Unwritten Desires

Chapter 7: Chapter 7

Eleanor

I hadn't really been avoiding Jake but let's just say I did as much as I could to prevent our paths from crossing.

Okay, technically I was avoiding him, but I didn't make it obvious. He was sweet and all but I knew he liked Theadora.

…and I wasn't Thea.

He was leaning casually against the metal doors, arms crossed and his eyes training on me with something that looked suspiciously like amusement.

"What's wrong?" I raised my brow with a small smile.

"You're famous now," he said as I approached.

I let out a small sigh before shaking my head with an eye roll. "Great."

"I gotta say, I wasn't expecting you to go that hard on Naomi," he continued, falling into step beside me. "Not that I'm complaining."

"Oh?" My lips curled into a smirk forming a smug look on my face.

"I have to admit. It was kinda hot."

I nearly tripped over her own feet. "What?"

He smirked, shoving his hands into his pockets. "Nothing."

I eyed him, unsure of how to respond. This was exactly why I had been ignoring him. I knew he liked me and I was pretty sure most people did…and Naomi happened to be one of those people.

I mean, it was very obvious. The way he looked at me, the way he leaned just a little too close, the way his voice always softened when he spoke to me. It was clear that he had feelings for me.

Or at least, he thought he did.

But the problem was, I wasn't Theadora.

I know I was bragging to Naomi back there in the classroom and telling her he had eyes for me and only noticed me but that was only to get on her nerves.

Sure, Jake was attractive. He had that easy confidence, that slightly messy brown hair and that whole charming but probably a headache kind of energy. In another life, maybe I would've been interested.

But right now? I had much bigger problems.

I just couldn't help but feel bad that the real Theadora, the one who loved Jake and owned this body was nowhere to be found and I didn't even know if she still existed.

But I still had to keep up appearances.

So I gave him a small, knowing smile and tilted my head.

"What?" He grinned.

"Nothing." I said mimicking his voice and we both let out a small laugh.

Jake then nudged me lightly with his shoulder, still smiling. "I mean…I'm just saying, this whole new attitude of yours? Kinda suits you."

I hummed in reply, looking ahead. Even though I tried my best to act the way Theadora did, I was still ruining the way he saw her.

And that was a very bad thing.

I was still thinking of how I was going to reply to him when I heard someone yelling my name from behind me. I then swerved around to find Sofia running towards us.

I secretly let out a small breath, savoring the feeling of relief. Oh thank God. Now I didn't have to say anything to him.

"What's up?" I said grabbing onto the distraction.

"What's up??" Her brows shot up as her chest heaved from the speed she used to run across the hall. "What is this amazing badass story I'm hearing?" Her eyes flickered around as she doubled over to catch her breath.

"Amazing badass?" I let out a small laugh. "Well those are such odd terms to use."

"You see how fast I ran here as soon as I heard it?" Sofia gestured towards the ground as she straightened. "That's how fast you're gonna start talking."

"Chill out guys." I laughed as she fell into step beside me as we made our way to our next class. "It wasn't such a big deal."

"Oh I was there and I witnessed the whole thing so yeah, it was a big deal."

"Jake!" I nudged him in the shoulder drawing a small chuckle out of him.

"See even Jake agrees." Sofia gestured towards him before she turned to me, her eyes glinting with excitement. "Now tell me, I heard you called her ugly." Her voice dropped to a low whisper and I gasped.

"No, I never said she was ugly. I just told her that I didn't need makeup to impress a guy like she did." I lifted my shoulders in a small shrug.

"That's pretty much the same thing." Sofia pointed out, narrowing her eyes.

"No it's not."

"Mmm…" she wrapped her fingers around her chin. "Yeah it definitely is the same thing."

"Sofia!"

"But you're right though." Jake said out of the blue causing us both to turn to him.

"Huh?" We echoed.

"About the impressing thing. You don't need makeup to make a guy notice you." He said in a very casual tone but it was obvious enough for Sofia to pick it up cause the next thing I knew, she was wiggling her brows at me.

Of course she didn't make it obvious enough for Jake to notice. I glared at her before turning to Jake again, pressing my lips together to form a small smile. "Thanks."

I was slowly starting to get fond of Jake and Sofia. It was a slow process but yeah, they were really fun to be around and who knows…maybe living as Theadora may not be so bad after all.

~~~~~~~~~
I scrolled through my phone as I lay on my tummy with my legs hanging in the air. It was the weekend and I had never really had time to myself since I had been struggling with my studies so I could maintain Thea's straight A record.
I was thrilled when I stumbled upon Thea's diary app on her phone. Finally I could find out a lot more about her that no one knew about…and maybe I could finally get some info on how I ended up here and where Thea might be.
I felt a knot twist in my tummy when the thought of death came to my mind. I didn't know Thea. Hell, we hadn't even met before, but I knew how I felt when I thought I was going to die and now I was living a different life and stuck in a body that didn't even belong to me.
So I couldn't help but feel bad for Thea.
I had been scrolling through her diary for a few hours now, and I had to say, her life wasn't really something to talk about.
Yeah, she started keeping track a few years ago but still…from the looks of it, she only wrote stuff down when something major happened and that was like once or twice in a month.
Thrice if I was lucky.
It turns out that she did have a father but he was away on a business trip…well that I already knew. And Sofia and her had been friends for about two years…I also knew that.
Apart from school stuff, Naomi's relentless torments and her long lasting crush on Jake, nothing was new. Well they were actually…they were just not important.
I was still going through the diary when I heard a knock on the door.
"Come in." I yelled out without taking my eyes off my phone. The door then creaked open and I turned to see Brianna standing at the door with her phone in her hand.
It had been about two weeks since I woke up here and I had to admit, I had gotten a bit used to having Brianna and Elvis around. They had all just assumed I decided to change and come out of my shell and they stopped questioning me when I acted differently.
Brianna and I even watched a movie together last night and the other day I helped Elvis wash his car and afterwards, we played a video game together. We ended up changing our clothes since we got water all over ourselves but it was fun.
"Is anything the matter?" I lifted a brow and then she tore her eyes off her phone, fixing them on me as she walked into the room.
"Um hello? Have you forgotten?" Her brows quirked. "Didn't you and Jake plan a hang out or something?"
"What?" I blinked rapidly before she let out an exasperated sigh and the next words that came out of her mouth drew all the air out of my lungs.
"Jake is waiting for you in the living room."
"What?!"
