Tyrant System: Rise of the Dragonblooded

Chapter 72: Chapter 72 Spy

It had been another quiet month since the wedding, and everything seemed to be going smoothly.

One sunny afternoon, Varros was visiting his daughter, Selvara. As they sipped tea, he watched her closely, a subtle shift in her posture, skin, and energy catching his eye. A suspicion began to form in his mind.

"Selvara," he said, his eyes narrowing. "Have you been feeling… different lately?"

She blinked. "Different?"

"Come with me."

They went to the estate's private hospital. As nobles, they were seen immediately. A doctor was summoned, and after a quick examination, he looked up, startled, then smiled.

"Sir, it's very faint, but yes… there's new life growing."

Varros froze, then a wide grin spread across his face, followed by a booming laugh that echoed through the white halls. Selvara flushed, her hand trembling as she gently rubbed her stomach.

"Already?" she whispered. "I…"

Varros grabbed her shoulders. "You've made me the happiest father in the world, Selvara! We are back, the Varros family is back!"

Then he caught himself.

"Ah, I mean, yes, yes,we must be careful. We don't want to hurt the little heir."

Selvara gave a small, sheepish nod. "Right… right."

For a moment, she looked truly at peace. Varros, meanwhile, was already lost in grand visions.

Back at the estate, they rushed to deliver the news to Rin. The butler opened the doors, and Varros practically charged inside, unable to contain his excitement.

"Your Highness," he announced, "we have something to tell you."

Rin raised a brow. "Oh?"

"She's pregnant!" Varros beamed. "It's early, but the doctor confirmed it."

Rin blinked slowly, then smiled. "That's… wonderful news."

Selvara watched him, unsure if his smile was genuine. She couldn't feel anything strange, yet the warmth in his expression didn't quite reach his eyes.

Varros slapped his knee. "This will remain between us. No one,no one must know. I'll buy up every house around yours, post guards, and reinforce everything. This child is the future of two powerful bloodlines. We must protect it."

Rin nodded. "Yes… you're right. It must remain a secret. For now."

As Varros and Selvara left, Varros was humming, completely absorbed in visions of glory and legacy. Selvara lingered for a moment, glancing back at Rin, who stood there watching her go, the smile still on his face, calm, composed, and utterly hollow.

Once the doors closed, Rin's hand went to his chest. A faint glow pulsed through his palm. Inside Selvara's belly, the planted blood-wing responded, slowly, subtly, but perfectly.

"This grandchild of yours will be the reason you die." Rin whispered.

Elsewhere, in a dark, windowless chamber, General Dren knelt before Kaelion.

"You are the true ruler of this land," Dren said, his voice laced with reverence. "Back then, I saved your brother only out of loyalty to you. Now I see where I should have stood all along. Please… allow me to correct my mistake."

According to the Emperor's rules, the generals weren't meant to leave the North, but dren was an ex general.

Kaelion leaned forward, watching him intently. "How do I know this isn't a trick?"

"I refused Rin's invitation," Dren replied. "The rumors are true. He tried to reach out to me, but I rejected him."

Kaelion's eyes narrowed. "Then prove your loyalty. Go into Rin's camp. Kill Isen Varros."

The name struck the air like thunder.

"Varros commands the special forces. He has the nobles eating from his hand. Killing him will rip out the spine of Rin's support."

Dren bowed deeply. "As you command."

Kaelion turned away, his thoughts already drifting toward the endgame.

Behind him, Dren's face was still, his bow held in perfect obedience.

But if Kaelion had looked just a little longer…

He would've seen the faint, treacherous smile curling on the edge of Dren's mouth.
