Chapter 25: 025 Mission: Lord of Wraiths

Land of the Wraith, seated on the Bone Throne.
A system message refreshed itself before Dean McKenzie’s eyes.
[Detection: Your Wraith Servant, Doggy Two, has evolved into a Bone Lord and has completely exterminated (subdued) the original skeleton group. You have successfully activated the special dungeon task – Master of the Wraiths!)
[Task: Master of the Wraiths]
Task description: This lost Land of the Wraith needs a master, as the owner of the Bone Clan Lord, you are eligible and obligated to rule the entire Land of the
Wraith.
Next, please lead your Wraith Servants, lead its people to conquer this place, ps: This task is a special compulsory task, you can not refuse before your Wraith Servant dies!
pss: Since you have activated the task [Master of the Wraiths], your main task has been temporarily frozen and will only be reactivated when you complete the [Master of the Wraiths] task or when the task fails!
Task reward: Conquer it, and it’s all yours!]
Staring at this system message, Dean McKenzie found completely numb.
“God damn it, I just sacrificed the entire skeleton group, and this task was activated immediately.
I suspect the doggy system is messing with me!”
Now Doggy Two doesn’t command a single skeleton. What are they going to use to complete this task and fight for the Master of the Wraiths?
What’s worse is that this is a compulsory task.
The kind that cannot be given up.
What? Someone suggested giving up Doggy Two?
Joking aside, how could Dean McKenzie possibly give up on Doggy Two?
It’s not like it’s Doggy Three!
So, Dean McKenzie could only ponder how to complete this task.
“Forget it, what’s done is done. There’s no point in saying anything now. Let’s just think about how to solve this task.
Who knows, this task may unexpectedly be simple!
Perhaps there aren’t many challenges left in this Land of the Wraiths…” [Please note, your territory has been invaded, please prepare to resist!] Before Dean McKenzie had even finished speaking, the system message slammed straight into his face.
Meanwhile, standing on the high platform, Dean McKenzie cautiously scanned his surroundings under the system’s prompt and quickly locked onto his target.
Around a hundred meters across on the opposite side of the platform, dozens of staggering corpses ambled their way towards them.
Upon seeing the familiar figures of this ‘old gang’, Dean McKenzie found himself able to breathe a sigh of relief.
With a platform serving as a frontline against this scale of the Corpse Swarm, Dean McKenzie wasn’t particularly afraid of them.
However, Dean McKenzie immediately deployed his Appraisal Skill to inspect the attributes of the Corpse Swarm.
[You have successfully used the Appraisal Skill and have obtained the attributes of the [Corpse] and [Strong Corpse]!]
Name: Corpse
Level: Level 7
Attributes:
Strength: 3.9, Agility: 0.7, Physique: 1.3
Attack: 3-9
Defense: 1.3
Name: Strong Corpse (Elite)
Level: Level 8
Attributes:
Strength: 7-8 (3-9), Agility: 1, Physique: 4
Attack: 7-S+3-9
Defense: 2
Spirit Power: 10
Skill: Strong (Level 1) (Passive) (Increase strength by fifty percent) (Upper limit io)
Corpse Claw (Upon activation, quickly rush to the enemy, deal damage equal to 1.5 times the attack power to the enemy, and apply a poison effect)
Seeing the attributes of the corpses, Dean McKenzie frowned. “Although I knew that the base of the corpses was stronger than the skeletons even before seeing the attributes, I didn’t expect them to be so much stronger.
Not only are their basic attributes much higher, but that Elite Monster even has two skills.
Moreover, the basic level of the corpses on this map seems to be higher than that of the skeletons.
It seems that even if I hadn’t sacrificed the entire skeleton group, completing the task with the skeleton group would have been a pipe dream at the very least, with the difficulty at least being of nightmare level.”
As Dean McKenzie spoke, he estimated the time it would take for the Corpse Swarm to make their way over, while also checking the resources he still had on hand.
“I’m out of Life Potions, I still have 5 Mana Potions plus what exploded from the sacrifice of the skeleton group.
As for money, I still have 3 Silver Coins.
Then there’s the two templates, Fragile Skeleton Mage and Fragile Skeleton Warrior.
I don’t have enough money to enhance the new Doggy Three!
But, enhancing Doggy Two shouldn’t be a problem!”
As Dean McKenzie spoke, his gaze turned to Doggy Two.
Now that Doggy Two had merged with the Elite Template, it should be able to continue to be enhanced.
Afterwards, Dean McKenzie began to fling out Talents.
After spending all his mana on three extractions, he gulped down all five remaining Mana Potions.
A single bottle of Small Mana Potion can recover ioo mana points over 2 minutes, which is approximately 1 mana point per second.
After downing 5 bottles in one go, Dean McKenzie’s mana regenerated at a rate of about 4 points per second.
With an average of several seconds able to be used for one Talent Extraction.
With 561 mana points, he could use a total of 28 Extractions.
Of course, Dean McKenzie didn’t use them all up.
In fact, he only used 18.
While using extractions, he attributed the extracted properties to Doggy Two. [You’ve spent 400 Copper Coins, successfully added 0.2 Strength to your Wraith Servant, Doggy Two.]
Seeing the system prompt, Dean McKenzie raised an eyebrow.
The price had doubled. The money that originally could have increased Doggy Two’s attributes by 3 points could now only add 1.5 points.
Dean McKenzie put all his remaining money to use and increased Doggy Two’s strength by 1.5, bringing his total strength up to 6 points.
Seeing Doggy Two now at 6 in strength, Dean McKenzie nodded in satisfaction. At the same time, the tension from the approaching Corpse Swarm dissipated significantly in his heart, and even his gaze upon the Corpse Swarm held a fair bit of anticipation.
“A mere several dozens of the Corpse Swarm dare to act wantonly in front of me? Don’t they know I’m not the same as before?
If they want to beat me, they’ll need to multiply their numbers by at least… holy crap!”
Before Dean McKenzie’s words were even finished, he saw another swarm of corpses rushing over from the left side of the high platform. The number wasn’t quite overwhelming, but it was definitely dense.
This number instantly killed Dean McKenzie’s confidence.
“There’s no point in fighting this!”
If it was just the original Corpse Swarm, Dean McKenzie might have been able to handle it, but facing the current scale of the Corpse Swarm, Dean McKenzie could only run.
“Doggy Two, let’s go!”
Dean McKenzie hastily had Doggy Two carry him down from the high platform in three strides. Taking advantage of the fact that the Corpse Swarm hadn t encircled them yet, they ran their way out towards a gap on the right.
With Doggy Two’s impressive agility of 5-3 and the newly improved strength of 6 points, carrying Dean McKenzie was no strenuous task.
The only issue was Dean McKenzie’s comfort, but that was a trivial detail. Soon enough, Doggy Two managed to pull a significant distance between themselves and the Corpse Swarm. They were just on the verge of breaking out of the encirclement until they saw another crowd of shadows up ahead. At this point Dean McKenzie’s face instantly darkened.
“Damn, is it end of the season or something? Why is everyone rushing to farm the skeleton group for points?”
