Chapter 7: ch7
A few days later, at the Ninja School...
"Now, we will begin the one-on-one practical tests."
On the playground, Teacher Seikou Kamikawa announced loudly.
Among the group of small children, Ethan Uchiha's eyes lit up at Kamikawa's words. This was a great opportunity.
He hadn't had a chance to act for seven days. It was frustrating—he felt helpless after not earning any points for an entire week.
It was tough for him. He wasn't particularly skilled at pretending to be strong, and his attempts to act cool on the first day of school had felt forced. If he were a bully, he could easily create opportunities for himself, but he wasn't like that.
Now, however, he had a chance to show off during the one-on-one practical test.
"I wonder who my opponent will be," he thought, scanning the other students.
He was excited about the upcoming match.
Soon, Teacher Kamikawa began calling out names. One by one, students stepped forward, showcasing their attack methods. To Ethan Uchiha, their techniques seemed unimpressive, but he reminded himself they were just five-year-old kids who had only been studying for a week.
After a few more students went, it was finally his turn.
"Ethan Uchiha versus Kurenai Yuhi."
Hearing this, Ethan stepped forward. His classmate, Kurenai Yuhi, followed closely behind him.
"Please give me some guidance, Ethan," she said, forming the opposition seal with him.
"Sure," he replied, quickly withdrawing his hand after the seal. He noticed Kurenai's face turning red upon contact, which surprised him. Was she always this shy as a child?
"Okay, take your positions," Teacher Kamikawa instructed, trying not to let his irritation show.
After Kurenai moved to her spot, Ethan and Kurenai faced each other, waiting for the teacher to signal the start of the battle.
Just as Kamikawa was about to speak, Ethan made a bold move.
He pointed a finger dramatically and declared, "My grandfather once said that no one in this world can be my opponent!"
His confident demeanor made his statement feel almost reasonable, causing the other students to react.
The atmosphere was thick with pretense.
Kamikawa thought, "So this is what my one-on-one training session has turned into? Just a chance for him to show off? Great."
Feeling frustrated, he weakly said, "Start."
He had a strong aversion to pretentious behavior.

Meanwhile, in a hidden corner of the Ninja School office, two individuals were quietly observing.
One was the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, and the other was Ethan's grandfather, Isaac Uchiha.
"Did you really say something like that?" Hiruzen asked after hearing Ethan's declaration.
Isaac shook his head. "No, I've never said anything like that."
He felt a frown forming. Had he really forgotten saying such things to his grandson?
"What do you think of my proposal?" Hiruzen changed the subject.
"I believe it's too early for him to graduate, Hokage-sama," Isaac replied.
"As long as Ethan awakens his Sharingan, he'll at least have Genin-level strength. Keeping him in the ninja school doesn't make sense," Hiruzen argued.
Isaac responded, "The ninja school has valuable knowledge for him. It's beneficial for him to stay a few more years and learn more."
"Let's see how strong he really is," Hiruzen said, knowing Isaac would be hard to persuade. They turned their attention back to the playground, where Ethan and Kurenai were about to start their match.

On the field, just after Ethan made his declaration, he heard the familiar sound of the system.
"Ding! The Host has successfully pretended to be strong, gaining +666 Swagger points!"
