Chapter 657: Restoring the Appearance
Chapter Six Hundred Fifty-Seven
Long Xiaoshan sat cross-legged in the garden.
From his mouth, he exhaled a beam of yellow light, which, upon meeting the wind, swelled and transformed into a silkworm tinged with a faint gold color.
Behind it, a pair of black and white wings fluttered.
Having absorbed the Grandmaster Qiu Zhen, the Heavenly Silkworm had grown even stronger, yet Long Xiaoshan was still not satisfied. The current External Incarnation was not thoroughly refined; a true External Incarnation should be identical to the original.
Long Xiaoshan took out the Jade Purifying Bottle and dripped some Spiritual Liquid onto the Heavenly Silkworm.
The Heavenly Silkworm and Long Xiaoshan sat facing each other, both Long Xiaoshans, only one the original and the other a clone. Long Xiaoshan employed the method of refining a clone, with both original and clone communicating their spiritual power and divine souls simultaneously.
Invisible forces undulated mysteriously between them, and gradually, the Heavenly Silkworm's body began to change, inching closer to human form...
One human and one insect appeared as if they had turned into stone sculptures...
Ever since Long Xiaoshan began his secluded meditation,
the Rakshasa Lady and Hua Die had not seen Long Xiaoshan. When evening came, Hua Die entered the garden and found it shrouded in white mist, with no trace of Long Xiaoshan's figure.
Hua Die cried out, "Master, Master."
A voice reached her ears, "I need to seclude myself for a few days. Help me look after Wang Chao. Unless there's something particularly important, do not disturb me. Here are some medicinal films, hand them to Rakshasa."
With those words, something flew out of the mist and fell into Hua Die's hands; it was a medicinal face mask used by the Rakshasa Lady for her treatment.
Hua Die pouted, a bit helplessly, and returned to the living room. She spoke to the Rakshasa Lady seated on the sofa, "Master will be in seclusion for a few days. I'm afraid we won't see him for a while. Also, here's the medicinal film you'll use. The master said you should change it yourself every day."
The Rakshasa Lady took the face mask from Hua Die's hand.
Her eyes flickered with thought.
Long Xiaoshan had actually gone into seclusion, and he had casually entrusted the medicine to her, which clearly meant that she wouldn't need Long Xiaoshan's treatment in the immediate future; she could simply replace the medicinal film to help her face recover.
Even if she left now, it shouldn't matter, right?
As long as she returned to Yellow Springs Palace, even if Long Xiaoshan was incredibly powerful, he wouldn't be able to storm into the Yellow Springs Palace to capture her.
Then, she would be free, no longer having to serve as a chambermaid to Long Xiaoshan, this sleazy Grandmaster.
As these thoughts flashed through the Rakshasa Lady's mind, she hesitated. After all, she had promised Long Xiaoshan time and again. First, she lost a bet to Long Xiaoshan, then to drive Yellow Spring Pursuing Moon away, she voluntarily agreed to stay and serve as a chambermaid. Now, because of his promise to treat her face, she had even agreed to serve him. She had already made three promises; should she take the initiative to break them now?
Although Long Xiaoshan was despicable, lacking any Grandmaster's dignity, he never forced her; she agreed to everything herself. Beyond spanking her, Long Xiaoshan had not truly humiliated her. Could it be that she, the Rakshasa Lady, would break her promises time and time again?
Are her promises all so easily retracted?
As a top assassin, the Rakshasa Lady valued trust above all, yet now she was trampling her own credibility repeatedly, and the struggle within her was immense.
Long Xiaoshan had casually handed over the face mask to her.
It was a form of trust in her, perhaps, a test.
The Rakshasa Lady couldn't believe that a Grandmaster wouldn't consider this, but Long Xiaoshan still did it.
Taking a deep breath, the Rakshasa Lady clutched the medicinal film in her hand tightly.
A glimmer of defeat flashed in her eyes, but she still couldn't just sneak away; she was the Rakshasa Lady, after all, with her own inner steadfastness and pride. No matter how terrible Long Xiaoshan was, she had made a promise to him, and a promise was something she intended to keep.
She could never be a despicable person who broke her word.
Even though it would cost her, cost the purity of her body, but it was all her choice.
For several days in a row.
Long Xiaoshan had been on the rooftop Sky Garden, without any commotion, while the Rakshasa had changed the medicinal film three times. On this day, she went to the bathroom and took off her mask.
It was already the third day.
The medicinal film given by Long Xiaoshan was all used up, and according to him, her face should have recovered by now. These past few days when she was changing the film, she had seen her own face improving every day. The new flesh that grew was no longer uneven like scars, but since it had not fully matured, Rakshasa couldn't be completely certain.
Now, another day had passed, and it was time to remove the medicinal film.
The Rakshasa Lady took a few deep breaths; she had never been so nervous before, even during assassinations she could control her heartbeat, but now it was somewhat uncontrollable. Finally calming herself a little, the Rakshasa Lady placed her hand on the facial mask and began to peel it off slowly from top to bottom.
As the mask was torn off, a brand-new face appeared in the mirror.
This face was fair and smooth, without a single bump, as delicate as a freshly peeled egg. On the oval face were a pair of light red, profound eyes, a tall nose bridge, and diamond-shaped red lips—all so perfect.
The Rakshasa Lady began to tremble, her hands caressing her own face up and down, left and right, making sure she wasn't dreaming. This beautiful, radiant face was truly hers.
She had completely recovered to her pre-disfigurement appearance, even more perfect than she had imagined.
After all, she had been very young when disfigured.
She had no idea what she would've looked like grown up; each time she looked, she saw a face marred by mottled scars, unbearable to witness.
Now, that nightmarish, hideous face was gone, replaced by a brand-new, exquisite, and perfectly delicate womanly face. The Rakshasa Lady had never imagined she could be so beautiful. Perhaps she was always this beautiful, only to be brutally ruined by the fire at the orphanage.
She observed her reflection in the mirror for a long time, not getting tired of it, feeling especially fond and proud of it.
From now on, the Rakshasa would no longer need to show herself to the world behind a mask all day; she could finally shed the mask and display her proud features, walking in the sunlight like a normal person.
She was overly excited, and utterly satisfied.
In that moment, even her resentment towards Long Xiaoshan vanished. Though he was terrible, he had given her a perfect face. Just for that alone, even if Long Xiaoshan made unreasonable demands of her, she couldn't bring herself to hate him.
The Rakshasa Lady stayed in the bathroom for a full half hour before she managed to compose herself and step out.
Hua Die saw a stunningly beautiful woman walk out of the bedroom and was dumbstruck for a long while before she called out, "Are you... Sister Rakshasa?"
"It's me," said the Rakshasa Lady with a slight smile.
"Your, your face... it's healed," Hua Die, who had seen the Rakshasa Lady without her mask and knew of her disfigured face, was aware that she had always been wearing a mask these days. Hua Die knew Long Xiaoshan had left medicine for her treatment but hadn't expected the Rakshasa Lady's transformation to be so dramatic.
