Chapter 7: Chapter 7: A Year of Time
Having comprehended the Grass and Wood Sword Technique, Lin Jiufeng's life remained unchanged. Even though he had mastered this technique, he had no opponent to test it against for now. The ever-watchful Taishang Dao outside Feathered Transformation Sect might have been a good target, but his current cultivation was still too shallow—he needed to accumulate strength.
In the days that followed, Lin Jiufeng spent his time stimulating the energy of his five internal organs and condensing the Five Elemental Divine Beasts. Additionally, he worked on understanding sword intent, which was crucial for the Grass and Wood Sword Technique. The stronger his sword intent, the more formidable the technique became. Just like with the divine beasts, he progressed little by little each day, slowly accumulating power.
Time passed.
...
In the blink of an eye, a year had quietly slipped away.
Over the past year, Lin Jiufeng had condensed one divine beast every three months, successfully forming the other four. Now, standing at the pinnacle of the Fourth Seal, his five internal organs were complete, and the Five Elemental Divine Beasts resided within him, creating a perfect cycle.
Vermilion Bird, Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Qilin, Black Tortoise.
With these five divine beasts, Lin Jiufeng's power had surged to the equivalent of ten dragons and ten elephants. A single punch from him could now crush a Fifth Seal cultivator, and he didn't even need to rely on the Grass and Wood Sword Technique. If he used it, he could even challenge a Sixth Seal expert. Over the past year, his sword intent had deepened significantly.
Throughout this time, neither Lin Jiufeng nor his three apprentices had left Feathered Transformation Sect, nor had anyone entered.
The sect had truly become an isolated island, cut off from the outside world.
But this was of little concern to Lin Jiufeng—he could cultivate in peace without stepping outside.
Inside the Scripture Pavilion, the air was filled with the fragrance of tea and sandalwood incense. Lin Jiufeng sat with Wen Xinyun, Zhou Tianzi, and Yue Dashan, enjoying a quiet tea session.
Over the past year, the three children had trained diligently, day and night, finally reaching the Second Seal.
Eleven years old and already at the Second Seal.
If word of this got out, it would shock the entire cultivation world.
Even within the Taishang Dao, such prodigies were virtually unheard of. Fortunately, since Feathered Transformation Sect had been sealed off, their existence remained a secret. Otherwise, Taishang Dao would have already taken action—either forcing them to join or eliminating them outright. There would be no third option.
"Master Uncle, I still want to cultivate. You called me to drink tea, but I can't even taste it properly," Yue Dashan complained. At eleven, he had grown even stronger, now standing at 1.8 meters tall and weighing over 300 jin—a walking mountain of muscle.
Lin Jiufeng sighed, "Cultivation requires balance. You've spent a year pushing yourself relentlessly. You need to rest and plan for the future."
Wen Xinyun, with her delicate hands, lightly smacked Yue Dashan. "Master Uncle is right. You've been training non-stop. A little break won't hurt."
Thanks to her cultivation, Wen Xinyun had blossomed into a graceful young lady, her natural beauty shining through without the need for adornments. She was undoubtedly a future peerless beauty.
Zhou Tianzi, with his sharp brows and radiant eyes, chuckled. "Getting Dashan to sit still and drink tea is no easy feat."
Watching the three children, Lin Jiufeng couldn't help but marvel at how quickly they had grown.
"Enough complaints. Drink your tea, and then you can go train," Lin Jiufeng scolded.
Yue Dashan grinned and downed his tea in one big gulp—like a cow chewing on peonies.
Lin Jiufeng glared at him in frustration. "That's it! No more tea for you."
Wen Xinyun rolled her eyes at Yue Dashan. "This tea may come from the mountains, but Master Uncle picked it himself. You should at least learn to appreciate it."
Yue Dashan, instead of leaving, laid down on the tea couch and asked, "Master Uncle, why do you think Taishang Dao has surrounded us without attacking?"
Lin Jiufeng replied, "Your master is still alive."
"But Master is only at the Seventh Seal. Taishang Dao is so powerful—would they really fear him?" Wen Xinyun asked.
"If they destroy Feathered Transformation Sect without ensuring your master's death, then they'll have created an enemy who lurks in the shadows, waiting for revenge," Lin Jiufeng explained.
Zhou Tianzi's eyes flickered with understanding. "So instead of wiping us out, they sealed us off, trapping Master inside so that he can't retaliate."
"Exactly. Your master is waiting for his breakthrough. And Taishang Dao is waiting, too. It's just a matter of who gets there first."
By surrounding Feathered Transformation Sect without attacking, Taishang Dao had pushed them to the brink. But their lack of direct action suggested uncertainty—they weren't confident they could deal with Bai Yunfei, a Seventh Seal expert.
"If that's the case, why doesn't Taishang Dao send one of their Eighth Seal Dao Ancestors to end this?" Yue Dashan asked.
Lin Jiufeng shook his head. "Taishang Dao has many enemies. Given their overbearing nature, they've certainly made plenty of them."
"Then all we can do is hope Master breaks through first," Wen Xinyun sighed.
Lin Jiufeng waved a hand. "Enough worrying. That's not your concern—your master and I will handle it."
With that, he shooed them off to continue training.
Left alone, he sipped his tea in peace, gazing out the window.
Beyond the majestic mountains, an invisible net loomed over Feathered Transformation Sect.
Over the past year, that net had been tightening.
Taishang Dao wasn't simply keeping them trapped—they were gradually advancing.
However, their movements were cautious, still wary of Bai Yunfei.
As long as Bai Yunfei remained silent, and Taishang Dao's Eighth Seal experts refrained from taking action, Feathered Transformation Sect could hang on a little longer.
After all, within the Seventh Seal, Bai Yunfei had already proven his strength.
