Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Kayneth Outside the Door

The hotel bathroom.

Lin Jiuan was once again sitting under the shower, letting the hot water soak his hair and run down his body.

"Jiuan, sister is coming in." Sola-Ui's gentle voice sounded from outside. Then, before he could answer, the door was opened.

Seeing Sola-Ui, wrapped only in a white bath towel that complemented her snow-white skin, her chest straining against the fabric and a pair of long, pale legs on full display, Lin Jiuan took one look and immediately averted his gaze. He was afraid that if he looked any longer, he would have a very physical reaction.

"Shy?" Sola-Ui crouched down beside him and naturally wrapped her arms around his shoulders, her magnificent peaks pressing against him until they were nearly flattened. "Is sister pretty?"

"Pretty," Lin Jiuan said, a bit awkwardly. "Sister Sola-Ui, please don't be like this. I'm a little uncomfortable."

"How are you uncomfortable? You're just a..." Sola-Ui was smiling, about to tease him for being a little boy with a grown-up's mind, when she inadvertently noticed a change in him. The words caught in her throat.

This... this... are you sure he's eight?!

Sola-Ui subconsciously let go, her expression a little flustered. Though she didn't like Kayneth, she had never done anything out of line. As a young lady from a noble family, Sola-Ui was completely different from the "open" Western stereotype. Her excellent upbringing and strict family education made her rather conservative in these matters. A noble family of a thousand years would never allow anything to tarnish its reputation. So normally, let alone being in the same room with a man while only wearing a towel, the closest she ever got was a social handshake. The reason she had come to help Lin Jiuan bathe, aside from being incredibly fond of him, was that she didn't really think of him as a 'man'.

"Sister Sola-Ui, maybe I should just wash myself?"

"It's fine." Sola-Ui, Sola-Ui, what on earth are you thinking?

Although his unknown origins, his appetite larger than several grown men combined, his development that defied normal human timelines, and what Kayneth had just said about him resembling the boy next to the Einzbern Master who had identified Lancer—all of it proved his identity was likely not simple. But did any of that matter? He was just a child!

"Sister said she would take good care of you," Sola-Ui said softly. Seeing his slightly tense back in the mirror, she, as if guided by a phantom, moved closer to him, her cherry lips near his ear. She exhaled a hot breath, murmuring in a seductive tone, "...in every way."

What the?! The hot breath on his earlobe felt like an electric current surging through the body he had created, which was almost identical to a human's except for one part. His whole body trembled, tensing up.

"Sister Sola-Ui?"

"Are you shy now?" In truth, Sola-Ui regretted her words the moment she said them. As the famous ice beauty of London, when had she ever said something so wanton? But seeing the boy's growing tension, to the point where his body had jolted, she found him even more adorable and felt a stronger urge to tease him.

She wrapped her arms around him, resting her chin on his shoulder, her face turned to his, breathing hot air onto his cheek. Lin Jiuan felt he could almost taste the fragrant, scorching breath.

"Little Jiuan, what do you want sister to help you with?"

Alright, alright, so that's how you want to play it? Being teased by Sola-Ui repeatedly, a fire ignited within Lin Jiuan. You think I'm just some pure, innocent little virgin?

Seeing the [Sola-Ui (Moderate Fallen)] tag, a wicked thought sprung to Lin Jiuan's mind. Just as he was about to teach her a lesson, Kayneth's voice suddenly came from outside the door.

"Sola-Ui."

"This won't do!" Kayneth stared at the night view of Fuyuki from the window, but his mind was filled with the sound of running water from the bathroom. He grew more and more agitated. He didn't think the little brat Lin Jiuan was a threat. As a Lord of the Clock Tower, Kayneth had absolute confidence in his own abilities. He didn't believe there was any magus in this backwater Far East land who could threaten him, especially since he had rented out three floors of this hotel and turned them into a top-tier magic workshop. Even if a Servant came, Kayneth was confident he could hold his own, or even eliminate them.

But the boy's handsome face... even the proud Kayneth had to admit he felt a sense of danger. Thinking of the tenderness and doting look his fiancée had shown—a genuine smile he had never received—even if its object was just a child, Kayneth still found himself at the bathroom door.

"Sola-Ui."

Hearing her fiancé's voice, the alluring Sola-Ui's body trembled, her face filled with the nervousness of being caught in a secret tryst. "Is there something you need?" she said, forcing a cold, steady tone, as if she had reverted to the ice queen she once was.

With the sound of the water as cover, and since Kayneth couldn't imagine the boy being capable of anything at his age, he didn't detect the panic beneath her coldness. "I think we need to have a proper talk."

"There's nothing to talk about!" Sola-Ui's tone was impatient. She knew he wanted to talk about Lin Jiuan; Kayneth didn't like him. "What's the matter, Kayneth? Are you afraid?"

"If you're afraid, I'll take Jiuan and leave for the Clock Tower right now." As she spoke, afraid Lin Jiuan would misunderstand, she wrapped her arms around his neck again and whispered comfortingly, "Don't be afraid. Sister said she'll always take care of you."

"That's not what I meant, Sola-Ui." Only when facing the woman he deeply loved did Kayneth's tone soften. And the object of his fiancée's protection, while a boy, was still just a child. If it were Diarmuid she was doting on, he would be annoyed, but with Lin Jiuan, Kayneth didn't even know where his unease came from, and he didn't dare to get angry with his fiancée.

"Then there's nothing... Ah?!" Sola-Ui's voice suddenly cut off.

"Sola-Ui?" Kayneth asked from outside, concerned.

Inside the bathroom, Sola-Ui was blushing furiously, looking in disbelief at her hand, which was now on Lin Jiuan's thigh. It wasn't her own doing; he had guided her hand there.

"You... you...?"

"Didn't sister say she could help in every way?" Lin Jiuan flashed a clear, innocent smile.

Sola-Ui's mouth opened, her earlobes turning red, her face burning hot. For a long moment, she didn't know what to say. But looking at his smile, she bit her lip. Well... it was my fault for teasing him too much because he was so cute. Thinking this, Sola-Ui gave a soft "mhm."

"Sola-Ui?" Kayneth's voice came again, more urgent this time.

"I'm fine." In contrast to her blushing, shy expression, Sola-Ui's voice was exceptionally cold as she gave the order to leave. "If there's nothing else, please leave. I'm bathing, and the floor is slippery."

As soon as she finished, she saw a faint smirk on Lin Jiuan's face, and she grew uneasy. "Jiuan?" she whispered, her tone pleading, afraid this little rascal had another bad idea. This was already humiliating enough. But she couldn't stop the words from leaving his mouth.

"Sister Sola-Ui, please don't let Mr. Kayneth leave, okay?"

Sola-Ui glared at him, a mix of shame and anger on her face. Why didn't I realize this little brat was so wicked before?! But looking into his clear eyes, she found herself unable to refuse. A feeling she had never experienced before filled the noble lady's heart.

Just as Kayneth's voice came from outside, "Well then, I'll just go..."

"Wait!"

"What is it, Sola-Ui?"

Sola-Ui felt she had well and truly lost her mind. She took a deep breath, trying to keep her voice from trembling. "About the Holy Grail War... I want to talk to you."
