Chapter 202 Attitude Shift
Du Hongfeng didn't bring up the matter of the photos. He also feared his daughter wouldn't be able to accept it, so he was trying to convince his daughter in other ways now.
"He wouldn't hit someone for no reason," Du Wanrou defended Qin Hao. "Dad, who told you that?"
"I heard it from a friend in Jiangshan. He just mentioned it in passing, and I happened to hear it. Wan Rou, it's easy to know someone's face, but not their heart," Du Hongfeng advised earnestly.
Du Wanrou was exceptionally adamant, "Dad, I believe in him."
"You believe in him? Do you know what he's been doing these past few days? He's been entertaining a beautiful woman."
After saying that, Du Hongfeng took out his cellphone to show her a few photos.
Du Wanrou's expression tightened when she saw them; she recognized the woman, the daughter of the chairman of Jinxiu Group.
How could they be together?
What have they been doing together?
Du Wanrou didn't want to think about it, nor did she dare to, but some images kept popping into her mind on their own.
She turned pale and stood up, saying, "Dad, I'm tired. I want to rest for a bit."
After speaking, she went back to her own room and locked the door behind her.
Concern showed on Feng Yun's face as she looked at Du Hongfeng.
Du Hongfeng sat on the sofa, frowning, and lit a cigarette.
Feng Yun thought for a moment and then took out her cellphone to call her sister, Feng Xiangyi.
The call was quickly connected.
Feng Xiangyi asked curiously, "Sis, what's up?"
Feng Yun said, "You know about Xiao Rou's situation; how could you not say a word to me?"
Feng Xiangyi replied, "Sis, are you talking about Qin Hao and Xiao Rou?"
Impatiently, Feng Yun said, "Of course, what else could it be?"
"Xiao Rou asked me not to say anything, so I didn't. Sis, the boyfriend Xiao Rou found is really not bad. You should meet him someday; I'm sure you'll approve of him," Feng Xiangyi added a word of praise for Qin Hao.
...
"What kind of future can a guy who sells roasted duck have? Sis, I know you're working for him; stop making him sound so good," Feng Yun said disapprovingly.
Feng Xiangyi clarified, "Sis, I know who is closer to whom. Qin Hao is really a good guy; he treats Xiao Rou with care. He even bought Xiao Rou a Ferrari a while ago; over ten million. He bought one for himself, too, also over ten million."
"What? You're saying he spent over ten million to buy Xiao Rou a car?" Feng Yun was somewhat incredulous.
"Yes, I was there with them. I was worried Xiao Rou might be tricked by him. Besides, the car's owner's name is written as Xiao Rou's. Sis, who would spend so much money just to trick a woman? I can tell he really likes Xiao Rou. Moreover, his Jiangshan Roasted Duck Company has great potential; last month's sales exceeded ten million, and in the future, they could easily surpass your Ouna Company."
Feng Yun was stunned, and Du Hongfeng, sitting nearby, was also taken aback by these words.
He bought Xiao Rou a car worth over ten million?
As a company chairman, Du Hongfeng himself drove a car worth only a few million, and now his daughter was driving a luxury car worth tens of millions?
"Sis, brother-in-law, I'm speaking from the bottom of my heart. Qin Hao is really a great guy, and his achievements will be limitless in the future. Such an outstanding man—if it wasn't for Xiao Rou dating him, I would be chasing after him! Please, don't be influenced by others and ruin Xiao Rou's happiness for life."
...
After hanging up the call, Du Hongfeng thought for a while and took out his phone to call a rather reliable old friend in Jiangshan.
The call was quickly answered.
"Old Du, what brings you to call me?" came Deng Zhenyuan's voice from the other end.
Du Hongfeng spoke up, asking, "Deng, I want to ask you something."
"What is it?" Deng Zhenyuan was a bit curious.
Du Hongfeng said, "I heard from someone the other day that Ma Bing's son got his leg broken. What happened there?"
Deng Zhenyuan replied, "You know what that damn son of Ma Bing is like. He even tried to take advantage of my daughter once, serves him right to have his legs broken."
"There's such a story? Who broke his legs? What happened?" Du Hongfeng was very curious.
Deng Zhenyuan said with a sigh, "Someone has emerged from Jiangshan."
"Someone? Who?" Du Hongfeng was somewhat surprised.
He had a clear understanding of Deng Zhenyuan's capabilities; such praise from him meant this individual must be extraordinary.
Deng Zhenyuan continued, "Qin Hao, the owner of Jiangshan Roasted Duck Company. It was he who broke Ma Bing's son's legs. Ma Bing's son rear-ended Qin Hao's father's car and, being accustomed to arrogance, even went so far as to assault Qin Hao's father.
Later, when Qin Hao received the news and arrived, seeing his father covered in blood, he was enraged. He had someone break both of Ma Bing's son's legs, and not just his, but two other fools who got involved too."
Hearing this, Du Hongfeng realized he had misunderstood Qin Hao.
After all, in such a situation, probably anyone would have found it hard to hold back!
Deng Zhenyuan went on to say, "There's something else you might not know, Du. This Qin Hao is no ordinary man. He's well-connected, so much so that even Ma Bing's backers can't do anything about it."
"Well-connected? Could his connections be stronger than yours, Deng?" Du Hongfeng asked tentatively.
Deng Zhenyuan chuckled, "Du, we've been old classmates for years, I won't hide it from you—none of the business tycoons in Shuinan Province have connections as powerful as his."
Du Hongfeng gasped in amazement. Had someone else said this to him, he would have dismissed it as bragging.
But he knew Deng Zhenyuan; Deng was not that kind of person.
Qin Hao had connections that reached the heavens?
He was just now realizing how little he actually knew about Qin Hao.
His understanding of him remained stuck in the distant past.
Deng Zhenyuan kept talking, "I sat with him at a banquet a few days ago. The man is wise and composed, cool-headed in the face of trouble, and what's more important—he has the heart of a noble child, a concern for the whole world. My daughter also thinks highly of him, and I heard he doesn't have a girlfriend. In a few days, I plan to take some time to have a meal with him, perhaps play matchmaker."
Cough cough
"Thanks, Deng, I've got to go now," said Du Hongfeng.

Deng Zhenyuan replied, "Sure, when we're both free, I'll introduce you to him."
Introduce him to me? Do I need you to introduce my future son-in-law?
At that moment, Du Hongfeng felt a clear sense of joy, saying with a smile, "Alright then, I'll hang up first, Deng."
...
After hanging up the phone, the gloomy look on Du Hongfeng's face had vanished; he wore a grin.
He turned to Feng Yun and instructed, "Go and call Xiao Rou out."
Feng Yun responded, "You made your daughter angry; you go get her."
Helplessly, Du Hongfeng got up and went to the door of Du Wanrou's room. He knocked and said, "Xiao Rou, open the door. Dad has something to tell you."
There was no response from inside!
Du Hongfeng continued, "After giving it some thought, Dad feels that those photos from before weren't quite right. This might very well be someone's ploy, trying to use me to drive a wedge between you two. Open the door, I won't stop you from dating Qin Hao, but there are some things I need to tell you."
The bedroom door opened from the inside; Du Wanrou's eyes were slightly red as she looked at him, "Dad, you weren't just pacifying me earlier, were you?"
Seeing his daughter's red eyes, he felt a pang of distress, "How could Dad possibly lie to you? However, there are some things Dad needs to tell you."
