Chapter 21: Queen Zara: I was waiting for you
Luke looked at the Lunari guards around him and felt a déjà vu.
Indeed, he had only been reincarnated a few weeks ago, and he had been in this same situation twice.
However, this time the result would not be the same as before. He was no longer the young man without cultivation from that time, now he had enough power to face any Lunari who was not in the first echelon of power in Lunaria.
"Don't move, human! What are you doing in our territory?!"
Said one of the Lunari who was the leader of one of the multiple groups that were around him.
Luke's existence was known by few people in Lunaria. To begin with, everything that had happened within the courtroom, where he had exposed the power of his Lunari lineage, had been censored by Queen Zara, and no one could speak about it. Even the nobles who opposed her obeyed this order, although perhaps they did not do so out of loyalty.
In addition, few people had seen his face that day.
So to these guards in front of him now, he was just another human, who had trespassed into their forest.
The reason why there were so many groups of royal guards gathered together, and they looked so nervous, was because the spatial distortion that the Aetheris had created had generated a large wave of spiritual energy. These guards feared that Luke was an enemy with monstrous power, who had come to attack their city.
After all, spatial magic was very rare on the continent. Mysterious things tend to induce fear.
Luke obviously couldn't give up and turn himself in as a prisoner like last time. If Noral's shackles were put on him, he would once again be at the mercy of other people.
He activated his movement technique and headed at full speed towards Lunaria, leaving behind the royal guards, who, seeing him disappear, panicked and began to urgently report the situation.
Luke arrived unopposed to the city, along the way he had encountered several individuals of high cultivation level who had apparently been dispatched to go check on the situation in the forest. However these experts were unable to discover Luke's presence, who now that he had a large amount of spiritual energy at his disposal, simply eliminated his aura with a secret technique he had stolen from the assassin clan in his past life.
He entered the city planning to head straight to his temporary room, which had been assigned to him by the church of the dragon goddess, however before he could advance too far, a man with a stern expression blocked his path.
"Luke Lyriksen, his majesty wishes to see you, accompany me," Godrick said bluntly.
Luke did not know who the person in front of him was, and he would not go with him just because he was ordered to, he was not anyone's subordinate, after all.
Your majesty? There were at least a dozen people who referred to themselves in that way in this place.
"I wonder, which majesty are you referring to?"
"There is only one person who can use that title in this city. Her majesty, Queen Zara."
Upon hearing the man's reply, Luke raised his eyebrows in surprise.
He would finally have an audience with the queen? Zara had told him that she was going to summon him to discuss certain important matters, but she had never done so and he thought that the queen had simply dismissed the matter.
Luke was curious about what the sexy queen wanted to tell him, so he decided to go. He could also ask her about the captives she had sent via the teleportation talisman. Last among his reasons for answering the queen's summons was the fact that he wanted to see her voluptuous body that appeared in his dreams every night. Not that he was that lascivious…
"Alright, lead the way then."
Godrick turned around and headed towards the palace without another word. After a few minutes, they reached the palace, entered under the solemn greeting of the guards and headed to the room where Queen Zara usually attended to government affairs, it was a kind of work office for her.
Godrick knocked on the door and a melodious voice indicated that he could enter.
When Luke went through the door and saw the scene inside, his heart skipped a beat. In the big room was the beautiful Queen Zara, who was sitting in an armchair in a suggestive pose, her explosive curves clearly marked beneath her clothes
But there was also another person present, the priestess Namira!
Seeing the priestess's infatuated look, Luke felt a little guilty for his lascivious thoughts towards the queen. After all, Namira had proposed to him the last time they had seen each other. In his mind the situation was as if his girlfriend had caught him looking at other women on the street.
However, this state of mind of Luke was temporary. In his previous life he had only had one partner, but he knew very well that with the modifications introduced in the new version of the system, he was destined to practice polygamy in this incarnation, otherwise his mind would probably not be able to hold his accumulated desire, and he would end up with his mind or soul destroyed.
