.

The girl took the bowl and, looking at Ye Qing's sharply defined face, felt a deep warmth in her heart. Initially, she intended to eat slowly, but she couldn't resist and, forgetting her image, started eating voraciously. Soon, the bowl was empty, and she was still not satisfied.

After eating, the girl felt much warmer. Sitting by the bedroll, her eyelids began to droop, and eventually, she couldn't resist any longer, lay down on the bedroll with her clothes still on, and fell into a deep sleep.

She didn't know how long it had been when she groggily opened her eyes and saw that it was already bright outside.

There was no one around, and the girl was surprised. Why had Ye Qing disappeared?

She stood up, still draped in Ye Qing's jacket, confirming that last night wasn't a dream.

As the girl walked out of the factory, Ye Qing just happened to be walking in. Seeing her awake, he nodded and said, "We can go now."

The girl, thrilled, asked hastily, "Are the people gone?"

Ye Qing nodded, and the girl hurried over to him.

Ye Qing led the girl, and it took them more than an hour to reach a nearby small town.

Ye Qing asked, "Can you find your way home?"

"Aren't you going to bring me home?" the girl asked, puzzled.

"I have other things to do and no time to bring you," Ye Qing replied as he pulled out fifty yuan and handed it to the girl. "Take this money for a taxi. When you're inside, try to bend down as much as possible so no one can see you."

The girl took the money and looked at Ye Qing, filled with immense surprise. What was this man really about? He saved her—didn't he want anything in return? Moreover, he had never even asked for her name!

Ye Qing had already turned and walked away. For him, finding his brother Ye Jun was the most important thing. Saving this girl was just a minor effort; he hadn't thought much about it.

"Hey, what's your name?" the girl suddenly called out from behind.

Ye Qing gestured with his hand but did not speak.

Watching Ye Qing's retreating figure, the girl suddenly felt an indescribable sense of loss— a lack of the security he had provided. She realized that this man, whom she had known for less than twelve hours, had given her an unprecedented sense of safety.

The girl didn't chase after Ye Qing. Eager to get home, she hailed a cab and headed for the city center.

Half an hour later, the taxi arrived outside a luxurious villa in the city.

The girl got out of the cab and confidently pressed the villa's doorbell. Soon, an elderly man opened the large gates. Seeing the girl, he was momentarily stunned, then overjoyed, "Miss, miss, you're back!"

The old man's voice attracted several people. Four or five individuals ran out of the villa, all delighted to see the girl.

"Yu'er, you're finally back!" a red-eyed beautiful woman rushed over and hugged the girl, crying bitterly, "Mom has been so worried!"

The girl also felt sorrowful and hugged the beautiful woman, crying as well.

Soon, a haggard-looking middle-aged man came out from the yard. Seeing the girl, he seemed to regain his energy and quickly approached, pulling the girl close to inspect her. Seeing that the girl was somewhat disheveled but unharmed, he felt somewhat relieved.

"It's good that you're back! It's good!" the middle-aged man hugged the girl and softly said, "Let's go, let's go home."

"Here, bring some new clothes for the miss," the beautiful woman took off the jacket the girl was wearing and handed it to someone nearby, saying, "Throw it away."

"Don't throw it!" the girl hastily came over and snatched the jacket, holding it close like a treasure, unwilling to let go.

Everyone looked at the girl with some surprise, puzzled by her actions. Yet on the girl's face, there was an indescribable look of hope.
