Chapter 20: The Shattered Bond
"One flame. One tide. Two souls—forever entwined, forever torn."
Inside the Echoing Caves beneath Tatva's western cliffs…
Devsena's torch lit up the ancient murals on the cave walls—twins depicted in gold and sapphire. She paused, hand hovering over a hidden seal.
Arjuna, beside her, whispered, "This is where Vrinda last came before vanishing."
Just then, a distant song echoed—Avantika's voice.
Above, near the waterfall temple…
Avantika stood barefoot near the cascading waters, singing an old hymn taught to her in dreams. The water danced around her, glowing faintly.
Suddenly, she stopped. A cold sensation ran through her spine. Behind her—Devsena.
But her sister's eyes were not her own—they glowed with flickers of crimson flame.
"Devsena?" Avantika gasped.
"No," the voice answered. "I am the fire you left behind."
A sudden blast of wind and steam surged between them. The temple bells tolled on their own.
Flashback – Vrinda's Diary (As read by Arjuna)
"If ever the twins confront each other with fear in their hearts, Tatva shall tremble. For their union is the world's balance—but their division… its destruction."
Back to the Present
Devsena raised her sword, fire trailing the blade.
Avantika stepped back, calling water to shield her.
"Stop!" she pleaded. "We are not enemies!"
But something ancient within Devsena didn't recognize that voice. "You abandoned me in fire. Now feel its wrath."
Their powers clashed—fire against water, sister against sister.
The cave walls above cracked, the waterfall began to split unnaturally.
Watching from a distance, Arjuna screamed, "STOP! You're both being controlled!"
But the prophecy had begun.
Meanwhile… in the Temple of Echoes
An old monk opened the Book of Dvandva. His trembling finger pointed to the last line:
"Only love shall undo what fury has awakened."