Sometimes Luke thought about the influence of the system on him, perhaps that was what the "universal slave" label on his status screen referred to. After all, the system professed to be a tool that was designed to fulfill his deepest desires, but ultimately ended up constricting his freedom with its modifications.
Or perhaps he was a slave to his own desires.
Namira was ecstatic, she could finally see Luke again and see that he was safe and sound. In the last few days she had been very worried because the young human had suddenly disappeared. She feared that Forxis might have harmed him in a fit of madness.
Despite being extremely happy to see him again, and wanting to go hug him with all her might, the priestess remained in place without moving an inch, trying not to show her emotions. If Godrick were not present, she might have shown her relief, but after spending her life immersed in conspiracies, she acted cautiously in front of people she could not fully trust. As for people who met the requirements to see his true personality? Only Queen Zara qualified.
Godrick slightly bowed his head and said
"I have brought Luke Lyriksen, your majesty."
Queen Zara looked at the young human with curiosity, showing a flirtatious smile. However, her expression changed in an instant. Frowning, she said
"Godrick, you may leave."
Godrick nodded and left the room, closing the door behind him.
Only Luke and the two women remained in the room.
Zara continued to look at him and said in a solemn tone
"Have you had an accident?" "What happened in the Spider Queen's territory?"
Luke wasn't surprised to see that Zara knew about his trip to the Spider Queen's territory, after all he had been followed halfway by a group of Lunaris who were probably serving the queen, directly or indirectly. Still, he didn't know how much he could tell her about what happened. There were several points he couldn't explain.
Queen Zara looked at him hesitantly, and spoke again.
"I should have talked to you much earlier, but I was waiting to see your performance first. Don't worry, although I don't know for sure all of your mission, I have a general idea of your situation."
Hearing this, Luke looked confused. What was this sensual woman talking about? Mission? Did she mean system missions?
He tried to test the waters to see how Zara would respond.
"I'm not sure what your majesty means. I'm simply a landless noble, seeking to increase my combat power."
"You don't need to hide it, Luke. I know very well that you are the universal warrior, whose arrival was prophesied by the dragon goddess long before the birth of my race."
Upon hearing the queen refer to him as "universal warrior," he immediately thought of the epithet the system had assigned him on the status screen, "universal slave."
Luke's mind began to work at a thousand miles an hour, his thoughts wandering through various theories that he was discarding or refining with each passing second.
Seeing him in that state, the queen frowned even more. Did he himself not know his own status? She thought
Queen Zara sighed
"It doesn't seem like you're faking dementia. I see that you don't know the importance of your role in the future that is to come. Let me explain it to you."
The queen was about to begin her explanation but was interrupted by Namira, who until then had been standing there silently.
"Zara, let me do it."
Namira looked at the young human who was watching her with curiosity, and began her explanation.
"When the world we live in was still inhabited by the gods, they predicted that a catastrophe that would destroy everything was coming. Despite being so powerful, they could not prevent the destruction of reality as they knew it, and the death of all beings.
Finally, through methods that we do not know, they managed to postpone this catastrophe.
The gods then withdrew from this plane of reality, to enter a deep sleep. According to the scriptures, they would only appear at the final moment, at the decisive moment.
After our people were created in ancient times, the dragon goddess, like the other gods, entered a deep sleep. However, in each generation she chose a medium, through whom she could communicate with her people.
At some point in history, the goddess's oracles changed. An entity began to be mentioned in the goddess's messages, "the universal warrior."
Because of the difficulty in transmitting messages, we do not know with complete certainty the future that lies ahead. But we do know that the role of the universal warrior is pivotal in avoiding the destruction of reality."
Luke interrupted her
"It was not impossible to avoid the catastrophe?"
"That's right. The gods did not have the power to avoid the destruction of reality. We do not have the whole story, but we believe that they finally found a way to save reality using another method, perhaps a power greater than that of the gods themselves. Although we do not know for sure what this plan is, we do know that the universal warrior is an essential piece to save reality!"
