Urban Ace Bodyguard

Chapter 14 Viper and Dragon Tooth

In the CEO's office.

Wang Dajun stood behind the desk with his hands clasped behind his back, his gaze stern and indifferent, his entire demeanor like a standard weapon, exuding steadiness and capability.

Early this morning, President Ouyang called him to the office, mentioning a newly recruited security guard personally hired by the president.

Wang Dajun was eager to see what kind of person could be personally recruited by President Ouyang.

He trusted President Ouyang's judgment; anyone personally chosen by the president was certainly no ordinary individual.

He looked forward to the new security guard being an elite like himself, at least making the life of a security guard here less dull.

Lin Hai, still habitually not knocking, pushed the door open and entered, instantly feeling a sharp gaze piercing towards him, almost tangible.

Lin Hai keenly sensed a certain aura from the other, a long-missed familiarity. The man before him with a crew cut, dark skin, and a robust figure was one of his kind, a soldier, a true elite who had undoubtedly seen battle and bloodshed.

Such individuals usually remained in the military as professional soldiers or at least as elite special forces instructors.

Lin Hai was curious. With his capabilities, this fellow could definitely secure a job as a bodyguard with an annual salary in the millions. Why then would he choose to be a security guard in a corporate setting?

Seeing Lin Hai, Wang Dajun was momentarily startled, his sharp pupils contracting. The moment Lin Hai pushed the door to enter, he had an illusion as if a fierce beast had stepped in.

But even he didn't react to this illusion immediately, as all he saw was a disheveled, decadent man.

Wang Dajun was very disappointed, extremely disappointed. From the first glance at Lin Hai, he felt a deep sense of disappointment.

The man before him exuded none of the vibes of his own kind, only sloth, laxity, and decadence.

Wang Dajun was well aware that even the most formidable special forces soldier, once relaxed after retirement, would lose most of their skills within a few years. He was confident that right now, he could easily defeat this newcomer with just one move.

The greater the expectation, the greater the disappointment. In Wang Dajun's mind, a soldier should embody military spirit in his very bones. Those who had degenerated did not deserve to be called soldiers, and he utterly scorned associating with such individuals.

This is the new security guard personally recruited by President Ouyang?

Captain Wang even began to feel a hint of disgust toward Lin Hai. Such a man, squandering the experiences of a soldier, must be someone who loafed about in the logistics department, waiting for time to pass.

"Captain Wang." Ouyang Xiaoya looked at him approvingly, then compared him with Lin Hai, her gaze flashing with disappointment. Both were soldiers, yet the difference between them was like heaven and earth. Wang Dajun fit the image of a soldier she had in mind, whereas Lin Hai... was unsightly.

Upon hearing the president's voice, Wang Dajun immediately bowed respectfully, saying, "President, is this the new brother?"

Ouyang Xiaoya nodded slightly, her tone cold: "The discipline in the security department has been lax recently. I do not want there to be a next time."

Wang Dajun's expression changed instantly. His admiration for Ouyang Xiaoya wasn't new; otherwise, he would've rejected offers from others offering millions for him to become a bodyguard.

Now in the company, he was the head of the security department, fervently seeking Ouyang Xiaoya's attention and taking his duties seriously.

Additionally, due to his intrinsic military habits, he was very strict about security standards.

Now hearing his revered president mentioning that the security team was lax in discipline was utterly unacceptable.

"Reporting to the president, please rest assured, I will immediately investigate the offenders upon my return, and conduct a thorough rectification and discipline operation across all staff in the security department."

Ouyang Xiaoya nodded slightly without any intonation, saying, "I'm relieved with you around."

Hearing the president's praise, Wang Dajun was elated, feeling rewarded for his dedicated performance. Publication courtesy of M|V|LE-MPYR.

"I will definitely transform our company's security into an elite team, providing sufficient protection for the company's safety, and I will not let the president down," Captain Wang stated earnestly.

President Ouyang nodded in satisfaction, glancing at Lin Hai as if to tell him, "Look, this is what a real soldier looks like, far better than you."

