Unmasking the Heart

Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Unexpected kiss

"You enjoy talking to my woman, don't you?" Adrian's voice was low and even, but it sent a shiver down my spine.

He looked at the man with a gaze that could freeze water at a hundred paces. The man's eyes darted back and forth between us, and he stuttered out an apology before beating a hasty retreat.

I watched him go, feeling a mix of relief and embarrassment. "Coward," I muttered under my breath, feeling a twinge of satisfaction at seeing him flee.

I turned my gaze to Adrian, feeling a flutter in my chest. He was watching me, his eyes narrowed slightly as if sizing me up.

I felt a blush rise to my cheeks as I greeted him, trying to sound casual.

"H-hi, sir." I stuttered, feeling a little awkward.

Adrian's expression softened, and he smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners.

"You look amazing," he said, his voice low and smooth.

I felt my heart skip a beat as I smiled back at him, feeling a little shy. "Thank you, sir."

Adrian signaled the waiter and ordered a bottle of expensive wine. "Would you like to drink with me?" he asked, his eyes glinting with amusement.

I hesitated for a moment, feeling a little uncertain. But then I nodded, not wanting to seem rude. "Of course, sir," I said, trying to sound polite.

Adrian smiled and poured me a glass of wine. We sat there in silence for a moment, sipping our drinks.

I felt a little awkward, not knowing what to say. But then Adrian spoke up, his voice low and smooth. "Do you mind dancing with me?"

His question caught me off guard, and I felt a momentary freeze. Dance with him? Adrian, my cold and distant boss, wanted to dance with me?

I couldn't help but wonder what was going on behind those piercing eyes of his. I looked up at him, my heart racing in my chest.

He was standing up, his hand extended to me, waiting for my answer. I felt a shiver run down my spine as I took his hand, his touch sending sparks through my body.

"I...I'd love to," I stuttered, trying to sound calm.

He led me to the dance floor, his hand still holding mine. The music was slow and sultry, and Adrian pulled me close, his body swaying to the rhythm.

I felt a rush of excitement as his hands settled on my waist, his fingers brushing against my skin.

I placed my hands on his chest, feeling the warmth of his body beneath my fingertips.

As we danced, I couldn't help but steal glances at Adrian's face, his eyes closed, his expression relaxed.

He looked...different, softer, more human. And yet, at the same time, he seemed more powerful, more in control.

"You dance beautifully," Adrian said, his voice low and husky, breaking the silence between us.

I felt a flutter in my chest as I met his gaze, his eyes gleaming with warmth. I cleared my throat, trying to sound calm. "Thanks."

My face felt hot, and I knew I must be blushing. I glanced away, trying to compose myself.

Adrian chuckled, the sound sending a shiver down my spine. I heard him chuckle but I didn't see him cos I didn't look at him.

"What brings you here, sir?" I asked, trying to sound casual and composed. I glanced up at Adrian, meeting his gaze.

He was watching me, his eyes narrowed slightly as if studying me.

"This is a party," he replied, his voice low and smooth. "Am I not allowed to come?" He raised an eyebrow, a hint of amusement dancing in his eyes.

I felt a flutter in my chest as I smiled, trying to brush off the awkwardness. "I was just wondering... You don't look like the party type.

Adrian leaned in, his voice dropping to a whisper. "It's a friend's night, I need to attend, don't you think?"

His hot breath danced across my earlobe, sending shivers down my spine. I felt my heart racing as I nodded, trying to play it cool.

"That's right." I managed to stammer out a reply, my voice barely above a whisper.

We continued dancing, the tension between us palpable. Suddenly, I heard a familiar voice cutting through the music.

As the music faded, Emily's voice cut through the silence. "Joi! There you are. I've been looking for you." Emily strolled towards us, Ryan by her side, a wide smile plastered on her face. I felt a flush rise to my cheeks as I broke away from the dance, Adrian's hand still holding mine.

"Here's another attempt at continuing the conversation:

"Is it time to go?" I asked, looking at Emily and Ryan as they stood before us.

"For I and Ryan, yes." Emily's eyes flicked to Adrian, a questioning glint in her gaze.

"This is Emily, my best friend and sister," I said to Adrian, attempting to smooth over the awkwardness.

"Hi..." Emily extended her hand for a handshake, but Adrian barely touched her hand before releasing it.

"A...And this is my boss Emily." I added quickly, feeling a flush rise to my cheeks.

"I'm Adrain." Adrian's voice was curt, his tone polite but distant.

