Did You Mean It?
"I am not certain why, but since that day I've gone through this every time I've thought of you. And it increased sharply when I saw you today, and it continues to increase when I am in contact with you. This has never happened to me before, so I am confused myself as I fail to control this no matter how much I try…"
Makima herself wasn't sure, that is why she wanted to go visit him. Hoping that he would give her an answer, and when he came in front of her. She had forgotten about her questions, and just decided to spend the time with him.
"Well, it certainly is something… Do you have any idea when this started?" Adam didn't want to just guess on his own. Because the direction he was thinking of cannot possibly be correct.
'She seems perfectly fine. And her body is still the same, so what is it?' The information he had didn't seem enough, so he needed more. He wanted to know more to be certain before jumping to the conclusion.
"When it started? It was after we had that talk at the end. I felt something… unusual at that time." Makima still remembered it clearly, it started right after they spoke and he left.
"It was something similar to excitement or happiness if I had to compare it with what humans feel." A feeling which wasn't possible for her, yet it still appeared.
"I think your words caused it." She was certain of it as she thought about it again.
"My words?" Adam's eyes widened thinking back on what he had said to her last time. It wasn't anything crazy as he was just speaking his mind, and that was the reason it seemed to have such an effect.
"Yes, it was the first time I had heard something like that. Normally it is me who endlessly pursues someone until they are mine. I am trying it even now with you, but there hasn't been a prior case where my target was doing the same for me." Makima had never felt this kind of response from someone who wasn't under her control.
She had not been confronted that way ever before, to hear that he would continue to pursue her till they could have a normal relationship, knowing how impossible it was for her. It triggered something inside her. As it was the first time the chaser was chased and she was caught immediately, without her knowledge because she had no idea of what it was like to be in that position without made-up affection.
"Hearing that you will never give up on me… did something to me." Makima slowly sat in the lap of a dumbfounded Adam.
Her lips formed a smile on its own as her heartbeat began to rise. The physical changes that happened to her body since then have been a surprise, as no matter the time she had been thinking about him, the words he said kept ringing in her head. Makima had been unable to sleep at night even if she wanted to, wondering about one thing.
"Adam… did you mean that?" She cupped his face and turned it towards her. It was the first time she was in such a situation as it wasn't in her control—she had no way of verifying it on her own—that is why she wanted to hear it from him.
He looked into her yellow eyes, they weren't dull like before. There was a hint of how unsure she was, and it shouldn't be present in the eyes of someone like her. But he could tell that she was expecting him to deny her assumption. After all, she had never expected anything like that to happen to her.
"Of course I meant it, and I will stand by it." But Adam affirmed his previous words. He had promised himself to do his best for his dream. He liked Makima, she was the type to go over the top with her actions but he was fine with it, as he wasn't planning to be any different. And this was something that he wouldn't go back on no matter what.
Because that was her nature and he had his, but in this clash, one side had to yield. Otherwise, there was no hope for it, and surprisingly one side did.
"So, you'll never stop chasing me no matter what?" Makima's felt her face heating up yet her voice remained the same.
"Yes, you can try to control me and I'll defend against your schemes while trying to form a proper relationship with you," Adam repeated the words he said that day and he could feel her heartbeat rise while the redness on her face increased.
Makima looked down and then to the side at a loss, she was processing the words trying to make sense of them. Her brain ran at unimaginable speed to figure out the next move with the knowledge she had, and the thing was that she knew the answer. Every simulation she ran in the past days ended up leading in one direction.
'There may be no other approach… If I just keep trying to control him at every chance, will it ever work out? It is not possible…' Considering the condition of her body and the thoughts she had been having as of late. The mind just ran in one direction when she knew that he wasn't lying, so Makima lifted her eyes to match his again. Her unsureness was nowhere to be found now, there was only one thing in them now.
"I think I am fine with it." She said.
"With what?" And he looked at her with slight confusion that lasted only for a second.
"About the relationship… I want to give it a try with you." This was the first time she had felt it, so she wanted to confront it head-on. To explore more of this new side of her, one that only came out around him.
"Really?" He asked and she gave him a nod.
"But I want you to do something for me, Adam," Seeing the sudden ambiguous smile on her lips caused him to raise a brow, but he waited for her. Only for Makima to straddle him and cupping his face with a deep blush on her own. The deep curiosity in her eyes was enchanting as she leaned in closer.
"Adam, I want to do it,"
