Chapter 37: Press Conference (Part 2)
"I liked her long before the fan sign event. I liked her sincerely, and I came to the fan sign event to give a gift to the person I like. Mia is a girl who has everything, so I thought I should give her something special. I chose to give her a statue that would show her how charming she looked when she pursued her dreams. I first fell in love with her when I saw her singing on stage like I tried to portray in the statue. I think I started to like her for that reason."
Victor stopped his words when he thought his confession could explain to everyone that their love was sincere without any money involved.
"Does that mean Mr. Victor is the first to start pursuing this relationship? Isn't it a bit irresponsible for Mr. Victor to chase after a young artist like this?"
Victor's eyebrows raised when he heard the next question. His face remained calm as he smiled towards the camera and the reporters.
"Does love also require standards? Mia is an adult. She has the right to determine her path. I don't think a seven-year age difference is that bad."
The reporter who asked Victor that question immediately fell silent when he saw Victor smiling but with a cold and threatening look in his eyes. With just that look, everyone finally knew that even though they were free to ask questions. But, there were still invisible boundaries that kept them from asking outrageous questions.
They thought people would protect them. But when faced with Victor's cold smile, it seemed that they still couldn't hold back the fear that slowly crept into their minds.
"Any other questions?"
Facing the silence of the reporters, Lily once again asked them. Someone dared to raise their hand. This broadcast was live, and the chances of their lives were still high, even if they offended Victor or Enzo at the same time.
They only had to be brave and no longer touch the limits of the two scary men.
"From Miss Mia's achievements, it should not be difficult for her to start living on her own and no longer rely on Mr. Enzo. Is there a special reason why Miss Mia continues to live with Mr. Enzo, who has never had any issues dating until now?"
The real reason for the question was clear. They were questioning why Mia, who was only Enzo's cousin, had to continue living together even when the two had reached adulthood. In the past, their close relationship had never even been a problem. But when you think about it, it is a little strange for a man like Enzo to continue to refuse to date and focus on paying attention to Mia.
Victor signaled for Enzo to explain everything. The man nodded. He stared at the reporters for a long time before Enzo finally opened his mouth.
"Mia has a trauma that prevents her from living alone. As her guardian, it is clear that I must look after her and take care of her from that trauma. And about my relationship, I have someone, but I don't think I must flaunt my relationship on social media or people who are always curious about my affairs. I value privacy, and I don't want someone I love to be affected in their life just because she has a special relationship with me."
Enzo's words were clear. He had someone by his side. It's just that Enzo and his partner refused to tell people about their relationship.
Mia was secretly shocked when she heard that confession. Mia had never seen her cousin with someone, let alone having a relationship. But on her face, Mia tried to stay calm because Enzo and Victor had reminded her many times to stay calm during this press conference.
Besides Mia, there was another person who was shocked when she heard the confession. Lily, who was standing near Enzo, silently clenched her fists. Her face looked a little sad but was immediately swept away by a calm smile when another question was asked.
"That trauma... does it have anything to do with the takeover of Miss Mia's custody from her parents when she was little?"
Mia's heart immediately beat faster when this question finally came out. Slowly, her face began to turn pale, as Mia's rational side still tried to calm herself down with the help of gentle strokes that Victor continued to give her.
If Mia thought back, she never knew what happened to her father after Enzo's parents saved her from the stuffy cell where she lived. The image of 'father' in Mia's memory was no less scary than her memory of the accident that killed Enzo's parents. Even now, Mia doesn't dare to ask about her father's condition. The image of the beatings and torture she experienced for years made Mia afraid, even if she only heard someone mention her father. Her lightly shaking hand continued to be held tightly by Victor. Amid her panic, only Victor's warmth managed to keep her from running away to relieve her anxiety.
"Whether it's related or not, we have the right not to talk about this matter to the public. All I can say is that Mia is in a special condition that doesn't allow her to be left alone. I hope you can understand and support Mia's recovery in the future."
When the reporters heard Enzo's calm words and turned to see Mia's suddenly pale face, they finally gave up and no longer dared to mention the trauma issue. Apart from being afraid of the consequences they would receive if they decided to keep their heads up, many of the reporters who were present remembered Mia's kindness before the scandal happened. Mia had never treated them badly. She was even relatively friendly and polite for an artist of her level. So when they directly witnessed that gentle face continue to pale over time, many people decided not to corner her anymore.
When the reporters heard Enzo's calm words and turned to see Mia's suddenly pale face, they finally gave up and no longer dared to mention the trauma issue. Apart from being afraid of the consequences they would receive if they decided to keep their heads down, many of the reporters who were currently present remembered Mia's kindness before this scandal happened. Mia had never treated them badly. She was even quite friendly and polite for an artist of her level. So when they directly witnessed that gentle face continue to turn pale over time, many people decided not to corner this press conference any more.
The questions began to move on to the issue of what actions the agency would take to handle this problem. The CEO, who had been silent, finally began to speak up. They would not expel Mia, because Mia had never violated their agency's motto. Mia's agency was famous for its good treatment of artists and its CEO who was willing to think modernly and openly. In response to that answer, they could only accept it before asking other questions.
The press conference continued according to plan, and there were no more issues about Mia selling herself on social media.
