Under the Spotlight : The Obsession

Chapter 12: Become a Singer!

Enzo sighed when he returned from his education and found several servants still grieving when they greeted him at the door as soon as he returned. His parents' funeral had been completed a week ago, but the faces of their subordinates were still gloomy. Enzo looked at each face that he could see before speaking a little loudly to get their attention.

"Don't put on a gloomy expression like that, or Mia might be affected by it. This family still has me as its successor. Even though I still have to continue my studies while taking care of Mia, that doesn't mean I ain't capable of taking care of their businesses."

"Young Master..."

The people who heard Enzo's loud words were immediately touched when Enzo tried to comfort them with his calm face. Everyone knew that the person with the heaviest burden was Enzo. The one who had just lost his parents was him. They could be sad because they had just lost a boss they trusted. But they also didn't want to burden Enzo with their gloomy attitude.

"Please forgive us, Boss. For showing this ugly face in front of you."

Enzo smiled slightly as several subordinates began to try to look strong in front of him. His gaze shifted to the servant who was next to him. Enzo came home late today. He was afraid that Mia, who had just recovered, would worry him again.

"Where is Mia?" asked Enzo curiously.

"Miss Mia is watching a television show in the living room, Mr. Enzo. She finished her counseling session today, and the psychologist said that for now, Miss Mia will be fine as long as she does not see rain and vehicles for a while. Her vehicle trauma might be eliminated. But, the psychologist said that it would be difficult for Mia to accept the rain again."

"Miss Mia had come to see the rain as the reason why Boss and Madam had died back then. Miss Mia also couldn't remember that a truck had hit them. The muddled memory could have been formed due to trauma or the impact Miss Mia received in the accident," the servant explained at length. They talked as they walked in, eventually reaching the living room where Mia was watching a television program while eating her snack under the watchful eyes of some of Enzo's subordinates.

Enzo's smile widened as Mia's pale face finally disappeared with their hard work. Mia could even relax even though she was surrounded by many people, as her mouth kept chewing on the snacks that Enzo had prepared especially for her.

"Have you eaten, Mia?" Enzo asked with concern. Mia shook her head before showing her beautiful smile.

"I'm waiting for you," she answered softly. Hearing that answer, Enzo smiled. He kissed and gently stroked Mia's hair before sitting next to her.

"Next time, if you're hungry, just eat first without waiting for me, Mia. I don't want you to get sick, and you also need to eat a lot to gain weight," Enzo told her. Mia looked thoughtful after hearing Enzo's request before finally nodding slightly in response.

"But you had to eat if I eat. I don't want to see you get sick too," Mia said shyly. Enzo smiled before he led Mia to get up and follow him to the dining room.

"I understand, Mia. You don't need to worry. I'm strong and won't get sick easily," Enzo said softly. When they entered the dining room, dinner had been served by the servants. Mia was seated next to Enzo while the servants began to help the two of them prepare their dinner.

"Enzo..." Mia called weakly.

Enzo immediately paid attention to her. "What's wrong, hm?" he asked softly. Mia somehow looked a little hesitant before the child seemed to gather all her courage to continue her sentence again.

"Auntie and Uncle said... I can be a singer with my voice. They are happy just by listening to my singing. I... I want to be a singer like they want, Enzo. I want Uncle and Auntie to listen to me. Can... can I be a singer?" Mia asked timidly. Enzo continued to stare at Mia, who was starting to look uncomfortable for a while. Her hands and feet moved, while a feeling of restlessness began to grow within Mia when she didn't hear a direct answer from her cousin, who usually spoiled her.

"Becoming a singer, huh?"

Enzo knew that Mia did have a beautiful voice after he had listened to the child's singing many times. It would be great if Mia finally had something she wanted to achieve. But, Enzo was also worried. Mia didn't know how cruel the entertainment world was.

He wanted to refuse just this once. But when Enzo saw those eyes full of life, Enzo was forced to swallow his thoughts before he managed to say any word of rejection. It was okay if Mia wanted it. Enzo thought he just had to become stronger so he could continue to protect Mia even if Mia wanted to enter the entertainment world.

Enzo took a deep breath when he had made his choice. Enzo smiled as he stroked Mia's hair to calm the sweet child's anxiety.

"Okay, whatever you want, Mia. Do you want to be a singer? Then you will be a singer. I will support whatever decision you make," Enzo concluded. His worried feelings immediately disappeared when Mia smiled in relief after hearing his decision. The sweet girl smiled as her hands reached out to hug Enzo.

"Thank you, Enzo!" Mia happily said.