"Ohhhhh... He's the boss... I'm sorry I thought you were her new man." Emily said, still smiling, but Adrian's face darkened at her words.

"Emily... I told you I'm not ready for that yet. You can go with Ryan, I'll hail a cab back home." I said, trying to intervene and prevent any more awkwardness.

"Okay take care and have fun." Emily kissed my cheek. "Okay." I watched them leave after Ryan talked to Adrian briefly with respect acknowledging Adrian.

It seemed like he knew Adrian was a powerful figure, which explained why he spoke to him with such deference, mainly business-like.

I was left with Adrian and I felt like going home.

"I think it's time for me to leave too, thanks for the dance... And the drink." I said smiling at Adrian, looking into his crystal blue eyes.

"You're welcome. I can drop you off." Adrian held my hand, walking away, giving me no chance to object.

The ride to my house was quiet, the only sound the soft hum of the engine. I fidgeted with my hands, feeling a bit awkward.

"The wine tasted good," I said finally, trying to break the silence.

Adrian's response was a noncommittal "Hmm."

I glanced over at him, wondering what he was thinking. Was he regretting the dance, the drink, or something more?

I decided to take a chance and ask him directly.

"Why did you hire me, sir? It's not the P.A. position, but the fiancée thing, right?" I asked, my curiosity getting the better of me.

Adrian's gaze remained fixed on the road ahead, his expression unreadable.

"You figured it out already," he said finally, his voice low and even. "I'll pay you better than that if you agree to it."

I felt a surge of surprise at his blunt admission.

"You're willing to pay me to be your fake fiancée?" I asked, trying to process the offer.

Adrian's expression remained impassive, his eyes fixed on some point in front of him.

"The details will be discussed tomorrow," he said curtly, his tone brooking no further discussion.

I echoed, my voice barely above a whisper. "No flings?"

Adrian's gaze remained icy, his tone detached.

"It's purely pretense. No strings attached."

I nodded hastily, my mind racing with the possibilities. Desperation had driven me to consider his proposal, but the prospect of becoming a cosmetologist kept me rooted. I needed the money, and Adrian's offer was my ticket to making that dream a reality.

"How much are we talking about here?" I asked, trying to keep my tone neutral despite the turmoil brewing inside me.

Adrian's expression remained impassive, but a hint of amusement danced in his eyes.

"I'll take care of your needs, and I'll give you 30 million dollars for to start. If I'm satisfied with you, that amount will increase to 50 million."

I felt my ears repeat the amount, stunned into silence. The driver's voice broke the spell, announcing our arrival at my destination. "We are here."

I cleared my throat, trying to compose myself. "I'll give you a reply on Monday. Have a goodnight, sir."

As I reached for the car door, Adrian's hand shot out, pulling me back. His lips crashed against mine, sending a jolt of electricity through my body.

I didn't resist, my lips parting to allow his tongue to explore my mouth. The kiss deepened, growing rougher, and I felt my body respond, my heart racing with excitement.

My eyes shut tight, and my hands instinctively pulled his hair, drawing him closer.

His hands roamed freely over my body, sending shivers down my spine. I felt his grip on my ass, and a spark of desire ignited within me.

With a swift movement, he pulled me onto his lap, and I sat comfortably, my hands wrapping around his neck. My breasts pressed hard against his chest, and I felt his erection poking my leg.

I felt my p*ssy aching.

I broke the kiss, my face flushing with embarrassment. My hair was disheveled, and I could feel Adrian's warm breath on my skin.

He smiled, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction, and I saw the darkness in his eyes again. It was a look that sent shivers down my spine.

He kissed my face and neck, his lips tracing a path of fire on my skin. I couldn't get enough of him, my body craving his touch, my heart pounding in my chest.

"A... Adrian" I stuttered.

"Hmmm." He kept on kissing my neck and sucking on it. I'm sure he'll leave a mark there.

"We need to stop... This isn't right." I tried to control my breaths and moans.

He suddenly stop sucking and licking my neck. He did not look at me and I felt this was the right opportunity to leave but my legs felt weak.

I felt suddenly tired and I fell on his body. I need a hot bath and a long sleep. I perceived his masculine perfume and it's really good.

I steadied my breath, same as Adrain and sat on the chair reaching for the door.

"Goodnight sir."

I was at least waiting for an explanation so I hesitated a little.

Silence.

I've never felt so stupid before, I angrily got out of the car and it drove away quickly.

I walked to my apartment and shut the door close. I locked the door pouring my annoyance on everything.
