Chapter 511: I LOVE YOU, EROS.
Eros and Emily drove back to the pack. When they arrived at the border of their pack's territory, they could see Ariana, waiting for them there. She didn't have enough patience to wait until they reached the pack house to make sure that her mate was all right, despite her having been calling every minute from the moment she knew Colton was attacked.
Ariana couldn't help but make sure Emily had done everything, although she knew she was more than capable of handling the matter at hand. Sometimes, she would apologize to her because she put so much pressure on her, but of course, Emily wouldn't take that into account, since she knew how stressed she was to know her other half was in a critical condition.
"Colton." Ariana entered the car and sat in the backseat. All of her focus was on the gamma. She carried a brief check on him and this made Colton chuckle.
"I am fine, you have taught Emily perfectly, she knew what she was doing," Colton said lightly, but he immediately clamped his mouth shut when he saw how Emily was glaring at him.
She didn't take this matter lightly at all.
"You are fine…" Ariana sighed deeply and snuggled into his arms. The healer even forgot that they were not alone in this car, until Emily giggled.
"You didn't even look at me, I am offended," Emily teased her. Only then did Ariana lift her head and ask both Emily and Eros how they were doing. "We are fine, thank you for asking."
She wanted to tease her further, but Ariana was too distraught so she stopped at that. Instead, she threw a furtive glance at Eros, who didn't say anything during their trip. He was not a man of too many words, but during this time, he was exceptionally quiet.
This fact alone bothered Emily, she really wanted to know what was in his mind. She wanted to know if that white haired girl was in his mind. Yet, she was afraid to hear the answer.
They drove in silence once again, as Ariana was content to have her mate back and see for herself that he was not in any critical condition.
But, for the first time in her life, Ariana was holding a grudge.
The healer was a quiet girl and chose to stay far from conflicts, just like Colton. Both of them would go with the flow and not bother with anything else, even when the power shifted from alpha Xerxes to alpha Liam, they survived because of their blind loyalty toward whoever the Alpha was at that time.
Yet, this incident had made Ariana realize this wouldn't be the last time Liam would put his subordinates in danger. He wouldn't think twice to put either Eros, Colton or anyone else in danger, as long as he could reach his goal.
For him, they were replaceable and didn't matter much.
Ariana glanced at Eros furtively. She wanted to know more about this young lycan…
======================
After they returned to the pack house, Eros and Colton were immediately summoned to give a report to the alpha, not even having a chance to put their things inside their bedrooms, because the messenger said it was urgent.
Some people, who knew that they left with Josh, asked about him, but Ariana intervened and told them to back off, saying Emily needed to rest.
She thanked her for that, because she didn't know what to say at this point. For them to not know that Josh had died, it only meant the alpha wanted this not to be disclosed yet.
In the end, Emily skipped lunch and slept throughout the afternoon, but even so, Eros was nowhere to be seen. He had only returned before midnight.
"Why did you not sleep yet?" Eros frowned when he saw Emily was still wide awake, he walked into the room haggardly. It was clear to see that whatever discussion that Eros had with Liam had taken a toll on him and he didn't enjoy it at all.
"I am waiting for you." Emily walked over and hugged him tightly. She knew that she was being clingy again, but she couldn't help it, she felt like Eros would slip through her fingers.
But, just like sand, the more she held onto him tightly, the more she would lose him.
Eros frowned slightly, Emily was not usually like this, but he hugged her back, sensing how uneasy she seemed. "Have you eaten?" she shook her head. "Come with me, let's eat. I am hungry."
Eros had essentially skipped breakfast, lunch and dinner altogether, since he drove all the way back to the pack and only got a piece of bread to keep him going, since he didn't feel like eating.
Emily lifted her head and then looked at Eros, she expected a kiss, but he didn't go for it.
Was it too much for her to ask him to take the initiative to show his affection toward her? Or this how Eros was? He was not too open with that kind of thing.
For some reason, Emily she felt like she knew him, after all they had grown up together, yet at the same time, she didn't know him. It was confusing…
"Okay, will you cook for me?" Emily asked cheerfully, hiding her convoluted thoughts. She had been anxious all this time since Eros met with Zuri. She felt like she would snatch him away at any moment.
Good thing was; they would never cross paths again.
At least, that was what she thought.
"Sure, what do you want?" Eros said, as he grabbed her hand and walked out of the bedroom, this was a simple gesture, but Emily paid more attention to it.
"I want to eat meat." Emily kissed his arm and grinned at him.
"Okay."
That was it. It was the Eros that she knew, someone that she could rely on and would fulfill all of her wishes.
"I love you, Eros," Emily said, waiting for his reply.