"And you think I am that warrior?" Luke said with some pessimism. A job like "saving the world" was far from the quiet life he wanted to live. One could imagine how bloody such a path to salvation would be.
Namira blushed. Looking at the handsome boy, she answered in a small voice.
"Well, the goddess sent me an oracle. She told me that the universal warrior would come to take me as his wife, and then you appeared…"
Zara could not continue watching the priestess who had lost focus of the conversation and was sinking into her classic love delusions. They had been friends since childhood, and since she was little, Namira had longed for one thing: to experience a great love.
The queen interrupted her and continued to direct the conversation in the right direction.
"We are not certain that you are the universal warrior of the prophecy, but we are almost sure. Namira… Well, she has her reasons for believing so. But I have also been able to verify your identity by myself."
Before Luke could ask her, she continued explaining.
"You see, I possess a special ability that not many people in this world possess. You may not know it, but our world is deterministic. That is to say, the events that will happen have already been established. These events are immutable, even my own actions are already determined. If I were a little more cynical, I could say that all of us who live in this world are slaves to reality."
Zara spoke of such heartbreaking concepts as if she were talking about what she had had for breakfast that morning. Her calm smile never left her beautiful face. That generated mixed emotions in Luke.
Seeing that the boy seemed to be dismayed by what she was saying, she smiled affably, showing an expression of tenderness that probably no one had ever seen before.
"Don't make that face. There's a reason I said "if I were more cynical." It's a difficult concept to explain, but it's not a determinism that alters our freedom of action. It's not as if I wanted to do A but the world forced me to do B. You should think of it more like a book that has already been written, right now we are living on a page of the book, the story had a beginning, and it also has an end. Whatever I want to do, I will do it anyway, but even that thing I want to do has already been recorded in the great book that makes up reality."
Luke understood what Queen Zara meant, but it still didn't make him feel any better. The idea that everything he did was predetermined made him feel uneasy from deep within. The title "universal slave" kept appearing in his mind. As if mocking him.
"But back to the topic, the ability that I possess and that I mentioned to you before, is to observe the causal nodes. This reality is determined, and the causal nodes are the fixed points that make up the structure of reality. You could say that they are the events that must happen "no matter what", the causal nodes make up reality, what is between them can vary slightly, but the causal nodes are fixed and never change."
Luke understood what the queen was trying to explain. In his first life, on planet Earth, he had seen a similar theory. Causal nodes were basically like save points in a video game, one could reach a stage in a video game with different methods, but the stage itself had to happen. What would vary was whether one arrived with an empty or full magazine, with more or less life points, etc.
The Lunari queen continued her explanation
"Although I can see causal nodes, I cannot see their contents, I can simply see that they exist. However, what I can do is notice if a change has occurred in said nodes."
Luke raised his eyebrows
"Changes? They weren't fixed points?"
Queen Zara sat up from the chair she was sitting on and began to approach Luke with a cat-like walk. Her beautiful, large butt shook seductively with each step she took. She continued speaking as she approached him.
"That is the point, Mr. Luke. The causal nodes should be fixed points, since they are the basic structure of all reality. And yet there was a change in them recently."
The queen continued to approach and was only a couple of steps away from Luke.
"We do not have all the information we would like to have regarding the universal warrior, his role in the coming future, and the possible salvation of reality. What we do know is that the universal warrior seems to have the ability to introduce changes in reality by modifying the causal nodes. In that case, might it not be possible to rewrite the end of the book we live in as well?"
Queen Zara came to where Luke was and stopped right in front of him, their bodies were almost glued together, a sweet aroma reached him, like a refreshing breeze in summer. The queen of the Lunari was sweet as honey! His body simply cried out to be next to her.
Zara reached out her hand and pressed her index finger against Luke's chest, then showed a flirtatious expression that could melt the coldest heart.
"A causal node was modified by something you did while in the Spider Queen's territory. In that case, tell me Mister Luke Lyriksen. Are you not the universal warrior we have been waiting for?"
