Unwritten Mythos

7th Step to Ascension

"Big Boss, are you pretending to be a newbie to mess with us?"

Shino covered his face. How should he explain this? He's actually a Vampire Duke, and he accidentally got dragged into this game?

"Big Boss, team up?"

Team up?

Shino looked at the screen in front of him. He tried to organize what he had heard from the people before.

"What tier are you guys going to do?"

"Well, definitely tier one. We're all just 1st Step in combat power. Going for tier two is just looking for death."

Shino looked at the third tier. "Can anyone challenge tier three?"

"There have been people who have challenged tier three in other worlds, but they haven't passed."

"Big Boss, you know, with this level of difference, it's like using a rifle against a tank!"

"I see…"

Shino thought for a moment and clicked on the second difficulty level.

"Woah, Big Boss, don't be impulsive! This is a new world. No one knows the rules. It's a bit reckless of you to jump directly to tier two!"

Someone said. They watched as Ye Gong, their "Big Bro," also chose tier two.

Seeing Ye Gong choose tier two, many people quickly clicked tier two.

"What's going on?"

Shino didn't understand. Were these people following the candidate named Ye Gong?

"Ahem, of course Big Bro chose tier two, what can we do?"

"Wherever Big Bro goes, I go. Big Brother eats meat, I eat soup!"

"Ahem, following Big Bro to make a living."

These people… seemed to trust Ye Gong a lot.

Even quite a few who were only at 1st Step in combat power, after seeing Ye Gong chose tier two, quickly followed and chose tier two as well.

Even the people who had just said they wanted to go for tier one also chose tier two.

This showed that the person's position in the minds of these people was truly high.

Then, Shino chatted with the people a bit, learning about the rewards and chest mechanisms here.

"Golden chests are the best. Only the top three finishers will get them. The rest of the top ten will get silver chests. And as long as you reach the minimum passing requirements, you'll get a bronze chest."

"Golden chests have a 75% chance of getting a blue item, a 20% chance of getting a purple item, and a 5% chance of getting a gold item."

"Silver chests, at best, can only give you purple items, with a 10% chance, blue items with a 30% chance, and green items with a 60% chance."

"Bronze chests are the worst. At best, they can only get you blue items with a 15% chance, green items with a 25% chance, and white items with a 60% chance."

"Aside from that, the points you get from different difficulties are also different."

"Tier one has a return of about 50 points."

"Tier two has a return of about 500 to 2000 points."

"Tier three is undetermined."

Aside from that, the people here can also freely trade points and abilities obtained from chests.

Of course, there's also a marketplace here, selling all the loot that players have obtained so far, except for gold-level items.

But the prices in the marketplace are ridiculously expensive. It costs thousands or tens of thousands for even the smallest item. The Administrator seems to be desperate to drain their points.

Shino glanced at the marketplace a few times. The items in the marketplace are also ranked.

2nd Step purple items are more expensive than 1st Step purple items.

But Shino found that most of the items are related to sea creatures.

For example, Fish-Man's Heart, Fish-Man's Scales, etc.

There are also some basic blue-level abilities, such as enhanced hearing, enhanced physique, enhanced reaction, etc. These are all 1st Step.

There are very few 2nd Step items, and there's only one purple item, a purple ability called "Body Breakthrough."

Based on what they said, this ability was unlocked by someone named Enko.

It's the only 2nd Step purple talent in the game so far. It can only be unlocked from tier two chests.

Besides that, there's a golden ticket at the top of the market, with a price tag of 50,000.

Shino looked at this golden ticket. It said that it allowed one to meet the Administrator, the organizer of this Death Game.

At the same time, buying this ticket would revoke your right to participate in the game.

Because meeting the organizer would grant you a mysterious grand prize. That prize would surpass any ability obtainable in the game.

Of course, there's a reason for this rule.

Because if they met the organizer, they would become the new boss. So, they would absolutely not be able to return.

For example, if Ye Gong met the organizer and got a potion, he would become the new "monster."

The game would then update with stages related to him. If he returned, would you make him fight himself?

Meanwhile, Shino didn't know that the game had undergone a change.

The initial cause was that Mei came by once. She thought it was inefficient like this, so she tasked 079 with making some self-adjustments.

Then, the game changed into its current form.

It renamed chapters to "worlds," changed the game schedule from once a month to once every seven days, and changed the original random stages to selectable difficulties.

In doing so, 079 increased the rewards for higher difficulties and decreased the rewards for lower difficulties. This way, those who were strong could quickly accumulate points and meet the Administrator.

Those who were weak could just slowly grind it out at the lower levels.

The saying goes: It's better to have less but good. Not everyone is worthy of the Lord's attention.

Aside from these changes, the only thing that remained unchanged in the game was the combat power system.

This combat power ranking system was divided according to the seven steps of the "Ascension Ladder" theory that Mei had mentioned in the future.

For easier understanding, 079 used the gaming method to name these seven steps, from Normal to Mythical.

But this didn't correspond with 079's ability to create stages. It couldn't create 7th Step, God-level rewards or God-level monsters.

He could only create 3rd Step monsters and rewards at most. This was the limit of his ability. Unless Mei upgraded him again.

But even though he could only create up to 3rd Step, it was still a pretty high level for the current fictional world.

Here are the 3rd Step monsters that exist right now:

001 The Imitator (Can imitate 3rd Step monsters)

003 The Hollow (Excellent-level conceptual attack trait)

005 The Metallomorph (Pseudo-immortal body)

008 Three Corpses (3rd Step boundary)

011 Celestial Beast (Super strong singular entity)

023 Angel (Evolved to 3rd Step)

These six are all at 3rd Step combat power right now.

Monsters like 002 The Deep One, 004 The Queen Bee, and 007 Siren are all at 2nd Step combat power.

They either lack inherent potential or have too mundane basic abilities, not reaching the standard for 3rd Step.

002 The Deep One has too basic abilities. Although it seems to know a little bit about everything, it's not really powerful.

It's barely at the mid-level of 2nd Step.

004 The Queen Bee's guard bees are very powerful, but they have a fatal weakness, and her main body has almost no fighting power.

007 Siren is similar to The Queen Bee. Although she has a very powerful ability, she can only spread it through sound. She's easily countered and is currently the weakest among the 2nd Step monsters.

As for 006, what level is she at right now?

006 Death is currently at 4th Step combat power.

But the Death potion hasn't been perfected yet.

Normally, Death's ability could use its causal trait to make the Earth explode.

But right now, Mei can only use all the existing objects on Earth to kill her opponent.

If there's no object on Earth that can kill an opponent, then that's the limit of her ability.