"Good, this is Lin Hai, new to the company, and now part of your security department. Make sure you discipline him well," Ouyang Xiaoya said with a cold laugh, delighted within, unable to handle the persistent nuisance herself, but confident that Wang Dajun could.

Initially, she had personally recruited Wang Dajun at a high salary through a recommendation, an elite among elites from his military unit. When he first joined the company, the complacent security guards didn't take him seriously, but after a month of intense training, all of them were begging for mercy, and ended up disciplined and diligent under Wang Dajun.

Thinking of Wang Dajun's training methods applied to Lin Hai, Ouyang Xiaoya eagerly anticipated this detestable man begging to be fired, sure that such a lazy person like Lin Hai would resign voluntarily under the intense training and strict discipline within ten days.

"Lin Hai, stand properly," Wang Dajun, feeling a dislike for Lin Hai and perceiving that President Ouyang also had little regard for him, commanded.

He intensely disliked the lax demeanor of Lin Hai; a soldier should act like a soldier, with strict discipline and decisive actions, not sloppily.

"Now that you have joined the security department, you must hold yourself to a strict standard. The company is a workplace, not a place for individual laxity. I heard you were also once a soldier; therefore, wherever you are, you should maintain strict standards. Look at yourself, do you see any semblance of a soldier? Stand properly!" Captain Wang barked sternly.

Captain Wang deeply understood that every expert possesses their own pride and dignity that should not be trampled upon or provoked.

In his view, if Lin Hai truly were an expert, he would definitely retaliate, and his job was to use this chance to teach him a harsh lesson, showing his own skills, ensuring future obedience in the company, and impressing President Ouyang again.

Usually, those ex-military types, under his gaze and presence, would tremble in fear, and even the most unmanageable ones would be disciplined.

"Hey, Captain Wang, since we are both soldiers, we're comrades, right? Here, have a cigarette," Lin Hai said, offering a cigarette with a smile.

Wang Dajun did not look at the offered cigarette, his gaze intensifying, his demeanor undeniably stern.

"Hehe, I just idled away my time in the military for a few years; any military demeanor was worn away by harsh societal realities. Captain Wang, give me some face, we're all just here to get by. This isn't the military, why so serious?"

Ouyang Xiaoya's eyes widened, observing that Lin Hai still held a bit of pride, but now, she was deeply and thoroughly disappointed; he was too weak.

"Security? What about it? I'll tell you, being a security guard is a sacred duty," Wang Dajun internally despaired at Lin Hai's behavior, his disdain growing; such individuals needed to be taught a lesson, to understand what values a soldier should protect.

"Lin Hai, as a member of the company's security, you bear the responsibility of guarding the company's multi-billion assets, the physical safety of over a thousand colleagues, maintaining the company's order, and shielding it from societal disturbances. I warn you, if you joined the company intending to idle away your time, pack up and leave now, as President Ouyang once said, the company doesn't feed freeloaders."

This speech was impassioned, causing Lin Hai to roll his eyes. If he were a naive youth in his twenties, he might have been moved by these words to immediately vow loyalty and work hard under Wang Dajun.

After finishing, Wang Dajun subconsciously glanced at President Ouyang, seeing the president nod satisfactorily, seemingly very approving of his words, which pleased him.

Lin Hai noticed this scene, immediately realizing that Wang Dajun was trying to win Miss Ouyang's favor, no wonder he was so serious.

Lin Hai chuckled, recalling his own fervent days from the past, when he was naive and uncompromising.

How many years had passed? Wang Dajun's words had caused Lin Hai to momentarily see a reflection of his younger self. Sadly, in a major upheaval, his passion, fervor, loyalty, and spirit had all been severely dented. The merciless passage of time and a rootless struggle would consume a person's will, blood, ideals, and integrity, eventually reducing someone to just getting by, like a walking corpse.

"Hehe," Lin Hai simply smiled, unfazed.

"Lin Hai, what is this attitude? Stand at attention, stand properly!" Wang Dajun, particularly annoyed by Lin Hai's smile and attitude, once again commanded loudly.
