Chapter 163: Typemoon: Starting Out as the Lion King [162]
The altar was something Alaric was incredibly familiar with. Before his transmigration to this world, he had wandered through South America for months, solely to find the Mayan myths and the altars hidden deep within the jungle.
At this thought, Alaric paused briefly.
A strange sensation, like he had forgotten something important, welled up in his heart. But when he stopped to reflect carefully, he found he couldn't recall anything at all.
...
Meanwhile, in a place unseen by Alaric, a goddess had arrived in Uruk.
"Goldy—!"
The goddess descended from the heavens, crashing directly through the top of the Divine Tower, making an overpowering entrance before Gilgamesh.
Boom!
The deafening sound of the collision was accompanied by falling debris and a cloud of dust, which settled right in front of Gilgamesh's expressionless face.
A moment later, Gilgamesh's voice, filled with anger, rang out:
"You idiot goddess! Ishtar! Can't you use the door like a normal person?!"
The visitor was none other than the goddess Ishtar, who had been summoned to this world yesterday by the high priestess. She had suffered a humiliating defeat when confronting Alaric and, after a night of recovery, had returned for revenge.
Uruk was not Ishtar's first choice of destination. After failing to find Alaric in Kutha City, Sacred Temple, she came to Uruk to seek Gilgamesh.
"Have you seen this person?"
Ishtar casually brushed off the dust around her and ignored Gilgamesh's questioning tone. She asked naturally, "It's someone holding a lance—well, it should be considered a holy lance. And let me tell you, that Lance is pretty incredible."
Gilgamesh didn't even need to think. He already knew who Ishtar was talking about—it was none other than Alaric, the person who had fought her after she was summoned.
Thinking of this, Gilgamesh stared helplessly at Ishtar, who appeared before him in a completely new form.
"Hm? What's this? Have you started admiring this goddess?"
Noticing that Gilgamesh was staring at her, Ishtar flicked her hair, raised her chin slightly, and cast a playful glance his way. "If you, oh Goldy king, could learn to sweeten your words a bit, this goddess might just talk to you a little more."
"Siduri, let's continue…"
Gilgamesh decisively turned his head and resumed his conversation with Siduri, completely ignoring the goddess on the verge of exploding in rage.
"You golden idiot!!!"
...
Everything that happened at the Divine Tower went unnoticed by Alaric.
At that moment, Alaric was enjoying the pure joy of flying freely, soaring through the skies of Mesopotamia aboard the Heavenly Vessel.
What had once taken half a day to cross when traveling with Merlin was now traversed in mere moments.
The familiar sight of the jungle came into Alaric's view.
Without hesitation, Alaric, now in full control of the Heavenly Vessel, pressed down on the accelerator.
Roar!
The atmosphere thundered as layers of shockwaves erupted in the vast blue sky!
Below, the emerald sea of trees receded rapidly, but with Alaric's sharp eyesight, even at such godly speeds, he could make out the details of the forest below—provided nothing was obstructing his view.
And then, it happened.
As though resonating with another beast, Alaric felt his dragon's heart leap. Instinctively, he looked downward.
Within the dense canopy of trees, a yellow flash of lightning raced after him, moving with such incredible speed that it was not much slower than Alaric aboard the Heavenly Vessel!
"A magical beast? A Servant?"
Alaric immediately lowered his altitude, leveling himself with the yellow flash, flying parallel above the jungle canopy.
It was then that Alaric finally saw the true form of the yellow flash.
"A Servant—"
It was a figure clad in what appeared to be a tiger onesie, moving through the jungle with the agility of a leopard. The sheer speed of their movements gave the illusion of lightning.
A Servant like this, persistently following him, was unlikely to bring any good news. Before Alaric could launch an attack to probe their intentions—
"Awwooo!!"
A crisp roar came from below.
The yellow flash leaped high into the air, appearing directly in front of Alaric. It was a short-haired woman wearing the peculiar tiger onesie, wielding a long spear whose tip resembled a massive tiger paw.
Without any words exchanged, she swung her massive spear-paw down at Alaric!
She had sensed the danger and attacked preemptively before Alaric could make his move!
"Did she perceive my intent?"
Alaric stared intently at the short-haired woman before him, his mind beginning to recall relevant information.
A divine-level Servant: Jaguar Man.
An ancient deity from Central and South American mythology.
The jaguar symbolized battle and death, an eternally revered figure across the civilizations of Central and South America.
Like Quetzalcoatl, she was a god of Central and South American mythology. Although considered a lower-tier deity, she was still an authentic god.
As a divine spirit, Jaguar Man had chosen to manifest in this world by possessing a human body.
As for the person Jaguar Man had possessed—
At this thought, Alaric, expressionless, pushed the Heavenly Vessel forward, narrowly avoiding the massive tiger paw of Jaguar Man, brushing past her by the slimmest of margins.
The missed strike left Jaguar Man wide-eyed.
"Huh? Awwooo!!"
The stunned Jaguar Man could only watch as she began falling back to the ground, flailing her limbs in frustration. "I'll come back for you!"
"Trying to leave?"
But Alaric's voice suddenly rang out.
In an instant, Alaric leaped off the Heavenly Vessel, slamming his fist into Jaguar Man's face, cutting off whatever words she was about to say!
With that, Alaric, now a crimson streak of lightning, carried Jaguar Man down, crashing directly into the endless jungle below!
BOOM!
The deafening crash was accompanied by the collapse of towering trees, as a massive plume of dust enveloped the forest!
Countless birds and beasts fled the scene in panic.
For deep within the jungle, two beings had unleashed their primal, untamed power in a fierce battle!
It was a clash between the jaguar god of Central and South American mythology and the dragon of Britain!
The overwhelming aura of the dragon momentarily suppressed the black light radiating from Jaguar Man. Alaric's white hair fluttered in the air, his slit pupils glowing with brilliance.
Crimson arcs of electricity continuously burst forth from his body, leaving small punctures in the fallen trees wherever they struck!
Jaguar Man, who had been forcefully slammed into the jungle, looked up at Alaric with an expression of pure delight.
Her body was unharmed, the only casualty being her now-filthy tiger onesie from the impact.
But Jaguar Man didn't care in the slightest—or rather, due to the personality of the host she had possessed, she cared not at all.
Instead, she was thrilled by the display of power Alaric had shown!
"Awwooo!!! You're amazing!!"
Jaguar Man released her grip on her spear, using both hands to break free of Alaric's hold. With a series of rapid backflips, she created some distance between them, her excited voice echoing through the forest:
"Looks like I'll have to get serious if I want to hunt you down!"
"Of course. If you're careless, you'll die, Jaguar Man—"
Stimulated by Jaguar Man, the dragon blood within Alaric surged uncontrollably. The crimson lightning cascading off his body was proof of his inner excitement.
The heart of a beast rose to the surface—it was a battle between two wild beasts!
