Typemoon: Starting Out as the Lion King's Personal Knight

Chapter 161: Typemoon: Starting Out as the Lion King [160]

Alaric pointed to himself, his expression somewhat bewildered.

Gilgamesh casually picked up a clay tablet again and said, "You can refuse, Alaric."

But then, you won't have the Noble Phantasm.

Alaric didn't need to think; he already understood Gilgamesh's meaning.

Although Alaric hadn't intended to reject Gilgamesh, the temptation of a flying Noble Phantasm was quite significant for him.

The battle with Ishtar had revealed his shortcomings—his lack of anti-air capabilities. If he encountered another enemy like Ishtar, his only option would be to find an opportunity to drag them down to the ground.

Fighting head-on in the air was too restrictive, not the kind of combat style Alaric enjoyed.

Now that there was a solution, Alaric naturally wanted to pursue it.

Moreover, he had already figured out the answer Gilgamesh wanted.

Shortly after meeting Merlin, Alaric recalled the true names of two goddesses and some future-related scenes.

Added to his encounters with Ishtar and Ereshkigal, Alaric became certain that there were currently four goddesses active in Mesopotamia.

One of them was the Beast Goddess Gorgon, who was currently entangled with Gilgamesh.

However, Alaric was uncertain about Quetzalcoatl, whom he hadn't yet encountered. He wasn't even sure if Quetzalcoatl had arrived in Mesopotamia.

Does it matter?

Whether she had arrived or not wasn't important; what was important was that Alaric already knew her true name.

Thinking of this, Alaric suddenly smiled. "I will, of course, give it my all."

Seeing Alaric accept as predicted, Gilgamesh nodded casually and said, "Then set out soon and bring back the information as quickly as possible."

At that moment, Alaric's voice rang out again: "Actually, it's quite simple, King Gilgamesh. I already know the true names of the remaining two goddesses, so there's no need to waste extra time."

"Oh?"

Hearing this, not only was Gilgamesh surprised, but even Merlin, standing nearby, looked at Alaric with curiosity.

After all, Alaric had been picked up by Merlin as soon as he entered the Singularity, and the two had been together ever since. There was no way Alaric had extra time to explore.

Not to mention, obtaining the true names of goddesses so easily was a weighty piece of intelligence.

Gilgamesh was surprised, and Merlin was even more so.

What's going on?

 Did you secretly accomplish this?

Gilgamesh showed an intrigued expression. "Interesting. Alaric, go on, tell me the true names of the remaining two goddesses."

If Merlin had been Alaric's companion in the first half of his journey, then Gilgamesh was his companion in the latter half. Their shared circumstances made Gilgamesh just as curious as Merlin.

How exactly did Alaric know?

Could it have been Ishtar or Ereshkigal who told him?

 Impossible.

Even Gilgamesh dismissed this wild speculation. Those two goddesses were troublesome enough as it was; the idea of them willingly providing information about other goddesses was laughable.

According to Alaric, Ereshkigal and Ishtar had only just been summoned by the high priestess, so they couldn't have had information about other goddesses either.

So, where did Alaric's intel come from?

 A special skill, perhaps?

The curiosity on Gilgamesh's face deepened as he looked at Alaric below, waiting for his answer.

Alaric didn't disappoint. He revealed the goddesses' true names: "The Beast Goddess currently fighting against you, King Gilgamesh, is named Gorgon. She is the youngest of the three Gorgon sisters from Greek mythology, originally known as Medusa.

Her cursed growth represents a tragic end, emphasizing the monstrous nature of her true form due to certain factors.

As for why she can create beasts, I don't know."

Hearing Alaric not only identify Gorgon's true name but also provide related information, even Merlin couldn't help but clap. "Well, well, Brother Alaric, you truly are—"

At this moment, Alaric managed to surprise even Merlin.

What else are you hiding?

Facing their unconcealed gazes, Alaric remained composed and continued: "The other goddess, Quetzalcoatl, is one of the supreme beings in Aztec mythology, revered as the goddess of life, harvest, culture, and storms.

She is also, like Ishtar, associated with Venus and is considered both the goddess of Venus and the sun."

"That's all I know about the two goddesses, King Gilgamesh. Does this count as completing my mission, or do you need me to confirm it on-site?"

Alaric smiled as he looked at Gilgamesh.

Hearing Alaric's words, Gilgamesh couldn't help but laugh aloud: "Hahahahaha!"

"Interesting, very interesting! This is today's royal comedy! Too bad Siduri isn't here to record this.

Alaric, you're truly a man full of surprises!"

"Hahaha, excellent!

I, the King, acknowledge your qualifications to wield one of my treasures. Now, let me think—"

Still laughing, Gilgamesh stroked his chin, pondering which treasure to give Alaric.

Under Alaric's expectant gaze, Gilgamesh dramatically snapped his fingers.

Snap!

The familiar golden Gate of Babylon opened once more, but this time, what emerged wasn't a staff or similar Noble Phantasm. Instead, it was something that Alaric found familiar—

A large bow.

"This is—"

Alaric reached out in astonishment, touching the cold surface of the Heavenly Vessel.

Its appearance was reminiscent of the Heavenly Vessel Maanna that Ishtar wielded, but it was rougher in design, as if unfinished.

"That thing Ishtar wields, Maanna, is the divine vessel that traverses the Mesopotamian skies, a genuine god-forged Noble Phantasm. However, all treasures in heaven and earth belong to me. Even if Ishtar has claimed Maanna, I still have something similar.

You must have wanted a flying Noble Phantasm after your battle with Ishtar. So, I, the King, shall grant you a comparable treasure."

Gilgamesh chuckled lightly. "With this, you should work even harder for me. Lazy people have no place in Uruk.

Since I've let you skip one mission, I'll assign you another in its place.

Now that you have the Heavenly Vessel, your next mission will not be a simple one. Alaric, go and personally confirm the whereabouts and status of all the goddesses."

Snap!

Gilgamesh snapped his fingers again, seemingly satisfied with his new mission. "If you have any requests, tell Siduri. She will fulfill them for you.

Of course, if you fail to demonstrate your worth, she will refuse you."

"Hahaha, you're dismissed. I need to have a proper chat with Merlin."

Gilgamesh rose from his throne and approached Merlin.

Meanwhile, Alaric, now left alone, carried the unfamiliar Heavenly Vessel away, looking like a child with a new toy.
